Time for another introduction, and today we have two beautiful girls to welcome to Waggy Walkers!
Meet Tilly and Dotty, both girls are nine years old and born just two weeks apart.

Tilly, the white one, is a border terrier crossed with a Jack Russell and is full of beans out on walks. She loves to run around and explore and especially loves meeting new dogs and people. She’s very outgoing and often tried to join in when other dogs start to play.

On the other hand, Dotty the black Jackipoo is a bit more quiet and reserved than her sister. She prefers to take the walk at her own pace and can get easily overwhelmed and uncomfortable with too many dogs around. Because of this, we’re very careful to make sure are groups aren’t too big (in group size or breed size) so Dotty feels comfortable when she’s out with us. The great thing about Dotty is she’s very trusting of her walkers and if she does feel upset she comes to us knowing that we’ll keep her safe.

These two adorable girls are definitely some of our favourites here at Waggy Walkers and they get plenty of compliments and cuddles from the other dog walkers too. Looking forward to many more lovely walks in the future. Love you both 😊🐶

It breaks my heart to have to write this post but sadly a few weeks ago we had to say goodbye to our beautiful little Luna. She has moved away as her owner passed away suddenly due to a heart attack and she is now living with her owner’s family. My deepest condolences to Luna and her family as they come to terms with this tragic and unexpected loss. With permission from Luna’s family, I am able to write this post and wish them all the best going forward. As her walker, I also received payments from her owner after his passing which I will not be keeping and his family have declined to have it returned to them. I have decided to donate this money to Guide Dogs as they are a charity very close to my heart having worked with a Guide Dog myself.

Luna’s owner was a lovely man, although I didn’t see him much, the few times he was home we would often have a nice chat. He was very understanding and supportive of me and Will and happy to be flexible with us knowing we were giving Luna the best care we could. He also gave us lovely gifts at Christmas which really showed how much he cared. One thing that has always been obvious, he loved Luna more than anything in the world. He made sure she always went out for two walks everyday, he built a little doggy service station at his door for Luna’s harness, coat, towel, leads and treats, he always left treats out for me and Will to make sure she had something nice to chew on when we dropped her home, he always kept up with grooming appointments so there was never a hair out of place on her beautiful coat, and I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say she had hundreds of toys! Perhaps that’s why Luna was always so sassy seeing as he’s always treated her like the princess she deserves to be!

Unfortunately, Facebook only allows me to put one video up at a time so I picked my absolute favourite of Luna. My adorable little diva, I will miss you with all of my heart. Seeing you every single day for your walk, your sassy little growls when I’m not putting your harness on right, running back to me when I called you and jumping up to get a cuddle, how chilled out you were on all the walks and just happily toddled around without a care in the world, and how you’d refuse to go with me when your owner was home and he’d have to carry you downstairs while you’d look away from me and pretend I wasn’t there. The cuddles, the zoomies, the sass! I’ll miss it all and I hope one day we’ll meet again. For now though, I hope you’re doing ok without your owner as I know how much you loved him. I’m grateful you’re still with family who understand you and will give you the absolute best they can. I’ll never forget you little Luna, stay sassy 🐶❤️

Happy Birthday to the adorable Dolly! Seeing as it is her birthday, I thought it was about time I introduced Dolly and her sister!

Evee and Dolly are both 1 year old Cavapoos who joined us just before Christmas. Having grown up together, the girls have a very strong bond and love to run around together. That being said, this hasn’t taken away from their socialising with the other dogs and they’ve made loads of friends through Waggy Walkers. They both share a strong sense of curiosity and are often quick to run off and explore their surroundings and say hi to other people or dogs. Since they started with us we’ve been working hard on recall. As of now, when called one of the girls will usually come back but we’ve yet to get both back at the same time! Despite this, they have progressed so much in the short time that they’ve been with us and we appreciate that they are both young and just want to go and see the world!

