FIDO's Companion Rescue Inc. FIDO's Companion Inc. Weekly we rescue dogs as well from many other rural county shelter in mid and southern Ohio and KY before they are put to sleep.

is a small non-profit 501(c)3 organization operating in Lorain County made up of volunteers who perform vital functions in the process of rescuing animals. We primarily rescue dogs from the streets in our County and County Dog Pound or ill/injured dogs coming into our Vet Clinic from Cuyahoga County. We secondarily assist with taking in homeless stray dogs and funding the spay/neuter of homeless d

ogs and cats for other independent local rescuers and vet clinics who take them in off the street and work to rehome them. Lastly, we help fund the Spay/Neuter of dogs that low income owners cannot afford. FIDO's Companion rescue strives to find new adoptive families willing to make a lifetime commitment and be lifetime companions for each dog we rescue. Our focus is on the QUALITY of life we provide to one canine companion at a time. FIDO's Companion believes that the value of what we do is not in the Quantity of animals we save, but in the Quality of the new life we provide to them. We also know we cannot rescue our way out of pet overpopulation, therefore, we work in our rescue and with our community to ensure spay/neuter is achieved for animals we come into contact with or are made aware of needing altered. We also strive to educate the public including school age children about humane treatment of animals and the importance of spaying and neutering pets

Meet Ruby!

Ruby is a 1 year old, 35 pound bulldog mix who is fully vetted, crate a potty trained.

Ruby is a young, sweet pup who spent much of her life in shelters — but everything changed when she entered foster care with a professional trainer. In just one week, she’s blossomed into a joyful, affectionate companion.

She’s energetic, curious, and loves rough-and-tumble play with her pittie mix best friend. Ruby bonds quickly, greets her foster with tail wags, and is learning that new people aren’t so scary after all.

Ruby enjoys chew toys, hiking, and is making great strides on leash with continued training. She’d thrive in a patient, active home that can support her confidence-building journey and will take her on adventures.

Thanks to your support, 2025 brought exciting changes to FIDO’s. We welcomed our new Executive Director, Rachael Santodomingo, whose leadership has allowed me, Mama FIDO, to transition into the role of Board President.
Rachael has expanded both our assistance programs and our network of low-cost spay/neuter clinics. At any time, we care for 80–100 dogs, including seniors in our palliative program. Our 2025 spending is expected to exceed $500,000, and we are on track to save more than 800 lives.
The national No-Kill movement continues to grow, but longer shelter stays for harder-to-place dogs create capacity challenges. In rural areas, more dogs are left chained without basic care; in cities like Cleveland, Dog Wardens take in dozens of dogs each week and often face euthanasia-for-space decisions.
Your sponsorship helps us save an average of 70 dogs each month. In 2025, your generosity allowed FIDO’s to:
Manage a 35% increase in intakes
Support communities like Galia County with monthly spay/neuter assistance, with plans to help Lorain County Dog Kennel in 2026
Continue rescuing dogs with the most serious medical needs

Meet Cindy!

Cindy is a 2 year old, 35-pound Beagle mix who is fully vetted, crate & potty trained.

Cindy is shy and is still learning what it means to be loved by humans, but every day she grows a little more confident and a little more curious about the world around her.

Cindy is quiet and gentle, and she’ll thrive in a calm, patient home where she can open up at her own pace. She also thrives with routine. Cindy is a couch potato and also loves spending time outside.

She’ll likely do best in a home with another confident dog who can help show her the ropes and be a reassuring presence. She likes playing with her k9 foster siblings and has just learned she likes toys. Cindy is also cat-friendly.

See Jovie TOMORROW 11/23 at 9am Channel 3 WKYC Pet of the Week Segment!

Jovie’s story is one of incredible resilience and quiet strength. This gentle, easygoing girl was found out in the cold—neglected, underweight, and missing much of her fur. Despite everything she’s endured, Jovie has shown nothing but sweetness and gratitude toward those helping her heal.

Now safe and warm in her foster home, Jovie is blossoming into the loving companion she was always meant to be. She adores gentle pets and attention from her foster mom and loves curling up next to her feline foster sister for cozy naps. Though she hasn’t had direct contact with dogs yet, she seems comfortable and calm around them from a distance.

Jovie appears to be housebroken and does great in her crate. She’s the definition of a mellow, easygoing soul—grateful for kindness, comfort, and a soft place to rest.

Reagan is a 2-year-old, 54 pound brindle beauty who is fully vetted and is crate & potty trained.

Reagan has learned all har basic obedience commands, is treadmill trained and knows how to walk confidently on a leash.

Reagan is gentle, sweet, affectionate, and ready to give all her love to the right home. She would do best with another dog and will also likely do well with cats, making her a great fit for a multi-pet household.

Anyone remember the 8 pups stuffed in 1 cage living outside that we just saved? Well one of them just broke with parvo and another is hospitalized as well with similar symptoms but still testing negative. Please pray for us that the others don’t break with this awful disease. Care for tequila and wine will be around 6,000.00. Pray as they battle to live.

Malcom is a 1 year old, 70 pound poodle mix who will be fully vetted and is potty trained.

Malcom is gentle, affectionate, and eager to be part of the action. He’s friendly with all dogs and has been getting along great with his foster siblings.

Malcom is showing himself to be a Velcro dog who wants to stay close and soak up every bit of love he can get. He would love adopters who are kind and patient to let him come out of his shell and shine. Hes great on leash and with kids- No kitties for Malcom though.

Not one application for this sweetie 🥹

Bear is an 8-year-old pitbull with a heart as big as his blocky head and a love for everyone he meets. This sweet boy has a few simple joys in life — kittens, dogs, tennis balls, and his people! Whether he’s gently snuggling a tiny kitten or wagging his tail to greet a new friend, Bear’s kindness shines through in everything he does.

Bear is completely housetrained and crate trained. When you say “crate,” he’ll trot right in without a fuss. He’s friendly with all creatures big and small and has wonderful manners around other pets.

His favorite pastime? Fetch! Say “ball,” and Bear’s eyes light up — he’ll run to get it, drop it at your feet, and if you’re slow to throw it, you’ll get his signature “I’m ready!” bark. He’s a pro at “sit” and loves showing off how well he listens.

Bear also has a hilarious side — he loves to tear apart his toys, but don’t worry, he’s a perfect gentleman with everything else in the house.
