Taiga Equine & Canine Remedial Therapy Taiga Equine & Canine Therapy provides different alternative modalities to help your 4-legged friends

A little bit about me: I am a long time Yukoner, having grown up riding on the trails around Whitehorse. I graduated from an intensive four year program at the Canadian Equine Therapy Institute (Edmonton, AB), with over 6000 hours spent studying equine anatomy, physiology and gaining hands-on experience. I am pleased to be able to offer services such as massage therapy, acupressure, osteopathic mo

dalities, kinesiotaping, and herbal & homeopathic remedies for your horses. These services can benefit any horse - the kids’ horse, the trusty trail horse, the pack horse, the high caliber jumping or dressage athlete, and the workhorse. I create treatment plans specifically tailored to your horse to help alleviate common problems. Equine remedial therapy can help with issues including lameness, short stridedness, stiffness and muscle tension, gait transition issues, behavioral problems, saddle fit issues, movement imbalances, and many more. I look at your horse as a whole, examining the muscles, organs, skeletal system, movement, teeth, feet, diet, and lifestyle to paint a complete picture of the individual, and use this information to create a comprehensive treatment plan. The treatment plan often includes stretches and exercises for you and your horse to work on together. If you think your horse may benefit from any of these services, I would be happy to help. I offer my services all over the Yukon as well as surrounding areas - I come to you! I have also started a new adventure into Canine Osteopathy! I am looking forward to meeting you and your four-legged family!

Merry Christmas from my 4-legged family to yours! 🐴🐶🎄

Think about it 🤔🤔

An interesting view allows us to observe the attachment of the cutaneous trunci muscle onto the hind leg blending with a fascia covering the stifle.
But also gives us a great view of how the transverse pectoral muscle attaches to antebrachial fascia.

Journey of the nerves (cont.)

This image nicely shows how large nerves have extra protection and cushioning from the fatty tissue that is within the connective tissue surrounding the plexus brachialis, the layer diminishes towards the periphery.

We can still see that all nerves are located within the fibrillar network of connective tissue, they are connected to it, and they do not run separately.

As the nerves travel to the final destination they have to cross different layers and spaces - I labelled pectoral nerves bringing innervation to the ascending pectoral muscle. It is nicely visible how those nerves are 'wrapped' within the connective tissue and the moist appearance tells us that there is a healthy amount of hyaluronan in it. That is so important to allow the nerve (as well as vessels) to travel through the layers, and move, and follow the movement of the muscle during contractions.

Starting on August 1, all dogs entering the U.S. (including those that left the U.S. and are returning, and regardless of the country they are coming from) must be:
• healthy upon arrival
• at least 6 months of age
• microchipped
• accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form receipt and required vaccination and veterinary documents.

Additional requirements may apply depending on where the dog has been in the last 6 months and whether or not the dog was vaccinated in the United States.

Use CDC’s Q&A tool (the CDC “DogBot”) to determine what rules apply to your dog: https://bit.ly/2rww2bq

A great visualization of the issues you can run into with harness! When I see shoulder issues one of my first questions is if the dog is walked in a harness...

With some new faces on my page I think it is time to reintroduce myself! I am a long time Yukoner who always had a passion for helping animals. In 2018 I graduated from an intensive 4 year equine program that gave me over 6000 hours of learning about anatomy, physiology and gaining hands on experience. In the last few years I have explored some canine programs and adapted dogs into my practice! I look at your 4-legged friend as a whole and love to solve the puzzle.
