Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. “By what authority are you doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave you this authority?”
Matthew 21:23
Lord God, over and over again we see Jesus being questioned and challenged by those who wanted to catch Him off guard, who wanted to bring Him down. Jesus remained calm, focused, and steady. If/when people or situations try to pull us down, throw us off balance, stir us up, or challenge us on who we are or what we believe, please help us recall Jesus’ actions. Jesus prayed continuously and had others pray for Him. He was thoughtful and intentional. He trusted You, Your immense wisdom and perfect timing. As Your children we know who we are. We have You working on our behalf, Your Word to encourage us, the Holy Spirit who takes from You and gives to us what is needed, as well as the example of Jesus Christ. Please stop us from a knee jerk reaction, from feeling like we need to defend ourselves, from allowing people/situations to unsteady or unnerve us. You our Rock and Defender. We draw strength from the resources and provisions You give us as You guide our thoughts, words, and actions. In Jesus’ name, amen
