It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of the very first JWalker Dog and the inspiration for the JWalker Harness.

Poe was born and raised in a rural environment. From the time he was born, he learned to follow and never was put on a leash, he was absolutely wonderful off-leash and would always stay nearby, listening to cues to ‘wait’ when he got too far ahead. He was very savvy around traffic and kept a respectful distance from other people or dogs. He became an incredible teacher to dogs and most amazing work partner for his mom who was a Canine Behaviour Expert.
At the age of two, Poe moved to the suburbs. For the first time in his life, he was attached to a leash.. being a power breed, Poe’s oppositional reflex was strong. Leashed walks became a nightmare. He choked himself on his flat collar, he hated a head halter, the front attachment harness restricted his ability to run and jump, a back attachment harness had us going for a ride, and the single time he ever wore a prong collar, it broke his mother’s heart. 
After researching all types of connection, points and tools, his mom decided to invent her own. And thus, the first and only side- attachment, no-pull harness was born.
 In Poe’s 13.5 years he inspired innovation, he became a wise teacher, he raised human and dog children, he amazed us with his athletic abilities, he defied the odds and he was the most incredible friend.
