* UPDATE: We are so thankful! 4 of these MCAS dogs have rescue commitment and a litter of 7 very young puppies was rescued this afternoon. This means we can avoid making any tough decisions right now. BUT we are still at capacity and ask that everyone please continue helping us find a way out for those that are left so that they, too, can have happy futures in loving homes. Thank you!

WE ARE MORE THAN FULL, OUT OF SPACE. WE NEED YOUR HELP. WE DON’T WANT TO HAVE TO PUT ANY OF OUR MCAS DOGS DOWN. We have over 30 dogs onsite after taking in 12 dogs yesterday, most of those unexpected legal holds. That is, sadly, the nature of animal control, always more coming in than going out. Please consider adopting one of our fantastic dogs. All of them are fully vetted with age appropriate vaccines, including rabies vaccination. The adoption fee covers spay/neuter and microchip, also. We're are in an animal welfare crisis, with countless dogs in need of loving homes. Every single one of them deserves a chance, don't you agree?

That includes Kramer, a former shelter dog and graduate of our program. He's been patiently waiting for a family to call his own. While we'd keep him forever if we could, we know that kennels aren't the best for any dog, no matter how resilient they are, or how many walks they get.

This 65 pound husky mix is a very handsome blue brindle and white, with blue eyes that will melt your heart. His very gentle interaction style make him perfect to go into almost any home.

Messi is a sweetheart of a pup. He’s around 8 months old and weighs 12 (should be more). He is heartworm negative, good with other dogs, and kids. Mama is a lab mix but unsure of what daddy was. Per previous owner he is also crate trained.

He seems to have something going on with his hind legs and his ears.

Don’t let his name fool you, was named for the soccer player!

🐾 CALL the shelter at 229-947-5306 OR email them at [email protected] to let them know which dog or dogs you’re interested in pulling. There’s only one person working the shelter, so if there’s no answer when you call, please leave a name and number and she will return your call.
🐾OUT OF STATE RESCUES- call the shelter FIRST (229-947-5306) OR email them at [email protected] as well as Charli at [email protected] to let them know what dog or dogs you’re interested in pulling. The shelter or Charli will send you the required paperwork.

🔴If you’re interested in ADOPTING:
🐾 The shelter is open to the public Monday-Friday from 1pm-5pm, except holidays. 721 Perimeter Rd, Cordele, GA 31015
Adoptions are Monday through Friday from 1pm-5pm. Saturday adoptions are by appointment only.
ADOPTION FEE: $25 NONREFUNDABLE fee paid to the shelter and a low cost spay/neuter fee paid to the vet. Fees are as follows:
Male dogs $55
Female dogs 0-25lbs $55, 26-50lbs $75, over 50lbs $95
The fees are paid to Blackshear Veterinary Hospital for the low cost spay/neuter. Each fee also includes a rabies shot. The fees do not include any pain meds which will be required after the spay/neuter. This has to be done within 30 days of signing the adoption papers.