Evee and Dolly have such love for life and this always brightens up the walks when they’re around. They’re so full of love and affection and they love being around their walkers and other doggy friends. We look forward to another fun year with the girls. Happy Birthday Dolly!!! 🎉😊

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of the Waggy Walkers dogs and their families and to all else who know us! What a wonderful year of walks and care it has been and we look forward to another fantastic year. To wrap up our advent calendar, what better way to finish it than with my own two beautiful Old English Sheepdogs.

Firstly, my youngest girl, 2 year old Zama commonly dressed in red and wearing the green Christmas jumper. What a crazy dog! She’s so full of life and energy, almost too much for anyone to contain! But equally, she is just as full of love and adores any attention she can get. She loves both her owners but prefers her dad as she’s always so excited when she knows he’s coming home from work. She loves a cuddle and is always causing mischief if she doesn’t get it! She’s very sassy and knows how to push her owners buttons. At the beginning of the year, Zama didn’t have the best manners and her behaviour out on walks was poor. We began training her intensely, making sure her recall was perfect and that she wouldn’t go near other dogs or people if we didn’t want her to. Now, I’m proud to say she’s one of the best behaved dogs out on walks. She went above and beyond my expectations of her and obediently follows commands as well as being respectful in the decisions she makes on her own out on walks. She’s really stepped up to the mark and matured into an incredible young girl. She’s even started doing agility over the past couple of months which has further improved our bond. I’m immensely proud to be her owner and I wouldn’t trade her unco-ordinated, sassy, goofy nature for the world.

Secondly, my beautiful boy, 5 year-old Azzy commonly dressed in blue. Words can’t describe what a perfect dog he’s been. From the first day I met him years ago, I knew he would be everything I wanted and needed in a dog. His loyalty is unquestionable, no one comes before his mum, he’ll outright ignore any other human being regardless of who they are to him if I’m around. On walks he’s obedient and for the most part comes when he’s called unless he thinks he knows better. He’s very protective of his pack, any dog that is in our walk, he looks after. He makes sure no one is making any other dog uncomfortable and he’s happy to step in between arguments to prevent anyone getting hurt. At home, he’s a gentle giant, and loves to relax and snooze after his daily walk. Though not as cuddly as Zama, he still enjoys a cuddle when he can get one. I always thought that my bond with Azzy was as strong as it could be but a year and a few months ago I started agility with him. From day one, his love for agility shone and despite his nervous nature, he’s bravely faced every new obstacle thrown at him. He’s mastered every obstacle and is learning every command and combination of jumps and turns he can. We even started competitions this year but they’ve proved to be a bit overwhelming for him. Despite this, I have full faith that he’ll go far next year but even if he never wins a rosette, he’s already my champion boy. I love both of my dogs more than words can say.

Finally, someone who isn’t pictured here is dog dad Leon Avery. When I met him over a year ago, he’d never known dogs and I was concerned about him meeting them. Typically, upon meeting him Zama took to him immediately and was thriving off of all the cuddles. Azzy, also typically, took a while to warm up to Leon but even he started to learn to respect him. Through the year, Leon has loved and cared for our dogs like they were his own. He walked them, fed them, took them out to the garden, looked after them when I’m out of town and cuddles and cared for them. He’s been a better dog dad to Azzy and Zama than I could’ve ever hoped for.

As a walker, I will readily admit that not every day is smooth sailing. There are some days where dogs test my patience, where I don’t have the energy to keep going. There have been very tough times but through them all I’ve had these three. They have supported me through my toughest days and helped me get back on my feet again. I am the luckiest person on the planet to have them, my incredible little family. I love all three of you with all my heart. I can’t wait to spend the next year with you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ❤️🎄

Day 24! Just one more day to go! It also happens to me my birthday today and what better way to celebrate than to write about one of my favourite pups!

