We were unable to raise enough for Cotton. πŸ˜₯

Naidala na siya kahapon sa GPH Veterinary Services. Dinefer muna ang bloodworks niya at rinesetahan muna ng gamot dahil wala ding sapat na funds. For possible surgery din siya gaya ng previous ear tumors/skin cancer cases namin.

As much as possible ay masurgery na siya by next week dahil malawak na ang tumors nya sa tenga. Umabot na ito sa left side ng ulo niya at namamaho na rin. Aabot muli ng 18k-20k ang surgery bills but we have been able to raise only P2,620. 😞

Inilapit sa amin ang pusang ito na ubos na at duguan ang magkabilang tenga. Nalaman din naming kakapanganak niya lang pero namatay din daw yung mga kittens niya, at matamlay na din siya. 😒

Even if we wanted to take a break after Rocky's passing, we might be the last and only chance this cat has to live so we arranged rescue immediately. She was named Cotton.

Our resilient warrior, Rocky, has crossed the rainbow bridge.

Today marks his first month with us since his rescue... and his last day with us.

The last four weeks were challenging but at the same time filled with small victories and special memories shared with Rocky. Battling against FIP, CKD and cancer was tremendously difficult but Rocky had a strong will to live despite his frail appearance.

Two days ago was one of his best days - was very vocal and active, ate a loooot of food, and demanded some lap and cuddle time. You would really think the uphill battle was already over. Yesterday, he rested most of the time, but this morning, I saw that he looked tired. I held his head and looked him in the eyes. I told him that it's okay... he can rest if he has to go, and moments later, he did. I was there with him, held him until the end and let him know that he mattered and was loved in this life.

Rocky, thank you for putting up a really good fight. No more pain and suffering, just happy and comfortable days across the rainbow bridge. We love you, Rocky! No goodbyes but see you again. 🌈🐾🐈πŸ₯Ήβ€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

Aside from the 45 we care for at home, may 8 cats ding kaming pinapakain sa labas. Five of them are strays, while the other three are owned dahil mga may collar pero nakikikain pa rin samin 😹

Tatambay muna sila sa bubong para magpaaraw mula tanghali hanggang hapon at kung saan pinapakain sila ng lola namin tapos may feeding station din sila sa labas ng bahay namin, kung saan nagpupunta sila pag pagabi na para naman magdinner.

May dalawa na kaming nahuli at napakapon na nakikikain sa amin - Jerry and Jimmy. Hopefully, magpahuli na din tong mag-ina na long-time nang nakikikain sa amin. 😸

We were able to secure Rocky's e-poetin and GS injections in time! Thank you po to everyone who helped out! πŸ₯Ή

Rocky is home for the long weekend, which is also a blessing for me as I can stay home and be able to closely monitor him. Here he was earlier when he fell asleep on my lap as I cleaned up after him.

Aside from the other 44 we currently care of, we need to dedicate double the attention and effort to Rocky. He still has seizure episodes, has a lot of meds to take daily and needs to eat at least 6-8 small meals in a day. I also need to pay close attention to his IV drip rate and have to switch his IV every 3 hours. He has 2 types of IV - one to address dehydration and the other to help maintain his glucose levels. So I'm basically checking on him round the clock.

Rocky has insulinoma - a type of cancer in the pancreas which messes up his body glucose levels. Tumors in the pancreas cause his body to overproduce insulin, which causes his glucose levels to drop - along with his vitals. Aside from insulinoma, he has FIP and CKD. Each of these three is difficult alone, what more having all of them. I'm grateful he has an excellent vet to help manage his condition.

It's been really tough lately but I am thankful that Rocky no longer has to fight all these battles alone in the streets. He has me. He has you. He has us. πŸˆπŸΎπŸ’–

It's almost a month since his rescue. What a strong boy he is. Please continue rooting for Rocky and supporting him in any and all ways. 🐾

Hindi siya pwedeng makamiss ng isang araw. P2500 po yung isang vial ng GS. We also need to buy his e-poetin shots for anemia na nasa P900 naman po.

