Perch Work and Other Hind-End Awareness Games.
Good hind-end awareness is key to the correct performance of many obedience and rally exercises. It's also vital if you want to do freestyle, and is the basis of many elements of trick training. It helps build coordination and body awareness. Plus, it's fun for you and your dog!
These are games that can be taught at any stage of a dog's training path. Your current level of training does not matter. Nor does it matter if you never intend to compete, tho I hope you will someday!

Our last trial of the year. Djimi, Open B 198. We have a few things to fix here but overall I was very happy with this. Thanks Bob Blackstone for insisting on taking video!
Since the middle of March, Djimi has earned BN, CD, GN, GO, CDX, and RE titles. Nice job dude. We'll spend the winter working on Utility and maybe hitting a trial or 2 in Open B to stay in practice, especially in more challenging environments.
Djimi's first time in Open, first time trialing outdoors (heck we don't even have matches outdoors anymore) and first time trialing with an adjoining ring.
Gotta work on his attempts between exercises to get pats from the judge! But good first day of trialing in Open B.
Cora, Excellent B, SICDTC June 25, 2021
We had not set foot in a competition ring in 7 months, which is a very long time for me!! The whole point of this trial was to see if Cora still wants to do this, before taking her to the RNC. Got my answer, she was so happy to be there!
Since it was a very small trial, I also entered Djimi. This was his very first live trial. He has his RN (virtual) so I put him in Advanced A. He got a very good score but he is SO NOT READY for prime time. Maybe if i had an hour to settle him first ;)
Video of Cora's run in Excellent.
