In October 2004 Painted Rock Ranch TX opened their doors and started training horses for outside clients. We have started many young c**ts and have tuned up/trained/retrained a lot of older horses. We always strive to ask very softly and get very precise and specific answers to what we are asking of the horse...this is what it takes to put a soft light handle on them. We do not use any gimics, har

sh bits or spurs to start or train a horse. (Note: We may use a ball spur for a few days on an older horse that already knows the task and is being lazy about it...but never will we use any type of sharp spur)

I have always been a little horse crazy. My sister and I received our first horse while we were both attending Jr High. He was a wild un-broke, un-handled two year old... and still a stud c**t. His name was Smokey and we soon learned just how full of smoke he really was. We had him gelded, then Dad broke him, but he was not broke very well, although luckily he was not a bucker. We didn't know anything about horses...but my dad did the best he knew how. This horse was a run away and a fence jumper...and he would do both of those while you were trying to ride him. You could not stop him if he did not want to be stopped. This horse, taught us very well that we wanted to have a much better trained, softer and more compliant, safer horse, so I read every horse training magazine I could possibly get my hands on and proceeded to educate myself in the way of training horses...of course in those days the training techniques did not look anything at all like they do today. I grew up, sold that horse and purchased two more. One was a weanling and the other a yearling at the time. When they grew up I started them myself using some of the methods that I had learned along the way, but I was always looking for a way to make them perform better. One day I checked a book out of the Library and started learning about a new way to train horses. Not too long after that, the same trainer as the one in the book, whom at that time I had never heard of before, was doing a Symposium not too far away. So my sister and I attended this two day event. The trainer happened to be none other than John Lyons. So using some of his techniques I got the mares better broke and then the little buckskin filly was trained over obstacles and shown to success in the trail class. She was so light in the cues I was using that people would ask me what I was doing to get her to do certain things because they didn't see me doing anything to cue her. This little mare definitely got me hooked on showing. Those two mares also eventually got us started in the horse breeding business. We Currently own several well bred AQHA mares (Blazing Hot – Artful Move – Good Asset) and one really nice Skipper W bred APHA mare. We have raised many foals and have always started them using light soft cues. Over the years we have tweeked our training style and have incorporated the techniques of many different trainers into our program, but no matter the techniques, we have always applied them using soft light cues, and always will. This process may take just a little longer and a lot more quiet patience in the beginning but, it is always worth it to achieve that willing compliant partnership between horse and horseman. And it makes riding your horse more like dancing with your horse. Wouldn't you rather have a horse that you could ride and feel like you were dancing with instead of one that you always have to pull around and kick to get it to go where you want it to? or to do what you want it to do? Or one that will stop nicely when you ask it to instead of trying to always run away with you? We can work with your horse to help you achieve that goal. Or-Be sure to check out our Sale Barn page at PaintedRockRanchTX.com to see what horses we currnetly have for sale that have been trained using these techniques. Contact us today to discuss how we may better serve you. Gina Biesenbach Owner/Trainer

This is the first time I have asked Molly to pivot on her hindquarters. At first she had no idea what I wanted, but she halfway figured it out halfway around the turn... she tries really hard.