Knocking on your kind hearts po for senior rescue, Rocky. πŸ₯ΉπŸˆπŸΎ

Si Rocky po yung stray na narescue last March na maga at may tumutulong dugo sa ulo. Bukod sa mga sugat sa katawan ay nadiagnose din siyang may FIP, CKD at cancer (insulinoma). 😞

Nitong Sunday ay dalawang beses siyang nagseizure, kaya naconfine ulit siya. Nagseizure siya ulit kagabi. Maaaring symptoms na ito ng dry form FIP. Dati kasi ay wet form FIP siya kaya nakitaan ng fluid sa abdominal cavity pero sa latest na testing ay kitang maliliit na signs of fluid nalang ang meron. Nag-improve naman ang ratio niya kahit konti at nasa Day 25 of 42 na po siya ng GS injections nya for FIP. Inincrease na rin ang dosage niya.

Para mamanage ang symptoms ni Rocky for his 3 diseases, ito po ang immediate needs niya:
1. GS injections - 1 vial ay 2500 good for 7 days. We still need to secure at least 2 vials po. πŸ™πŸ½
2. Beta e-poetin injections
3. Renal wet food for life
4. Seizure meds

As of now, negative po ang funds ni Rocky at medyo malaki din po ang gatusin for his continued treatment. He is really fighting po. Sana mapansin nyo po siya. πŸ₯²

Lolo Rocky is a senior rescue with FIP, CKD and cancer (insulinoma). He may look frail but you'd be surprised how tough of a fighter he is in life. πŸ₯Š Maybe his name was really meant to be Rocky, like the character, Rocky Balboa. 😸

Today is Day 21 of his FIP treatment, plus medical management of his other diseases.

We will do what we can so he can live comfortably, with all his retirement days filled with love and care.

Since his rescue last month, Rocky has been fighting with all his might to survive. He's been battling FIP, CKD and now... also cancer. We learned yesterday that he has tumors on his pancreas and possibly including his kidneys. 😞

Despite the odds, his fighting spirit and strong will to live overshadow his frail physical appearance. When you look him in the eyes, there is so much more to him than being skin and bones. You can feel that he's been through so much struggle in life yet he has reached this far and continues to fight his daily battles silently. Maybe this is why I resonate with him so much. πŸ₯²β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή He makes you want to hug him tight and erase all his pain and worst moments in life.

Rocky is still at the vet and he needs all the love and support we can give him.

Last week we received a call for rescue for a cat seen struggling and dragging himself. When we went to the area, we found him among the bushes and it was obvious that he was incapacitated and could not stand. He already had flies on his hind limbs.

When brought to the vet, it was confirmed that he was a victim of a hit and run. He had fractured and dislocated hips. Worse, naipit daw and colon niya so the vets worried that he might not be able to pass stool unless surgery is performed. Unfortunately, the surgery required is not available in our area and he might have to be referred to a vet in Manila. The surgery alone will be expensive.

Thankfully, three days after his rescue, he was able to pass stool on his own! πŸ₯² He has also been attempting to stand pero hindi pa kaya at natutumba-tumba pa rin siya. Given the good news, pwede na siya for conservative treatment instead of invasive surgical treatment. Since then, he has been returning to the vet for laser therapy and hopefully, he will be able to stand up and move again.Tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang laser therapy niya hanggang ngayon to stimulate healing and reduce pain and swelling.

The birth of BCAF

We have seen it all. Cats being abandoned or thrown out onto the streets because they have been naughty or their growing numbers became unmanageable or simply because they’re unwanted. Even the small ones, especially the newborns, are not spared. They are left out there to fend for themselves. While some may be lucky to survive the streets, rescued or picked up by concerned individuals, most of them die unnamed, unwanted and unloved.

On June 22, 2018, the idea of BCAF was born. It was thought of as a way not only to find loving homes and families for cats within the area of Baguio-Benguet easier and faster but also to promote adoption and educate the public about the humane options of adoption or foster. This page was created in the hopes that there will be no more cats and kitties abandoned, abused or left homeless.

This is not a rescue group. We encourage everyone to be humane enough to contain and keep safe the cat in need of rescue until we are able to look for an adopter. We can accommodate special cases only especially if it is a life or death situation.
