Our Story
Aussie Truffle dogs currently use pure-bred, pedigree Field Spaniels in our own harvesting. To be eligible for our training package, clients must own their own truffier (truffle tree plantation). With truffle growing/hunting becoming increasingly popular in Australia, the notion of hunting for truffle with your dog is very romanticized. The industry requires great discretion and confidentiality which we pride ourselves on heavily. We take every measure necessary to ensure there is no cross contamination between truffiers and properties we visit. Aussie Truffle Dogs cover all aspects of truffle hunting, harvesting and sales from farm gate to restaurant.
We occasionally hold interactive experiences where patrons can follow the dog’s hunt and can sample the produce. We have been featured in The Weekly Times (The Herald) and TV programs such as ‘Postcards’ and ‘Gardening Australia’, showcasing demonstrations of harvesting and grading of truffle quality. It has been our pleasure to perform harvesting demonstrations in renowned restaurants like Shannon Bennett’s ‘Vue De Monde’ and ‘Lakehouse’ in Daylesford.
