Meet Possum. 💛

Possum is a sweet, 1yr old, Italian Greyhound who broke her leg after a bad landing from a jump off the couch. Her owner spent a week searching for help with no options, doing her best with a homemade splint and frequent bandage changes, just trying to keep Possum comfortable.

When they found St Francis Veterinary Care, we were able to step in. We placed a proper splint, provided pain relief, and helped get X-rays to better understand the injury and next steps.

While we don’t perform major orthopedic surgeries, we were able to give this owner what she needed most in that moment—relief, direction, and a path forward. We connected her with resources and charitable support to give Possum a real chance at healing.

Possum will still need surgery—and it will likely cost $5,000 or more. Her owner is a senior on a limited income, doing everything she can to help her dog. Without support, she may be faced with the heartbreaking decision to surrender Possum in order to get her the care she needs.

We love Giving Tuesday! We support St Francis Veterinary Care, Plenty of Pit Bulls, FIX THEM ALL, Shakespeare Animal Fund and Saving Paws and Hooves….but there’s many other great local organizations too.

Meet Coach, an 11-month-old puppy whose journey tugged at our hearts. When he arrived at St. Francis Pet Care, his worried owner recounted a familiar fear—she had lost a young dog to the Parvo virus before, and Coach's symptoms were eerily similar.

Thankfully, Coach had received his Parvo vaccine, allowing our dedicated doctors to focus on uncovering the true cause of his distress. After in-clinic treatment and an x-ray, the diagnosis was clear: a bowel obstruction. The only solution? A $2,500 surgery—far beyond his owner's means.

But in times of need, our community rallied. Thanks to our partnership with other clinics, like Community Care Veterinary Specialists, and generous private donors, Coach was able to receive the lifesaving surgery he needed.

His story is a testament to the power of community and compassion. We are stronger when we work together.

Looking back on Easter memories - Easter egg hunt for the dogs was so much fun…although many of the clients have moved and so have we, it warms my heart to remember all the fun we had together. Enrichment with your pet is so powerful, enjoy this beautiful day together!