This little one is Cynthia, she’s a three year old Jackipoo. I first started walking Cynthia a little before she was a year old and I can remember just how energetic and excitable she was. She was constantly running around and playing with the other pups, and when there wasn’t anyone to play with, she was having zoomies! Since then, Cynthia has matured into quite the well behaved young lady. Like her name would suggests, she’s quite lady-like out on walks, from the way she walks, to the way she takes treats so gently. That being said, she has also developed quite a sassy nature too as she now expects the first class treatment out on walks. She huffs if she doesn’t get the front seat and likes to have her own space in the van. With all that said though, we absolutely adore having Cynthia on our walks. She’s so excited to go out, loves to either run around or walk and sniff at her own and she sleeps the whole way home in the van. It’s never a dull moment with Cynthia and I love how her face lights up when she’s getting attention. It’s impossible not to smile when you see her and we’re looking forward to another fantastic year of walks with Cynthia and everyone else! Merry Christmas Cynthia, hope you have a wonderful holiday 🐶🎄😊

Day 23 and just 2 more days to go until Christmas! For such an exciting time I thought I’d pick one of our most excitable dogs!

This little man is Bertie, a soon to be 2 year old cavapoo who will be celebrating his birthday on 1st January! Bertie is such a happy little dog, he wiggles so much whenever he’s getting attention and he loves nothing more than a cuddle. He’s very affectionate with his walkers and I don’t think we have a dog who’s more excited for their walks than him as he runs straight to me when he sees me with so much excitement! Also, when Bertie is dropped home, he usually turns back to me for another cuddle before I leave which is just so sweet as it’s like he’s saying a big enthusiastic thank you for his walks. Out and about, it’s not just people he loves as he’s very playful and loves having a play with the other dogs. He’s made lots of doggy friends through Waggy Walkers, particularly with other poodle crosses that are his size. Cynthia and Aero in particular are always up for a run around with Bertie. Surprisingly, Bertie is also a little bit protective of the people he loves as he sometimes feels he needs to stand up to other dogs who get too close. He’s never been a bully though and usually he’s respectful of the other dogs so we’ve never been concerned with how he behaves. Overall, walking Bertie is an absolute delight and it’s always such a joy to see him on a Friday so happy to see us. Can’t wait for another year of my little Bertie Boopers! Merry Christmas little Boop 🐶🎄😊

Day 22 and so close to Christmas now! On this lovely Friday it’s time to introduce Rufus!

Rufus is a 6 year-old cockapoo, and what a handsome young boy he is! Rufus has been with Waggy Walkers for quite a while and has been on so many of our walks, probably meeting every single dog we have in the process! Behaviourally, there’s not a lot to say about Rufus as he’s always been so well-mannered and obedient with us. He always does as he’s told and even when meeting other dogs he’s always had a very well-balanced mentality with them. He’s always pleasant to new dogs but he knows how to set boundaries when needed. He’s very good at assessing the situation and knowing what way to behave when he’s out and about. The only possible flaw that we can see with him is that Rufus can be quite a glutton! He’s always looking for food and he’s never afraid to ask for it, especially from strangers! So we need to keep an eye on him when we come across people, but even with his quirks he’s still a very easy dog to walk. We appreciate everything about Rufus, from his good nature and obedience to his love of cuddles and attention. We also love to see Rufus having a run around as he sometimes suffers with lameness in his legs and has to take it easy. We can tell if he’s having a tough time as he’s usually quite slow and reluctant to follow us. Luckily, through lots of rest and patience, we’re seeing a much more lively Rufus nowadays. We hope that next year he’s still full of beans and ready for some fun on his walks. Merry Christmas Rufus! 🐶🎄😊

Day 21 and for today we have the amazing Nora!

Nora is a 2 year old Border Terrier. Her owners had Waggy Walkers recommended to them by Harley’s owners. Nora was struggling with going out to dog friendly pubs with her owners as she would get quite reactive with other dogs. This was also the case when she would go out on walks. We discovered that Nora’s main concern seemed to be around seeing other dogs as competition for resources. We believed that if Nora started walking with a group that it would help her feel more comfortable around other dogs. This seemed to be exactly the case as she realised that her negative interactions wouldn’t make the other dogs go away since they were walking with her so she quickly learned that positivity was the way to go! We also started training Nora to see dogs in a more positive way by having her wait while another dog gets a treat before she gets one. In this way, she learned that other dogs getting food was a good thing as it meant food would be coming to her too. This technique really helped change Nora’s mind about other dogs and we’ve seen her make so many new friends since she joined us. She loves running around and chasing other little dogs, particularly terriers but it doesn’t stop her playing with dogs like Zama too. We are completely delighted with how Nora has turned herself around and now we barely see an ounce of reactivity in her. Not only that but her owners have since been able to take her out to lots of different pubs and always bringing back reports of great behaviour from Nora. They even took her on holiday to a dog hotel where she was in the restaurant everyday, sleeping in their hotel room at night and running around along the beach for her walks! We’re so glad we could help Nora and we look forward to seeing her next year for more successful walks. We wish you and your family the happiest of holidays Nora 🐶🎄😊

