We are a vegan 501c3 farmed animal sanctuary where we rescue and provide life-long sanctuary to typically farmed animals in need. It is our mission to educate, help make connections, and inspire non-violence, peace, and reverence for all life.

Please help us officially welcome Carissa to the SoL Board!

Carissa first learned of SoL Criations working for Easterseals Wisconsin at Camp Wawbeek where she got to know Brenda and Jon’s daughter, Tabbi. She grew up on a dairy farm in Southwest Wisconsin, loving the animals and forest around her, and shared that love for the outdoors with many people over the years. When Carissa left camp to work at UW-Milwaukee, she missed having a job that filled her soul as well as her career ambitions. She stopped eating meat in 2022 for health reasons, but the more she learned about the food industry, she now does it for the animals and began to find her new passion. When she saw that SoL was looking for someone to join their Board in April of 2025, she hoped that her non-profit, volunteer management, facility management, and grant writing experience would be helpful. Carissa loves all the animals at SoL and those who care for them, and can’t wait to find more ways to be useful.

We are absolutely thrilled and honored to have Carissa on our team and excited to work together for the animals. Welcome Carissa! ❤️

Sweet snuggled Penelope 💞

14 months ago she was diagnosed with severe kidney disease and was not expected to live. We brought her home from the vet to let her spend her last days here. But then we decided not to give up on her and over a year later, here she is, still enjoying her precious life. 💕
