Most "Rue"sters are up before the sun... Not this one and definitely not a Friday. She was a little upset that we woke her from her beauty rest so that she could eat and I could go to work.
And yes, she likes to sleep inside a pillow case that covers her dog bed.
Happy Wednesday! I've had a couple of people ask how fame is affecting me. Especially since I'm getting closer to the big milestone of 2,500 likes (tell your friends and family) they say all this attention would go to my head.
That's not happening here! While I can be a little bit of a diva at times (I like a good selection of blankets and beds to choose from and lots of extra belly runs), everyone at home does there best to keep me in check. Especially Emma! Every afternoon when mom lets me out of the crate Emma swoops in and steals all my treats while I'm distracted by my excitement to see mom. Then she runs and hides on the couch with MY bones! I usually don't mind because I'm glad to be out of the crate. She doesn't care about my super hero status. She says that I'm just her little sister Rue.
Mom says its good that I don't get a big head because I'm such a sweet dog that she doesn't want that to change. I disagree. I think a big head would suit me because then my ears would look normal sized. That may explain why I was born with such big ears.
I hope you enjoy the video of Emma and her thieving ways! I have to get back to the kitchen. Dad is making something called "bacon" and it smells delicious. I'm hoping to snag some at dinner!
See you guys tomorrow!
Love,
Rue
Happy RUESday! Most of you guys don't know this but when I moved in up here I didn't exactly like my new dad. I was kind of scared of him and would try to protect mom and Emma. Everyone that they talked to said that it probably had something to do with my Pre-rescue life.
Dad and I have been working on things and he's turned into my favorite person (don't tell mom) I get so excited when he comes home that I forget anyone else exists. He gives me extra treats and snuggles with me on the floor.
Yesterday I saved dad from a bee! Dad took me for a walk and I saw the bee on the ground and stepped on it to save him. I hear they are nasty bugs and I didn't want him to get stung. I (mistakenly) thought my super strength would squash him before he could sting me.
Well that didn't work out quite like I would have liked and I ended up with a stung paw pad! It was all swollen and it hurt to walk. It made one of my toes stick all the way up in the air. Mom called the vet and she said that before he even said, "Hello" he asked, "What did Rue get into this time?"
Can you believe that? He just "assumed" it was me that was in trouble! Why not Emma?!?! I don't know why people jump to such conclusions. It really is quite unfair.
He told mom to give me some
Benadryl because that should help with the swelling. Today I'm as good as new. You can see in the video my front feet work just fine to get me to that door!
When dad comes home nothing can stop this determined girl from getting to see him. He has to let me come all the way out before he says hi to me though because I get too excited and pee (another great skill I have).
I am going to go back to taking care of mom. She still not 100%. I will see you guys tomorrow!
Love,
Rue
Hey guys! Today was definitely a day I should have just stayed in bed! Emma and I found ourselves in over our heads this afternoon during outside time.
It all started innocently enough. We were enjoying some scooting in the dirt and playing. Emma said that we should go down the street to visit the geese at the park and show them whose boss! She doesn't like the way they hiss at her when we walk at night. I told Emma that I didn't think we should leave the yard because I didn't want to get another lecture (the wearing booties outside one was bad enough) and I was enjoying this little bit of freedom.
Emma said "What kind of dog avoids adventure? Some kind of super hero you are!" and decided to dig her way out. I tried to stop her but she wouldn't listen! Once she was out I thought I guess I should follow her. I don't want anything bad to happen to her and she's not always the bravest.
Well, mom was just coming back up the driveway when she saw us waddling our way down. Oh man she looked angry! So angry that she tricked us! She said, "Rue! Emma! Touch!" and we both headed her way because "touch" means you get liver...and I love liver! As soon as we got to her and touched her hand she scooped us up and there wasn't any liver!
She and dad looked at the hole we dug and had a long conversation. Mom thought I was the digger since Emma had never done that before. Luckily the guilty party was a little muddy and my name was cleared. The unlucky news is we aren't allowed out unleashed now until they can pour some concrete under the fence to keep us from digging.
We did get a little of indoor play time though. I know some of you were wanting to see our playtime so mom made a little video. At the end of it you can see Emma sniffing my back. She is always checking on it when we play. It's like she's been to vet school too and knows I've got some problems that she needs to watch out for!
I'm glad that (most of the time) she is looking out for me!
Happy Monday!

Super R
Dad said it was breakfast time so being the polite dog I am I thought I'd bring my friend I was playing. Mom just laughed at took him away. I tried explaining Mr. Pig is much more civilized than Mr. Toad but she wasn't having it. She said, "No toys during food time because you need to practice standing." But then she goes and puts my yellow squeaky ball in my food bowl to slow down my eating (so I'm just confused now). I have some words for Dr. Jones next time I see him though since this was his clever suggestion. No one seems to understand that I need to be ready at a moments notice so I have to eat fast. I can't leave it for later because Emma is a member of the "Clean Bowl Club" and would take it upon herself to finish my food before taking up her sidekick duties.
Speaking of Emma, most of you know she won our silly bet and is entitled to all my treat-filled Kongs this month. Since mom and dad aren't aware of our little wager and will still put treats in both Kongs I decided to hide mine. I can bear to watch her eat my treats!!! Mom and Dad have been looking for my kong since yesterday morning but they haven't found it yet. I am so proud of myself because I've outsmarted her yet again!!! No double treats for Emma!
I am going to head off to my post-breakfast nap now. Which, judging from the temperature, is probably going to last until dinner time. There is absolutely no reason to leave a warm blanket on such a miserably cold day.
Happy Saturday!
Love,
Super Rue
Good morning and Happy Friday!!! I can't wait until 3:00 when the weekend begins!
Here I am this morning gearing up for my super adventures (with another makeshift cape). Mom keeps pinching my tail so I'll practice wagging it. I refuse to let her do my other physical therapy while I eat but I don't mind the tail wagging practice.
Last night I got fussed at alot because I kept trying to practice leaping tallish coffee tables in a single bound. Mom and dad kept telling me "no"... Mom said jumping is a great way for me to prolong bed-rest so that made me decide to stop. I can't risk hurting myself again.
March is awesome because it is IVDD awareness month so I will be sharing extra information about what it is since many people don't know what it is! Dr. Wong (he did my first surgery last May) is going to be giving a presentation on it in Miami and I will put information up on it soon!
I am also excited because I get to give out some of these Lickety Stiks to all of you! I am also going give some to DRSF because I know how scary being a rescue can be in the beginning! Check out mom's post on that.
Emma is the most excited this morning though because I lost the bet which means she gets all my kongs this month! That's okay though I'm sure I can sneakily get them from her using my super powers!
Happy Friday and I hope the video makes you smile!
Love,
Super Rue
