And you may be wondering how our horses that we are breeding in Iceland will be named. 🐴 We’ve chosen the name “Sandengi” – which literally means “sand meadow” in Icelandic 🇮🇸

Introducing the first glimpse of our new c**t in Iceland! 🤩 This beauty is black with an unusual star, snip, and mesmerizing blue eyes. We were pleasantly surprised by this color, as the splash gene from the c**t’s great-grandsire, Rólex frá Ólafsbergi, had remained hidden for generations.

But it's not just about looks—this c**t boasts an incredible pedigree! The sire is the phenomenal Þór frá Torfunesi (8.8 overall), and the dam’s sire is the exceptionally talented Nökkvi frá Syðra-Skörðugili (8.66 overall). Nökkvi won the B-Class at the 2018 Landsmót (a remarkable feat for a five-gaited horse) and is back competing at Landsmót this year with a young rider.

We can't wait to see what the future holds for this little star! 🌟

Herm Sprenger System-4 Stirrups with Offset Eye. We have been using these stirrups for over 20 years and really refuse to ride with anything else. While the hinge in these stirrups was designed for safety, it has the added bonus of shock absorber properties. You don't feel it when you're riding - but you sure notice it later when your ankles, knees, and hips don't hurt! Once you ride with them you'll wonder how you put up with other stirrups for so long. Add to this that these stirrups are top quality (they are heavy - again for safety) and last forever. The ones we have from 20 years ago still look brand new! Earlier this month Maggie, aka Lansamur Magnea Fra Gou, had a great day at the Greenwich Kennel Club show in Norwalk, CT. She had fun trying Fastcat for the first time, was Best of Breed and placed Group 4 in a large Owner Handled Herding Group.

According to the National Interagency Fire Center, in 2024 there have been 16,940 reported wildfires in the U.S. to date. As we head into the hottest time of the year, make sure your farm has a fire prevention plan and an evacuation strategy in place to keep both horses and people safe.

Barn fires are the number one local emergency affecting agricultural facilities. They can cause horrific injuries and kill more horses than any other type of disaster, so being prepared is only in your best interest!

We received a nice postcard from Táta from Sand Meadow (S: Strákur frá Vatnsleysu, D: Herborg frá Oddhóli). She's all grown up and starting her career as a riding horse 🥲 Here she is giving a first ride to her wonderful owner Cathleen Grendon. Cathleen reports that Táta has been exceptionally easy to start - calm and willing - true to the character that we breed for. We look forward to hearing more of their adventures together.

Táta also has a new full sister or brother due any day now, and we can't wait 😊