Day 20 of the Waggy Walkers advent calendar and time for another double dose of dogs!

These two are Waggy Walkers’ largest dogs! First up we have Bentley, the 3 year old Great Dane. This beautiful boy has been with Waggy Walkers for quite a while. From what I recall, he joined us because there weren’t many other dog walkers who could fit him in their vehicles at the time! Bentley immediately made friends with Azzy and Bruno upon joining our walks. He’s stayed on the same walk with the same dogs since he started so he knows he’ll always be out with his best friends. It was just the three boys for a while but eventually Rufus and Jumble both joined the walks. Most dogs start off quite intimidated by Bentley but Jumble took to him instantly and the two of them have been two peas in a pod ever since. Rufus on the other hand has learned to tolerate Bentley!

Next up, we have the gorgeous Saint Bernard, Luna! Like Bentley, Luna also intimidates other dogs with her size but this has taught them both to be wary and move slowly and carefully around other dogs. Luna has made loads of friends here at Waggy Walkers, especially my girl Zama. In fact, Luna joined us after her and her owner met me out on a walk and saw how much fun Luna had playing with my two dogs. After that, the rest is history as Luna quickly became one of the most loved dogs in Waggy Walkers, by the other dogs and the walkers. She has loads of fun chasing and wrestling with Zama and the others and gives the fluffiest cuddles to her walkers. Both of these gentle giants have a huge space in our hearts as they’re both so lovable and fun to be around. It’s never a dull moment with these two and one day we would love to walk them both together and see how they get on. Merry Christmas to you both! 🐶🎄😊

Day 19 and finally a post about the fantastic Frida!

This fluffy pup is a 1 year old cavapoo. When you meet her, she seems like the happiest, friendliest dog on the planet enjoying the company of people and dogs. While this is true, Frida does have some concerns about the world. Firstly, Frida has been quite nervous with handling, she really doesn’t like being picked up or having her collar touched. In fact, if someone tries to cuddle her when she doesn’t want it, she can be very uncomfortable and skittish. At Waggy Walkers, we fully respect this and have done our best to cater to Frida’s needs. To start, her owners made a great choice in getting her a slip lead which easily slides over her head and doesn’t involve her being touched which is perfect for her. Next, when getting Frida into the van, I make sure that there is a lower level pen free so she can hop into the van by herself and doesn’t need picked up. Finally, we never force cuddles or attention on Frida and leave her to come to us if she wants to but in case of an emergency, we have done some short training sessions with her where we give her a treat while we hold her collar. This is purely so that if for any reason we need to get a hold of her quickly without a slip lead, she isn’t too worried about us holding her collar. Another thing Frida doesn’t like on her walks is large numbers of dogs or conflict. Frida can get overwhelmed quite easily and it has caused her to run off on occasion. Luckily she’s never gone too far and made sure to keep an eye on us but naturally we were very concerned that one day she could go further. We immediately took action to minimise the number of dogs on her walks and make sure that she was happy with everyone in her group. We also try to avoid walking into any other strange dogs or people so she won’t get stressed out. This on its own has helped Frida a lot and we will continue to put her comfort first. As another extra precaution though, I wanted to make sure that Frida trusted us in case she ever did decide to run away again. I’ve spent some time in a lot of the walks giving a little one-to-one time to Frida to make sure we had a strong bond. Of course, I’ve never forced her to be friends but she loves a treat and when she wants a cuddle with you she will happily have cuddles. This bonding has really brought out a sense of loyalty and trust in Frida as even in situations where I have seen her get stressed, I’ve been able to call to her and her demeanour completely changes to one of excitement and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to provide that to her. Frida in herself is a wonderful friendly dog as long as you respect her boundaries, but when you give her your time and patience and let her do things on her terms, she’s one of the most loyal and trusting dogs. It’s relationships like the one I have with Frida that really show me that I’m doing a good job because I can see the joy in her eyes and how much happier she is on walks when we put the effort in to help her. Merry Christmas Frida, we wish you the happiest of holidays! 🐶🎄😊

