It's National Granola Bar Day!

Why not whip up these Living World granola bar treats for your Guinea Pig to celebrate!

Ingredients:
-1/2 cup of Living World Extrusion for Guinea Pigs
- Approx. 2/3 cup of warm water
- Veggies & Fruits (your choice - such as 3 to 4 baby carrots & 1/2 banana)
- 1/2 to 1 cup of Living World Timothy Hay (cut into small strands)

- Add Living World Extrusion to a mixing bowl.
- Slowly add in small amounts of the water until the extruded pellets soak up the water and turn soggy.
- Mix well so that the texture is even.
- Using a blender mash up the banana and carrots until a paste forms (add small amount of water if needed) and add the veggie paste to the extruded mash. Mix well.
- Sprinkle in some of the Living World Timothy hay, add in slowly while mixing with the paste. Keep adding hay until the consistency is still wet enough to stick together but no longer soggy.
- Let sit 20-30 minutes.
- Roll into walnut sized balls or cubes.
- Bake at 350 °F (177 °C) for about 20 to 25 minutes
- Store in a tightly sealed container for 1 to 2 weeks.

It's . That pop of floral color in everyone’s home means the holidays are right around the corner. It's the ideal time to talk about popular holiday plants that are toxic to pets if ingested.
Just how poisonous these are depends largely on the size of the animal and how much is ingested. If eaten, many holiday plants have the potential to cause abnormal behavior or vomiting and diarrhea. Common toxic plants to avoid include holly, mistletoe, chrysanthemum and ivy. Poinsettia, which is probably the most popular holiday plant of all, can irritate the skin, mouth, and stomach.

Be aware that even if a plant is considered non-toxic, it could still cause vomiting or gastrointestinal upset. It is always best practice to research before bringing a plant home and to keep plants out of reach.

If you suspect your pet has ingested a toxic plant, contact your exotic vet right away.
