Marshall was a playful boy today, he did not want me to keep his toys so I promised him he could win. Such a cute little ruby Cav!
Today was too cold for a full walk, but yesterday Chauncey had spirit and was glad to be exploring nearby parks. He has great energy!
Rhetta would love to be wrapped up and brought inside before the holidays! She has turned in to a confidant young lady who loves snacks and will climb in to my lap as I visit. She has shown the classic tortietude that those with her coloring often exhibit, nothing wrong with a kitty who knows her worth! She is used to living with other cats in the colony, and may also do well as a solo cat with an attentive human. Spayed and vaccinated thanks to @ppr_mpls , and well fed since August through many donations by the community.
Nova colony in Heights had a dramatic week, with highs and lows. The bad news is that Ebony suffered a throat injury on one of the very cold days this week, and I couldn’t tell how bad it was so I whisked her off to the U of MN Vet Urgent Care. It appears she was bitten by a dog or raccoon or an unknown cat seeking warmth where she sleeps. She was treated, and is now an emergency foster in my bathroom. Happy and Grumpy are still upstairs, hopefully posted and meeting adopters next week, and we made room in the Inn for Ebony to heal downstairs. She is doing great, wanting petting and churu and adjusting to life indoors. She is going to be a beloved companion to someone, I can tell already! Now we apply to rescues to onboard her, which was the plan in a week or two. I wish all of these kitties could find a safe home indoors, and none would go through this type of traumatic injury. Thank goodness she trusted us enough to go in a carrier, and allow wound care. The Vet staff said she was charming even with the open wound. It was a week of big emotions, I’ll say that! Enjoy Ebony wiggling around and showing she is ready for the good life. Other good news, Bib and Tuxie were accepted in to Kitty Revolution and have a foster caregiver, which is excellent! Only 7 cats left outdoors in this colony, there are hundreds around the City but I mostly focus on this crew with occasional assists to others trapping and feeding in nearby neighborhoods.
Smudge also wanted petting this week, Ebony can get jealous but I was able to pet Smudge for a bit before the other girls complained. All of these kitties are fixed and vaccinated, and ready for the good life indoors as a foster cat!
Thora has turned in to a huge lover these last few weeks, she prefers affection to wet food and wiggles all around for pets! She would be a really sweet indoor cat!
Rhetta and the colony kitties are doing ok, 7 still there and 4 of the girls really love getting pets!
Yesterday Frida Catlo turned 5, and we had a little catnip party. Many happy returns, Frida!
Today was my first time petting Thora, for months we called her 3rd black cat because she wouldn’t get very close and we didn’t know her personality. She has seen Ebony and Rhetta getting petting and snacks for weeks, and has been inching closer and doing playful wiggles and flops, and today she took that last step and made contact. I’m so proud of her, and pleased!
Update on the cat colony I’ve been helping care for since August, we are down to 7 kitties still outside and all are fixed, vaccinated, and have been eating co distant meals do are ready for winter. There are a number of structures where they can sleep, we go daily to feed and give affection, and even more are becoming socialized as the weeks pass. We hope to bring another 2 or 3 in by the end of the year. It is hard to think about these cats are outdoors in Minnesota winter, but they are as prepared as community cats can be!
