Rosie officially had her last round of chemo today! He has a very broken leg and while he is currently lethargic, we are working on helping him gain back his strength before we decide on the best route for her leg. We urgently need your help to save a precious life. This sweet dog was heartlessly abandoned and left to suffer. He has several painful masses, an injured hind leg, and is bleeding. His condition is critical, and he needs immediate medical attention.

Sweet Fran, you break our hearts each day. Four years you’ve been patient, waiting for a family to call your own. Fran is our LONGEST waiting resident. This sweet senior girl has a ton of pep in her step but is super chill. She would do best in a home with kids ten and up and no other pets. Fran is good on walks and car rides and loves a good puppaccino every now and then. She’s a huge fan of booty scratches and fresh cut grass…also a light rain shower. She loves sun bathing and listening to the birds.She loves wobble balls and squeaky toys and prefers a treat every few hours ☺️Fran is extremely loyal, loving and charismatic. Do you know how to make sure your dogs collar is nice and secure but not too tight?The rule of thumb is that you should be able to slip two fingers between their collar and their neck! After you’ve done that, slide the collar up towards their ears and make sure it can move up, but not over their head.Collar safety is so important as we want to make sure our companions are easy to identify if accidentally get out of their home, but also to make sure we aren’t causing damage to their windpipes or chafing their fur.🦮🐾

Olaf wanted to share a few tips on how you can show appreciate for Mother Earth, not just on Earth Day- but every day. -always pick up trash at the beach when you go. Bring an extra bag for convenience to pick up as you enjoy your day. -cut up all plastic drink holders, bend cans, and break down all cardboard and plastics you can do animals do not get stuck in them -reuse as much as you can: choose a refillable water bottle vs buying packs of water bottles. -eat less or no meat. Animal agriculture produces 65% of the world’s nitrous oxide emissionsThe last and one of the most important tips: take time each day to pause the hustle and bustle of life to appreciate the world around you. Connect back to nature by appreciating the oxygen the trees provide you, how nice the breeze feels on a hot day, take your shoes off and walk in the grass. Mother Earth is beautiful and deserves our love and respect always 💙💚

However you want to call it, we received the heartbreaking news the other day that our Olaf was coming back to us for the third time. If you remember Olaf, we were celebrating his adoption almost exactly one year ago. Prior to his last home, he had been adopted for 6 months and then just one month- with two other families.
We really thought Olaf had finally found “the one.” They had been so obsessed with him, we stayed updated until about 1.5 months ago. They had been extremely patient in the beginning until Olaf and their dog became best friends through a very slow introduction process. They spoiled him, loved him, and we really thought he was going to be there furever.
We are devastated for him to have to go through this yet again and we are quite shocked. It is to no fault of his own as they are going through challenging times as a family and have decided to settle for a permanent solution versus a temporary one. Please do not think of Olaf as a “bad dog” or a “tough dog” because he has been returned three times. It has never been his fault and he does not deserve that label or reputation.
What people don’t understand when you surrender an animal is the level of trauma you are creating for them. Olaf has been watching out the window to wait for a family that will never be coming back for him. He watched them unload the car and he began to cry. He knows what happened to him, yet again. He will hold on to each abandonment through life as he has to continually learn to trust humans after he has been failed by so many.
We are sure that if Olaf could tell you anything from this experience, it would be that you need to think long and hard before you commit to a furry companion. Please only consider surrendering or rehoming them if they are in a truly dangerous situation. It is very rarely truly in their best interest to permanently be separated from their family that they trust.
