Our team is full of heartbreak, sadness and anger.
We know what goes on, we know what we have to expect, but no matter how many times we see it, it doesn’t get any easier.

We had 9 kittens that just came into our care this week that were emaciated, malnourished, dehydrated and filthy. Many is bad shape and two that were fighting so hard to live with absolutely nothing left.
How long were they left like this? How long did their little bellies feel hungry? How long did they lay in the heat with no water to drink? This is not okay and needs to stop!

We have now lost one kitten and another is hardly hanging on.. Rescues are FULL with hundreds of cats and the requests for intake are not slowing down.
What happens when rescues run out of money, fosters or adoptive families? Spay and neuter needs to start NOW so this doesn’t continue to happen!

PLEASE be responsible if you are a pet owner. PLEASE spay and neuter your animals! These “unwanted” animals are going without a safe place to live, starving, catching diseases, being hit by cars… They are dying. 💔
These animals did not ask to be born to suffer without a chance to even live.

“If my pet has babies a rescue will take the ones that I can’t find homes for myself” Stop this!!

By many it’s become assumed that rescues will just take.
It’s assumed they will all be provided with a safe place, get food in their bellies, get them back to good health and spay/neuter them. But there’s so much you don’t see…

We hold their bodies up to feed them when they have no energy to stand, we wipe the urine and f***s out of their fur when they cannot clean themselves, we lay on the floor with them while they lay beside us with no fight left, we comfort them as they live their final moments and we grieve the losses of these beautiful babies.

Please don’t put these babies or these rescue families through this. Animals are dying every single day.
PLEASE SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS!

🥺💕 Fearful of strangers, Chloe overcame a few big hurdles yesterday and wanted to play! She is also working on learning that harnesses and leashes aren't scary. A shift in emotions and feelings takes time while implementing a desensitization and counter conditioning protocol, but the results are so much worth it.

This past week we have diagnosed many dogs with what is traditionally known as "kennel cough". This condition is highly contagious, and seems to be making its rounds in our community, as well as in Winnipeg.

The actual diagnostic term is Canine Infectious Tracheobronchitis. Nose-to-nose contact is all that is required to pass this along to your pet. Don't be fooled by the traditional name, as a visit to a boarding kennel is not required to catch it!

If you think that your pet might have this condition, please call the office, and you will be directed to speak over the phone with one of our vets. Our vets will determine if you pet needs to be seen. Most cases resolve on their own, much like a human cold, however some pets will need medical care and support.
