On the Isle of Skye, but getting here from Edinburgh, Scotland meant a 9 hour drive, with stops along the way to rest, take pictures, and for me… search out cool cows and Scottish dog breeds. I quickly learned that exposing 2 inches of bare skin near my ankles was a very bad idea… as the rain and wind is brutal! The first gift shop that sold knee high socks was where I found my fabulously cozy, alpaca wool striped wonders. Who cares that I look like I am auditioning for a munchkin in the Wizard of Oz!

Meet Bentley and Oliver…. Two lovely Cavalier King Charles spaniels(their color is Blenheim… white base with chestnut (or red) markings. I adore this breed and especially their sweet personalities. My own dog India was half Cavalier, and she displayed her loyalty, and affection true to the breed always. Other colors they can be are black and tan, tricolor , and ruby.
There are actually two versions… in the UK where the breed originated, the English Toy spaniel is referred to as the King Charles Spaniel, while in the US, one of the colors of the Toy Spaniel is known as King Charles. So there are two breeds, sharing similar history that diverged about 100 years ago.
The main differences: the Kong Charles is a bit larger and the head is slightly more domed than the Cavalier (who also has a slightly longer muzzle). I am headed to the UL in a few days… so I will be seriously disappointed if I do not get to meet many!😍

A group of concerned pet lovers were up in arms about this barking dog locked in a Tesla with the windows up in the high 80 summer heat. Thankfully, they had the car and AC on and set to 73, along with this notification on the car’s digital screen. They were super close to having their window broken into…. . Do not mess with dogs and car heat on Eastern Long Island. Our posse was ON IT.
Seriously… did you know that car temperatures can rise quickly, to close to 30 degrees past ambient outdoor temps faster than you can say heat stroke.
I do like this Tesla feature though, admittedly.

Well… that’s quite UN-dog-friendly. Most of the Hamptons is the most dog friendly place on earth. But evidently not be Sag Harbor wharf Park.Boo-hssss.
