We are the Mahoning County Dog Warden. We do not have cats in our care. We are strictly dogs…

This week we did help with a very badly injured stray cat though. There is no agency that is animal control for cats in Mahoning County. There are just shelters and rescues that take in homeless cats when they have room and available foster homes.

The homeless dog population is tragic but the homeless cat population is unbelievably catastrophic. These poor babies are multiplying like crazy out on their own. They are victims to people, predators and the environment. Imagine living a life of fear and struggling to survive and then dying alone. That is what stray cats experience over and over.

On rehoming pages we see kitten after kitten being given away due to unspayed females with owners who keep letting it happen. The cycle continues with mom and babies reproducing at an alarming rate.

In memory of our little Roodie who deserved so much better than this life offered him, please do something to help and make a difference.

There are spay neuter clinics with programs that need donors. There are shelters that need volunteers. There are rescues and shelters that need fosters. Someone needs to do something to help the countless cats that seem to be invisible to so many. Maybe that “someone” could be YOU. We all can be someone who makes a difference. 🙏