Day 18 of the Waggy Walkers advent calendar and today we have another very special girlie.

This beautiful Rottweiler is 11 year old Lola. I’ve been walking Lola for a year or two now and started when her owner wasn’t strong enough to take her out anymore. Being an older dog, Lola has always required a slower more gentle walk like Stanley or Rita but it doesn’t stop her trying to run around after all the youngsters! From the get go I’ve always had a soft spot for Lola as I adore rotties since working with so many in rescue. She’s always been very well mannered and obedient and gets along well with all the other dogs. A couple of months ago though, Lola developed a bad infection in one of her toes and the vets said that because of her age she should stop long strenuous walks meaning no more walks with Waggy Walkers. I was gutted to see her go but we wanted what was best for her. A couple of weeks later I went to visit her and say goodbye and the owner told me that she would soon be having a vet appointment to determine whether or not she should go for surgery to amputate her toe. The surgery carried a 50/50 risk for Lola’s survival because of her age. At this point I was concerned but knowing Lola had lived a long life for a rottie, I had made peace with whatever the outcome was. Fast forward to a week later and I get a call from Lola’s owner asking me if I wanted to start walking her again. She had had the surgery and since then her infection had cleared up completely to the point that the vet said there was no problem with her going out on walks again. I couldn’t be happier and was so excited to walk Lola again. Now she’s back to her old self, out on walks trying to keep up with the kids as usual. We’re delighted to have Lola back with us and we look forward to another year of lovely walks with her. Hope you enjoy the holidays Lola! 🐶🎄😊

Day 17 and time for a dog I’ve really been looking forward to talking about.

This beautiful boy is Jumble, he’s a collie x whippet and is 2 years old. Jumble started with us when he was just a little pup at 6 months old and this past year we’ve gone through a very long teenager phase with him. He was getting very cheeky on his walks to the point where it was quite difficult to catch up to him, literally! Luckily, through consistent, rigorous training and Jumble’s eagerness to learn, he has completely turned his behaviour around. Not only has he now got incredibly accurate recall, but we can now trust Jumble to make decisions for himself. For instance, if he sees a dog quite far from us, he will look at them and instead of instinctively running off, he now looks at his walkers for guidance and for this we always reward him with a tasty treat or a cuddle. It isn’t an exaggeration to say that of all of the dogs we’ve ever walked, Jumble has made the biggest improvement in behaviour from training. I am unbelievably proud of this boy and our training has given us such a strong bond with him too. We’re excited to see Jumble again in the New Year where hopefully he’ll continue to amaze and inspire us with his training. Merry Christmas Mr J, have a fantastic holiday 🐶🎄😊

Day 16 and we have a very special dog to introduce today!

This is Jerry-Lee, he is 8 years old and was rescued from Cyprus earlier this year. We can’t confirm his breed but I think it’s safe to assume he’s a German Shepherd. Not only does he look like one but without any training, Jerry has quite a few protective instincts. He is very protective of me as he constantly checks in on me to make sure I’m nearby and also gets a little concerned when I’m walking another dog on the lead or if a dog jumps up at me. Even though me and Jerry have a fantastic relationship now, it wasn’t always smooth sailing. I recall way back when I did my first meeting with Jerry that he growled at me anytime I even looked in this direction. For the first few walks after that, I was very sure not to push any kind of interaction with Jerry as he gets very uncomfortable with contact or handling. After taking some time off for training though, Jerry came back to us a completely different dog. He was a lot more attentive and responsive and we now had techniques to help him feel more comfortable and help us do our jobs. With a little more training from us, Jerry soon realised that being called by his walkers isn’t a bad thing as there’s always a tasty treat waiting when he gets back. Recently though, Jerry has started to have some issues with his legs and was at a point where he was struggling to walk. As carers, we didn’t want to leave Jerry all day while his owners were at work so we continued to walk him but we would only take him out so he could go to the bathroom. As soon as we feel Jerry isn’t able to cope, we take him home again to make sure he wasn’t making his condition worse. With this said, Jerry has been making steady improvements and his getting stronger on his legs again. We hope that over the Christmas period he will continue to make good progress with his recovery. Happy holiday Jerry-Lee! 🐶🎄😊

