MidAtlantic BullyBuddies We do not have a shelter as all dogs are in volunteer foster homes. The majority of the dogs in our rescue come from overcrowded shelters in Maryland.

We are a small, local rescue group that relies completely on the help of our volunteers to provide foster homes, assistance with vet bills, transportation of dogs and fundraising. Elfie is a sweet boy who had a rough start at life after being abandoned in a U-haul by his former family. Despite being clearly scared and shut down, he has blossomed into a goofy, cuddly, playful boy in his foster home. Elfie can still be easy to startle so would do best in a quiet, patient home.

He is a young pup, not even a year old yet, who still has a lot of puppy-like enthusiasm, but he also has a lovely off switch, is house broken, settles very nicely in his crate, and loves to sleep in (which his foster mom is very appreciate of!). He also rides great in the car and is learning how much fun hiking and outings can be! He even took a day trip to a beach area and had a blast zooming around in the sand, although the jury is still out on the water part. He does enjoy his walks and does well on leash. However, given his sensitive side, a very busy, city-like area may be a bit too much for him.

While in his foster home, Elfie has been properly and slowly introduced to multiple cats and dogs (both large and small). We have learned that he loves the company of other dogs and would likely benefit from having another playful doggy sibling.

As far as the cats go, Elfie has learned to respect their boundaries, but still needs some management to prevent chasing when they get playful and dart around. When kitties are calm he tries to nuzzle up and sneak in some kisses when they aren’t paying attention! He would do best in a cat-free home, but would also likely be successful with slow, gradual introductions to a dog-savvy cat who isn’t put off by his initial enthusiastic curiosity.

Overall, Elfie is a soft boy, eager to learn and please, and has a lovely, sweet disposition. He has been a wonderful house guest while in foster, but would love a home to call his very own!

Please visit our website for more info on adopting Elfie!

Penny is the dog no one wants - she has been homeless her entire life. We realize there aren't many homes out there without other pets and without kids, which is what Penny requires. Despite that, she is quite an "easy" dog and is very happy to lounge around with you – whether it be at your feet or right at your side on the couch. She has her moments here and there, but for the most part is not very active and does not require much exercise.

More info on both dogs can be found on our website or you can email us. Both dogs are urgent!

Penny is the dog no one wants. 😢

We realize there aren't many homes out there without other pets and without kids. But surely, there has got to be someone looking for a very easy-going, well-behaved, loyal dog like Penny, right? Right?

Penny is four years old and has spent all of her years homeless. She REALLY needs a home of her very own. She is quite an "easy" dog and is very happy to lounge around with you – whether it be at your feet or right at your side on the couch. She has her moments here and there, but for the most part is not very active and does not require much exercise.

All she needs is a home of her very own. Email us for more info at [email protected] or visit our website www.midatlanticbullybuddies.org.

HELP! Penny urgently needs a home!

She is about 4.5 years old and is a very easy going, low-energy dog. Penny is very happy to lounge around with you – whether it be at your feet or right at your side on the couch.

She is very food motivated and has proven to enjoy her training sessions very much. Penny has mastered countless tricks and commands in her foster home. Penny also loves car rides, is housebroken and crate trained.

For more info, please email us at [email protected].

Zoom is approx. 3 years old and spent quite some time at the shelter before going to a foster home. While at the shelter, Zoom got to participate in play group and loved playing with other dogs. He has a more soft, gentle play style, so a wild and crazy playmate may be a bit much for him.

He loves going for walks and walks really, really well on leash! Zoom is working on crate training, as he does not like being left alone for long periods of time and would do best in a home that can spend a lot of time with him. For more info on adopting Zoom, please contact the Baltimore Humane Society at [email protected] or 410-833-8848 Ext 2.

Our thoughts exactly!

"Many parents mistakenly think a child-friendly dog means the dog should tolerate anything a child does. Although kids and dogs can, and often do, have great relationships, it may not be as easy as it seems. Children are unpredictable because they make loud noises and move suddenly, causing even the most mild-mannered dog to become frightened and overwhelmed. Any dog, even one who loves kids, can bite if they feel threatened, especially if they can’t escape the situation."

More send-home photos you say? You got it! Arya is another recent adoption - and let us just say that this little dog certainly hit the jackpot with her new family.

Arya's adopter originally inquired about another dog in our rescue but after learning that he was being adopted, was happy to consider other dogs. As it turns out, Arya was being fostered right down the street from her adopter!

After the meeting, it became very clear that any dog would be very lucky to go home with this family - and we couldn't be happier for Arya that she finally found her forever home!

Ooops! We forgot to let everyone know that a few of our dogs were recently adopted. So we will start with this blurry tail: Clark Kent!

If you recall, Clark came to us directly from the isolation area of a local vet hospital after being treated for parvo by BARCS. We were so glad that one of our fosters stepped up to get him out of isolation and into a foster home.

It didn't take long at all for this family to notice Clark on our website and bring him home! Congrats to Clark - and his adopters 🥰

Honeybun is the cutest, squishiest little girl, approx. 10 months old. She has a short, stocky build and is even cuter in person! She loves to greet people by wiggling up to them and flopping at their feet for affection – making her even more adorable than she already is.

Honeybun came to our rescue after having a few seizures and is now on meds. It is unclear as to why she had those seizures although at her age, it is somewhat common. She has had a follow-up with our MABB vet and is doing great. She has not had any seizures since joining our rescue and it’s possible that she can be taken off of the meds.

Honeybun has lived with cats in the past. She loves wrestling with and playing with other dogs! While she is in foster with kids, we do not suspect that anyone with kids would think she is a good fit, due to her puppy-like antics. She is very much like a clumsy puppy and does not hesitate to plow the kids over to steal their food, jump on the table to steal their food – and follow them around to steal their food. Her meds do make her hungry, so this should hopefully subside should she be weaned off the meds.

