Check out today's cat of the day!

Our boy Mac came in as a stray so we don't know a ton about him. He is a very sweet man that just wants a lap to call his own. Mac will need to be the only cat in the home as he has some trauma from his past so he does not like other cats. He loves to cuddle up on all of the comfy beds that we have here and will sneak under his blankets to get extra cozy, he is a huge goofball! Get your application in to meet this wonderful man, he is worth it!

Friendly reminder when deciding where to donate your hard-earned money this holiday season.

The Humane Society of Northwest Iowa is NOT affiliated in any way, shape, or form with the Humane Society of the United States, meaning that we get NO funding from them and we do not have to adhere to their policies.

HSNWIA is strictly funded by donations from amazing folks such as yourself, fundraisers put on by our board and the public, and grants through local communities in order to continue serving their communities. We are a donation based shelter and are not funded by the government. This year has been tough year with the record breaking numbers of intakes, whether it be strays or owner surrenders as well as the floods that wrecked this area this summer.
We have also had a record number of neglect and severe medical cases, especially lately. We could not have helped those sweet babies if it wasn't for our amazing donors and fundraisers.

If you choose to donate to our little shelter, you won't be helping a big corporation, you will be helping the little lives in the photo attached. They are the reason that we do this and they are worth it!

Check out our handsome man Buck!!

Buck is the epitome of a teddy bear! He wants to be with you and next to you all the time, making him the perfect couch buddy! He came in due to no fault of his own, his owner passed away. He has lived with other dogs and around livestock. He does well around other dogs, but does prefer females. We do believe he can live with males if there is proper introductions done. He is never aggressive or reactive. Buck is an amazing boy, don't let any of this deter you from meeting him, trust us, he is worth it!
