IT DOESN"T matter WHY it's being done or how it was done. The definition doesn't say it's a rescues place to judge, accuse, bully etc. Our rescue is here to make it a personal experience, make you feel human. We are a partner in a very difficult time of your life if you you need to rehome your pet, we want to suppl

y compassion and knowledge. That's what makes the impossible possible! PLEASE PLEASE whatever you do, don't leave your pet in the street it makes it so hard for them and can even run them finding a furever home. We will do the best that we can but you do have to give us time The First Step Rescue is also foster home based, small dog rescue. We are in no hurry to place these dogs, We just want the perfect family for them to live the rest of their lives. The adoption process consists of an application, home visit, and an adoption fee
Most of the dogs will be spayed/neutered,(depends on age and health). All will be vaccinated, heartworm tested, microchipped and have received any other necessary medical care. We do local adoptions, within 35 miles of Downers Grove Illinois. You can find all pets we have available for adoption on: RescueMe.Org or Petfinder.com or AdoptaPet.com

Slip leash worked for getting her outside. She finally allowed me to pick her up so now I can carry her outside makes it easier with the other dogs in the house

Decided at night so she's not around so much noise and activity with the other dogs she would spend some time in the guest bedroom. Also a little more secure with my dogs with the gate and the door I have no idea how my two bigger dogs would act. Later on the bigger dogs were just fine with her

Had a little coffee with my friend in the morning, little bit later we went outside on the leash and we had a breakthrough! She finally allowed me to pick her up and now gets carried to go out to go potty. This is a breakthrough plus it makes potty breaks a lot easier for me with the other dogs. She does get a little timid from time to time when you do go to pick her up so with a little bit more time we will try different people.

Hanging in the guest room now, a tad bit quieter!
Poor girl is very scared and confused as you can image. She lived with 1 person, 2 cats and a quite lifestyle. She has now come to the circus but she will recover given some time.
It's about letting her just be and spending no touch time with her till she decides she trusts.
Did good with the boyfriend she didn't bark at him or charge him, he gave her some chicken abs she was very happy❤️
She has since been moved from the noisier pen in the dining room into the guest bedroom. She doesn't want anybody to touch her but I have been finally able to get a slip lead on her to take her outside.
Time will tell, time will heal.
PS her ears perk up when I use her new name since she does not respond for her mom to her original name Lola or her moms given name so now it's Loni
[My mommy did right by me by bringing me back to the rescue]

Lola AKA Leilani Pearl ( does not respond to name for the owner so it will be changed)
I'm here, I'm back in the rescue. I am really scared. I'm very confused. I won't go by my foster Mommy but she's not pushing it either. I met a bunch of dogs which I've never had that experience. I never had a male caretaker so I may be afraid of men it's unknown I may have never met a man. I'm still waiting for mommy to come back as well.
I will be under evaluation to see what personality comes thru. I'm a 6lb little Chihuahua so care will be taken with my new family.

Lola
My last night with my mommy.
I will be with the rescue on Friday afternoon and allowed to decompress. This will be my first experience with multiple dogs, the rescue is hoping I don't get to stressed.

I am 6.5 year old female spayed, fully vaccinated, chipped 6lb lil Chihuahua
I need a foster home until I an find my permanent furever home, could that be you?
My Mommy moved to a new apartment and I am doing a tad to much barking and the residents want me gone.
