Wheatley was the first garter born in my hobby, and I was lucky to witness his arrival on July 18, 2015. For a few years he remained the oldest snake in my collection. I am blessed to have witnessed his entire lifespan, and to have learned so much about the genetics he carries. The yellow shown on his coloring in this picture gradually faded to look almost like the blue axanthic trait that he carried. His offspring live on, and will hopefully provide more revelations to the secrets this bloodline holds. Rest in peace, little guy - 10/12/2025

I have successfully completed the relocation of my entire collection of 100+ snakes, moving from Wyoming to Michigan. Temperatures got a bit chilly halfway through, so everyone got an upgrade from trunk to passenger seats in the family car. Everyone made it safe and sound, with a surprise new litter of T.sirtalis waiting for me during unpacking! I'm still getting settled in and hope to jump back into the regular routine soon. If you're in the metro Detroit area, let's make some deals!

Looking good for this lady this year. She's one of my best breeders and seems gravid again. I'll get some fresh photos of her progress in the future. Paired with a male who is double het. blizzard.

Breeding plans for 2023 💙

Female : Blue Axanthic
Male #1 : Wild Type Outcrosser
Male #2 : Blue Axanthic

It will be very easy to tell who sires this litter. The entire brood will either be wild types het for blue, or all blue axanthic. This is a good experiment to see if dual siring is possible in garter snakes.

The extra bonus for this pairing is that the female is 66% het for albino (t-) and the blue male is 50% het for it. So, slim chances they prove out with a blizzard! ❄️

A very surprising clutch! Pairing is a normal female supposedly het B&W axanthic to a male blue axanthic. The results are 10 normals, 3 blue axanthic and 2 anerythristic. This is unexpected as I have never produced anerythristic in my collection before. Some of the blues in this clutch are fairly dark, so I took a couple photos with blue axanthics from a previous clutch to show contrast.
