We put food out at night for the strays and ferals in our neighborhood. We kept hearing a cat yowling at night and thought there may be a female in heat, so the trap was set.
This cat was pretty angry and feisty, so we thought it would most likely remain feral. He spent a few days in the bathroom while we awaited our vet appointment. The poor guy was terrified!
When we picked the cat up from the vet, we learned he was a boy! So, we put him into a crate where he could recover from his surgery in peace. The vet guessed he is 9 months old.
Truth be told, we were having a hard time releasing him back into the triple-digit heat and with him being so young, We felt bad he would have to deal with the challenges and hardships of being an outdoor kitty. He didn't seem aggressive towards other cats so, we decided to let him loose in the house.
We hand out Bench & Field cat treats to the cats who have grown to expect them daily. When we would give Grayson his share, we would try to pet him as much as we could. Every day, we pushed it a little more and tried to pet him longer. If we moved too quickly he would bolt but, he stuck around because he loves those treats! Eventually, Grayson decided he liked to be pet and even wanted to be pet before we gave him the treats! This gave us hope!
We are so proud of him and just delighted that Grayson is now a totally, normal pussycat! He transformed into a lovebug and has been adopted into his forever-loving home!! 😻
