🚨 Xylitol: A Hidden Danger for Dogs

Even small amounts of xylitol (also known as birch sugar) can be life-threatening to dogs, causing hypoglycemia, seizures, liver failure, or even death. This sweetener is lurking in many everyday products like toothpaste, candy, cough drops, and more.

If your dog ingests xylitol, get them to the vet immediately for a glutathione injection to counteract the effects. Remember, prevention is key—keep all products containing xylitol out of reach!

Shelters are full of wonder pups who have been let down by people they trusted.

🚨 URGENT: We are beginning today with no open kennels for dogs, so we need your help!

Our shelter is facing a crisis. We took in 147 animals yesterday and we currently have 806 animals on campus. We’re now using pop up kennels for dogs.

Join us TODAY, July 17th, from 11 AM to 7 PM to ADOPT or FOSTER a medium or large dog. No appointment needed, and all adoption fees are waived.

🐕 Fostering a dog for 2-4 weeks helps them decompress outside of the shelter, and it's completely free with all supplies provided.

Here’s how else you can help our shelter animals:

🐾 If you find a healthy, friendly dog, try to locate their owner before bringing them in. Most animals who come to the shelter are never reclaimed by their owners.

With our current extreme heat throughout the Las Vegas Valley, ensuring your dog's water dishes/bowls/buckets have plenty of fresh clean water is vital.

Check several times throughout the day on their water as some dogs have the tendency to play in their water and they can get knocked over.

Stainless steel bowls or buckets are best for water bowls as plastic can breed bacteria.
If your dog loves playing in his water bowls, ensure he cannot tip them over. Have a few bowls throughout the house - showers are a great place to put water bowls.

Due to extreme temperatures throughout the Las Vegas Valley over the next 7-10 days, we will be reducing our work hours.
We aim to have our employees finish a little earlier to avoid the hottest part of the day - typically between 5-6pm.

During these extreme heat days, we ask our customers to be home for their scheduled appointment windows, have their pups ready, and be able to respond quickly to opening doors to ensure their dogs are not waiting outside too long after their baths and our employees are not standing outside in the heat. We appreciate your help.