Day 15 and just 10 days away from Christmas now! And what better dog to introduce today than lovely little Lilah, the Swedish Valhund!

I met Lilah years ago when her owners had moved into the house opposite mine. She was only about 5 months old at the time but now over 3 years later and she’s still with us! From day one, Lilah has always been a friendly, wriggly ball of cuddles. She’s very sociable with the other dogs and she loves getting attention from her walkers. Although she loves all dogs, Lilah seems to have quite the soft spot for my old English sheepdog Azzy. Ever since they met, the pair of them have loved playing and Lilah likes to stick by him when they’re out walking together. She loves Nico and Cynthia as well since they were the first two friends she made out on her walks. Lilah endless positivity and adorable nature are only some of the reasons that we love her here at Waggy Walkers. She has so much love in her heart and it’s a pleasure seeing having a blast on our walks. Merry Christmas little Lilah 🐶🎄😊

Day 14 of December and we go from two bulldogs to another one!

This lovely French Bulldog is Nessa. She’s 2 years old and started with us when she was a bit over a year old. The reason Ness is pictured in a house rather than outside is because she has slightly different care to the rest of the dogs. Unlike the others, Nessa is with us later in the evenings and depending on the time of year her care changes. Sometimes she goes for late walks up at Barbers like her friends but if it’s raining or dark then she’ll come over to my house for some house sitting as I live just a road away from her. Will who also walks for Waggy Walkers walks her twice a week around her neighbourhood too so she has quite the variety of care. Undoubtably, Nessa’s best friend at Waggy Walkers has to be Zama, my old English sheepdog, as when Nessa comes over, the pair of them spend the entire evening playing! Zama is always so happy to see Nessa and she similarly drags me from her house to my own when I pick her up. We love Nessa here at Waggy Walkers, from her adorable little grunts to her great cuddles. We hope you have a lovely Christmas Ness! 🐶🎄😊

Day 13 of the Waggy Walkers advent calendar and there’s nothing unlucky about it as today we’ve got two of our beautiful golden oldies for you!

First up, we have 11 year old Stanley the English Bulldog. Stanley joined us not too long ago after he moved to Cheltenham with his owner. Even though Stanley is a little bit older and can’t see very well, it doesn’t stop him getting around. He doesn’t mind the other dogs but he much prefers sniffing around at his own pace. His funniest little quirk though is when he stops to roll in the grass and have a bark as he’s doing it! Stanley also can’t walk as far as the other dogs so we give him a shorter walk to ensure he’s not overdoing it.

And secondly, we have Rita the French Bulldog cross English Bulldog. I used to walk Rita’s big brother Steven for her mum before he sadly passed away. Then a couple of months ago, her mum got back in touch with me so I could walk Rita. One thing that annoyed was that of the 7 years of Rita’s life, 6 of them were spent in kennels. I couldn’t believe that no one wanted this adorable little girlie. When I went to meet her for the first time, she was so full of love and cuddles! Out on walks, Rita is an absolute angel. She doesn’t mind the other dogs and likes to walk close beside her humans. In fact, the reason I put her and Stan in the same post is because the pair of them are like an old married couple out on walks!

These beautiful older dogs are such wonderful dogs to walk and even if it’s a little slower, their walks are full of cuddles, quirks and cuteness. Love you both, hope you and your families enjoy the holidays 🐶🎄😊
