pet parents…. listen up. made up this list of “betrayals” employed by clever, albeit devious, profit motivated companies trying and succeeding in not just selling you a bag of lies, but trying and succeeding in poisoning your minds against sound, tried and true nutritional research. it’s no coincidence that there are several brands of boutique, costly, human-like/human grade/non-“kibble” brands of raw, freeze dried, refrigerated…. pet food options available in aisle after aisle of pet stores. did it ever occur to you why there are so many?
They exist because the emerging new pet food sector has decided that well-meaning pet parents want, can and will spend lots of your hard earned money to feed your beloved pets “only the best”. that translates into …higher costs, in an underregulated industry where they can make false and unsubstantiated claims without legal recourse. Which means… they can tell tall tales, guilt you into buying their overpriced, often unbalanced diets, while spewing venomous claims that kibble and other “vet-recommended” brands of pet food, which have been tested and successfully been nourishing and keeping pets alive for decades… are in fact “bad”, “poisonous”, and only recommended so that vets like me can make a profit.
don’t be fooled by their claims. the only people making a profit are those selling tall tales, handing people conspiracy theories and outright fabrications. beware of words like “detox”, “human-grade”, “anti-inflammatory”, “gluten-free”, “no fillers”, etc. And, if there is a celebrity pawning the product…. look extra close at the message they are really trying to sell you.
You are not a bad person if you feed an affordable kibble. you are not killing your dog if your pet is fed from a can or bag of veterinary recommended food. You COULD be doing detrimental harm to your pet’s health if you do it feed a properly balanced diet, particularly one that is grain-free, as studies continue to point to dietary roles in cardiomyopathy.
