Here’s what we have left from the swap!

These photos are the ones I took to advertise for the swap, so if you want posed photos of any of them, just let me know!
All are pedigreed except for one (the brindle buck).

We’re trying to downsize, so I’ll make you a deal if you want 3 or more.

Noteworthy rabbits:
• I have some really nice whites this time around. There’s enough that it could give someone a great start to their own REW program. Almost all of the whites are self-based, so would cross well with just about anything.
I’ll make a good deal if you want a breeding pair, trio, or quad.

• I have some nice selfs, too. Some of these were the foundations for my black/blue lines.
I’ll also make a good deal for these if someone wants a breeding group.

• I have 3 New Zealands left (2 does, 1 buck)
I’ll give a much better deal if someone wants the trio.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Pickup will be in Rockwood, PA (15557) or I can bring them to the Baltimore & Howard County rabbit show in West Friendship, MD on November 18th.

We still have a good number of rabbits left after yesterday’s swap. I’ll be posting pictures tomorrow.
There are a few junior Mini Rex, a lot of my brood Mini Rex (some of these rabbits were the foundations for my lines), and I have a New Zealand trio left.

Stay tuned!

This is huge news for those of us who breed tri colors!!!

Now that it’s official, our team is excited to announce the project we have been working on for the last few months. We have obtained a Certificate of Development (COD) for the unique and eye-catching variety that is, the Brindle Mini Rex! This will be a very exciting step forward, not just for Mini Rex, but for all breeds, as this will be the first “Brindle” COD in ARBA history.

Seeing as this has not been done before, there will be a unique set of challenges to get this variety accepted, but our dedicated team has what it takes and we could not be more excited to develop this breathtaking variety. We will be presenting all 4 varieties which include, Black/Orange, Blue/Fawn, Chocolate/Orange, and Lilac/Fawn. Note that Harlequin markings are a disqualification, as we are breeding for Brindles. Genotypically, they are the same as a Harlequin or a “Solid Tri”, if you will, but the aim is an even distribution and intermixing of the color combinations listed above.

As of June 2023, Brindles may be shown in the exhibition class at ARBA shows but cannot compete for Best of Breed/Best In Show. Below is a link to the Brindle Working Standard, which must be provided to the judge if entered as an exhibition animal.

The team would be more than happy to answer questions about the Brindle variety, and we hope to see a great deal of interest! Please feel free to reach out to Catherine Tompkins, Chase Domingue, Nicole Tompkins, Kate Smith, Berlena Reynolds, Sandra Gail Neal, Johnny Haussener, Dae Lycos

And special thanks to all the other behind the scenes people that have contributed to this happening in big and small ways 🥰🎉

Added some new faces to the rabbitry yesterday! (Just don’t tell my husband. Trying to see how long it takes him to notice 😂)

I think I shall call them Pon & Zi

Sasafrass’s Rowen - Black Mini Rex Buck

Good tris are sooo hard to find, and the black has some phenomenal fur that I’ve desperately been needing in my program, so I’m excited to see where these guys will take me 😍

Loved this idea! (Borrowed from ARS Rabbitry, who borrowed it from other breeders. Lol)

2022 Favorites (they’re all Mini Rex)

🐰 My Favorite Rabbit I Bought:
Springwood’s Marty (Seal Buck) - I brought him in towards the end of 2022, and since then, he has won 3 legs, and he only needs his senior win to earn his Grand Champion title. I am excited to show him as a senior, and even more excited to start breeding him this winter.

🐰 My Favorite Rabbit I Produced:
Hidden Mountain’s Pocket (Black Doe) - Tiny little doe that has some of the best type I’ve ever produced, and her fur is looking very promising. I am itching to show her and see what the judges think.

🐰 Best Producing Doe:
Lady’s Gia (Black/Orange Tri) - Gia gave me 2 big litters over the course of 2022. I kept two from her first litter of the year, and her current litter is looking very promising.

🐰 Best Producing Buck:
RJ’s Little Feather (Broken Black)- Although Splash’s Rocky produced more litters for me this year, Little Feather has been giving me the east type by far. I kept all 4 juniors from my last Little Feather litter, have shown multiple babies from him (with good comments from judges and a few wins), he’s the one who produced Pocket, and I have a few more litters from him that are growing out and showing tremendous promise.

🐰 Most Underrated Doe:
Hidden Mountain’s Sorta (Blue) - I honestly wasn’t planning to keep this doe, but on a whim, I took her to a show last fall, and was blown away by the comments I received. She is out of two of my very own homegrowns and is a nice, typey doe. I am so excited to see what she can produce for me this winter.

🐰 Most Underrated Buck:
Hidden Mountain’s Marcel (Blue) - Sire of Sorta. He was a buck that I hung onto mostly for sentimental reasons. I decided to breed him this year as a project, and have been pleasantly surprised at what he’s been giving me. I’m excited to breed him to a few of my nicer does this year and see how far he can take me.

🐰 Favorites (and honorable mentions):
Hidden Mountain’s Echo - Black Otter Doe
Hidden Mountain’s Belvedere - White Buck
Springwood’s Laina - Sable Doe
Hidden Mountain’s Pie - Black/Orange Tri Doe
RJ’s Half Pint - Broken Black Doe
3SR’s Skybar (“Monty”) - White Buck
Hidden Mountain’s Glitch - Blue Doe

2023 Goals:
- Make it to more shows this year
- Breed more of my homegrowns together
- Get my shaded program well-established
- Work on density in my lines
- Continue building on type improvements made in 2022

Holy cow…I don’t even know where to begin with today.

To keep a really long story short, after picking RJ (RJ's Pretty Posies Rabbitry) up to head down to the Baltimore show, we ended up with a flat tire about an hour into our trip.
2 hours later, after multiple stops and a fight with a tire plug, we were finally on the road again, set to arrive 20 minutes after the show started.

But we figured better late than never!

Thankfully this show started with youth classes first, and neither RJ nor I missed any of our classes!

And I’m so glad we made it!!! I couldn’t have asked for better judges or better comments on some of my Mini Rex.

My most exciting win was with one of my homegrown Mini Rex bucks.

Hidden Mountain’s Belvedere (White Junior Buck) won Best Opposite of Variety in Show B under Steven Buelle! This gorgeous boy has definitely earned a spot in the breeding program.

I’m also excited to announce that I am officially starting to breed shaded Mini Rex! In addition to adding a nice Smoke Pearl brood doe, I was also able to purchase a KILLER Seal Junior Buck, who won Best of Variety in both shows, and Best of Group in Show A under Kyle Yacobucci (and he got an honorable mention during Best of Breed judging). I’m so excited to start my shaded lines with Springwood’s Marty and Springwood’s Sass.

And then I ended the day by busting my thumb up pretty good. So the day was super weird and stressful at beginning and end, but the middle was pretty great. ❤️

I'm so excited to announce that we'll FINALLY be attending some shows again!

So excited for these two does!!! I finally feel like I’m making some progress in my breeding program.

Introducing for the first time ever:
Hidden Mountain’s Itty Bitty
Hidden Mountain’s Pocket-Sized

(They are 10-week-old does out of RJ’s Little Feather and RJ’s Half-Pint)

These girls are both teeny tiny, so I’m hoping they grow enough that I can add them to my winter show team.