Head over to our website for more info on this adorable little girl!

Calling all lovers of the low-riding, snorty, shorty, hilarious hippo dogs: Gizmo is all that and more! This cartoon character is guaranteed to make everyone smile. Not only is he adorable, but he is also a friendly, happy, goofy guy!

Gizmo is about four years old and 60 lbs. He is housebroken and crate trained and has been a very well-behaved houseguest for his foster mom. Gizmo loves playing with the other dog in his foster home - and he has lived with cats in the past.

Sometimes Gizmo is too silly for his own good and will jump and play rough when he is excited, so we do not recommend him for a home with kids or an inexperienced adopter. He is not a high energy dog but does require regular mental and physical exercise and stimulation just like any other dog.

Look who is ready to find his forever home - our super-dog, Clark Kent! Clark came to us via one of our shelter partners, where he was treated for parvo. He has since recovered and is fully cleared.

Clark is about 9 months old and is the best of both worlds. He has that sweet, silly, innocent, puppy-like personality but without the puppy antics. He is a well-behaved boy and has been a great houseguest for his foster parents. He adores people and does get excited when greeting, but otherwise is perfectly content to lounge around the house and snuggle.

In fact, snuggling is a must for whoever adopts Clark, as that is one of his favorite things to do! Clark would do best in a home in which he is not left alone for long hours. He does ok in his crate, but loves people so much and does not do well when he is isolated for too long.

Clark is the sweetest, sweetest boy who will no doubt make some lucky adopter very happy. Head over to our website for more info!

It's been a busy, fantastic weekend over here at MABB!

Both of these dogs came to BARCS recently with very urgent medical issues. Clark Kent had parvo and Honeybun had a few seizures. BARCS treated both dogs but they were urgently in need of rescue, as a shelter is not suitable for recovery and monitoring for either of these medical conditions.

MABB has been around for many, many years. Turns out, both of these foster families have been on hiatus for a few years - but made their comebacks just in time! We are so thankful for these long-lasting relationships with our amazing foster parents - they stepped up to help right at the perfect time for both Clark Kent and Honeybun. 🥰

More to come on these two dogs as they continue to recover, have follow-up vet visits and settle in!

FOSTERS NEEDED 🙏

These two puppies are at BARCS and urgently need rescue! Honeybun, approx. 9 months old, suddenly started having seizures. She is currently on seizure medication but needs a foster to monitor her condition for possible epilepsy.

Clark Kent, approx. 8 months old, is being treated for parvo. He needs a foster with a private yard so that he can be quarantined while he recovers.

If you have questions or are able to foster, please email us at [email protected].

Can we all take a moment and agree that Arya is absolutely the cutest little thing?! She is right around a year old and just over 40 lbs. She is very puppy-like and loves nothing more than running, playing, being silly - and being cute (which comes very natural).

Arya is essentially a puppy in a one year old dog’s body and still has a few things to learn, but she is smart and eager and let's not forget, adorable (which goes a long way, doesn't it?). Not to mention, she is fantastic in her crate!

Head over to our website for more info on adopting Arya!

A post most certainly worth re-sharing. 🥰

Back in 2011, we received an urgent plea from one of our local shelter partners about a dog who we later named Widget. Widget had come to their shelter as a stray, horribly emaciated and so filthy, you couldn't even tell he was a white dog. This gentle soul's spirit won over the hearts of the shelter staff, so when they reached out to us and told us how much they loved him, we just knew this was going to be one very special dog. We never even saw a photo of him! We just took him :)

And special he was! But first, he needed some serious tlc. Widget in fact had to spend his first week with MABB under intensive care with one of our vet partners, having developed pneumonia shortly after we rescued him from the shelter. From there, he moved onto his MABB foster home, where he proved to be one of the best all-around dogs we have ever seen in rescue.

Oddly enough, he lingered in our rescue for quite some time. Adopter after adopter looked him over. Perhaps it was because he wasn't a puppy? Or because he didn't have a huge blocky head or muscular body? Maybe because it was hard to say exactly what he was mixed with. Just a dog, we said, Widget is just a dog.

But clearly, Widget wasn't just any ordinary dog - and we like to think he was just holding out for that special someone. Well, that special someone did come along and we're pretty certain she'll be the first to tell you that Widget - now Beans - is the best friend anyone could ever ask for!

And here he is today, Beans! Something about that look on his face, heading out to enjoy yet another beautiful day with his forever human, reminded us that this - THIS is why we do what we do

12/01/2022

Yes, Meatball is the most adorable meatball ever! He has made a lot of progress since joining MABB. Meatball’s foster home is literally the first home he has ever lived in. Prior to being surrendered to the shelter, Meatball lived his first two years in an outdoor concrete kennel. He then spent six months at the shelter. As you can imagine, this has left him unsure of the world.

Meatball would do best with an adopter who understands dog body language, as he can be very scared and nervous when meeting new people and adjusting to new environments. It is necessary to give him space and time to settle in, and to allow him to get used to you.

Once Meatball settles in, he will love you – A LOT. He is eager to please and really is trying his hardest to be a good boy. He is highly food-motivated and super trainable. He is perfectly crate-trained. He walks well on a leash and harness about 90% of the time (but if he sees a squirrel, hold on for dear life). He has also been non-reactive to the other dogs in his foster home when walking on leash with them and greeting them through the fence.

For a patient adopter, Meatball will gladly be your best friend for life – and a ridiculously adorable one at that. 🥰

Head over to our website for more info on this Meatball!

All three dogs are long-timers at Frederick County Animal Control and sadly, they are all very stressed. Getting out of the shelter and into adoptive homes would be miracles for these dogs. 🤞
