Happiness is finding a wonderful home for a pair of princes. In what can only be described as FusterCluck luck, Chandler and Dolores have moved together to the country. They will make their home in the Lorane Valley with a lovely flock of hens and gardens to roam in. I am so so blessed by the beautiful community around me.

The world is a little less beautiful tonight with the passing of our beloved Gertrude. She was one of the Quaranteenies, the impulse babies we got at the beginning of the pandemic, and one of the sweetest girls. She was a blue copper Marans and had little feathered feet. To say she was gorgeous is an understatement. I think she was the most beautful hen we’ve ever had with flecks of gold in her crown and the darkest blue feathers all leading to a spectacular bottom of fluff. She would sashay down the ramp each morning, often posing and glancing around her domain. She loved eating rose petals, especially the pink ones, and I would often find her reposing in the shade of bush. She got along well with the entire flock and was the only Big to welcome the Angels. She was the end of my tuck-in time line-up with the three shades of “grey.” She was a special girl. Fly high, Gertrude, fly high. You were loved.

Need a rooster for your flock?

Afternoon. I am looking to rehome this fabulous Cream Legbar rooster. His name is Dolores but we call him Dolo. He is 3 1/2 months and is starting to crow. I live in city limits and cannot keep him.

I’m in Eugene, Oregon, but willing to drive for the right home.

Slowly but surely, the Angels are getting used to the tuck-in time routine.

Six weeks! I’m obsessed with the littlest Angels that remain the snuggliest chicks I’ve ever had. Phoebe is often with Rose, further cementing my belief that bearded babes flock together. Monica and Rachel are usually side by side but Rachel is getting braver with each day. I’m a little worried that she is a he but I’m hoping that is just anxiety since I know I already have two roos to rehome. Monica loves to cuddle and I look forward to having her blossom into a lap chicken. Time has gone by so fast and I am head over hen in love.

8 weeks!!! I can’t believe it has been two months. Tonight the boys will move outside with the bigs while Rose and Eunice stay with the littlest Angels until it is their turn to move into the coop. Rose is always seeking adventure and is quite independent. No crows from Chandler yet but Dolores is talking a lot. They both love to cuddle. And Eunice is small but mighty and has the best hair. I can’t wait to capture pictures of her hanging out with Gladys so we can compare p**fs. Needless to say, these chickens are loved.

Seven weeks! Everyone is getting fully feathered and soon they’ll be moving outside. Eunice is the smallest and is closer in size to the smaller Angels. Her hair p**f is perfection and she is the bravest of the bunch. Chandler! Could he BE anymore rooster? He is a huge goof and towers over all. Dolores is getting his voice. Stay tuned for videos of adorable baby crowing sounds. Rose is becoming quite the adventurer and can frequently be found exploring the room the brooder is in. And her beard is getting so fluffy! I can’t believe how the last two months have flown by.

Five weeks and we are in full dandelion mode. Baby fluff is flying away but we don’t need to make any wishes because these three are already everything. Phoebe thinks she is one of the bigger Angels and has the biggest hennitude. Monica and Rachel are besties who love to snuggle with each other. All three of them are social and love to hang out on me.

We’ve hit the four week mark on the best impulse decision ever! The littlest Angels are the sweetest group I’ve ever had. They all love to snuggle but especially the buffs. Monica is always the first to greet me and roosts on my arm, Rachel is always preening and loves to be near her friends, and Phoebe is fierce and has ascended to to the top of the pecking order in the brooder. These three are so loved my heart might burst.

These four are six weeks old and oh my hen, they are loved! Chandler is huge and towers above all the others, Rose’s eyeliner is fading into a glorious set of floofy cheeks, Eunice is small with a big personality, and Dolores is starting to make his first attempts at crowing. What a flock these Angels have turned into!

Reminder that Chandler and Dolores will eventually need homes since I’m not zoned for roosters. If you live in the PNW and are looking for a loved lad to join your flock, hit me up.

The littlest Angels are three weeks old! Time is passing so quickly in a flurry of chick fluff and feathers. These three are the snuggliest group I’ve ever had. Both buffs, Monica and Rachel, are eager to climb into my hand with Phoebe not far behind. I love them all so much, my little group of friends. Best impulse decision ever.

Five weeks ago these Angels joined our family and we couldn’t love them more. Rose Is the most timid of the group but is growing more adventurous each day, Chandler is so big someone asked me if he was really a turkey, Dolores is curious and is already escaping from the brooder frequently, and Eunice is the cutest chick with her little p**fy head. This weekend they’ll get to explore outside and get their first introduction to the Bigs. I’m always amazed at how fast this time goes by and how much I’ll miss it. Does anyone want to hire me to raise chicks for them?

The Quaranteenies are 4! Can you believe it? Time sure flies when you are surviving a pandemic. I can’t images our yard without Edith waddling around with her speckled cuteness, Gladys and her p**fy hair, or the elegance of Gertrude with her fluffy feet. This group remain as the best pandemic decision ever! Happy Hatchday, girls!

And here comes four, four weeks that is. Lucy’s angels are curious and cute. They chatter nonstop and are great bigs to the smaller angels. Dolores and Eunice are getting little p**fs on their heads. Chandler is a huge goofball. And Rose has stunning red feathers and the internet thinks she may be a he but I’m still holding out hope. Check out the last photo and let me know what you think. Am I raising Eunice and the Roos?

If you live in the PNW and are looking for a special rooster, I will be needing homes for Chandler, buff Orpington, and Dolores, cream legbar.

Monica, Rachel, and Phoebe are one week old! We jokingly call this second half of Lucy’s Angels, Lucy’s Friends. These three are the cuddliest floofs I’ve ever had. They run to me when I open the side door of the brooder and jump into my hands. And then they stay there. Oh my heart.

Three weeks!!! Time flies when you are raising chicks. This is the time when all the personalities really start showing. Dolores is very brave and curious and is always trying to get beyond the brooder to explore. Chandler is totally a baby rooster. At least he still loves to cuddle. If you live in the PNW, I will travel to find the perfect home for him. Eunice is just as curious and loves to explore outside the brooder. She also is really fond of Pippa. And Rose, she of the perfect eyeliner, is starting to get these reddish feathers. I do hope they stay that color, I think it would be gorgeous! Lucy’s Angels have stolen my heart.

Lucy’s Angels are two weeks old! They are fully entering the goofball stage. I’m betting that Dolores (note to self: don’t grab the mystery chick) and Chandler are future roosters. Rose and Eunice are super sweet and I think hens although Easter eggers are always super gawky. And since my dream was two buffs, I may have grabbed two more buffs and another bearded friend when I went to buy feed.

We’d like to formally introduce you to Lucy’s Angels! From left to right, please meet Chandler, a buff Orpington we think might be a he but we are hoping is a she; Rose, an Easter egger with the sweetest cheeks; Dolores, the mystery chick that stole my heart; and Eunice, a cream legbar with hennitude much bigger than her small stature. Needless to say, we are smitten.

If you’ve been following me for awhile, then you know that each generation gets a name. We’ve had the Littles, the Itsies, the Bitsies, and the Quarenteenies, I am honored to introduce you to the next generation at FusterCluck, Lucy’s Angels.

They are two buffs, an Easter egger, a cream Legbar, and the unplanned mystery chick with a white dot on her head that was in the legbar bin but didn’t look like anyone else. Her sweet little face hooked me and I couldn’t put her down. Welcome to the family. You are loved.
