Today marks one year since Lucy left us. It hasn’t been an easy one filled with numerous losses including the passing of my mother. I spent the day giving love to all my fur and feathered family. The joy I feel from having buffs in my yard again, the delight my two doodles give me, and now I’m falling in love with our newest addition. Especially in days of sadness, I am so grateful to be surrounded by animals. And in honor of my Lucy, I’m not just going to cry, I’m going smile, because it happened.

Headed into 2025 like a herd of happy hens! Have a great day, everyone. As the girls say, cluck it up!

The final morning traffic of the year. We are looking forward to a new year with renewed hopes and dreams. We hope you, your family, your friends, and all your pets, especially the chickens, have a wonderful New Years Eve!

Happiness is when your chicken sitter films morning traffic. We are home from a wonderful weekend at the Oregon coast and grateful for friends that watch over our girls.

Morning teaffic has all the hustle and the bustle of the holidays. I love the thud sounds Zoe and Gladys make as they are forced to start their day.

The pitter patter of little dinosaur feet are the perfect soundtrack for morning traffic! Thanks to everyone who shared thoughts about Edith and her strange walk. Her ears and eyes look good so I’m getting some vitamin supplements to see if that helps before taking her to the vet. She had a really hard molt this year so I think vitamin deficiency is a strong possibility. Stay tuned…

Morning traffic and roll call! We’re like the Mouseketeers but with chickens.

It’s a rainy morning traffic today but this side view of the chicken walk made it feel sunny. Wait until the end to see how Edit is sprouting new tailfeathers.

Take some deep breaths and enjoy a moment of hen.

It’s Election Day. Go vote!

Monday’s methodical march down the chickenwalk is your sign to take it slow and steady this week.

Moment of Hen: Did you have one of those days? Take a minute and watch happy hens scratch and scritch about while eating treats. Chickens are the best medicine. Volume up and you’ll hear Eunice’s adorable coos near the beginning.

Morning traffic today was slow and steady almost as if they aren’t ready to face the day. Same girls, same.
