I performed abdominal surgery (exploratory laparotomy) on this pup last night. She had no major findings at surgery but did have severe ileus, where the motility of the gut is affected. This was most likely due to a bad worm burden which is very common in the puppies here, especially ones like this pup that was found under a house with her little mates around 1 week old.
This photo was taken this morning. She is doing so well, has eaten, toileted and should make a full recovery!

Lucky for him the vet clinic here in Rarotonga can provide dental care, scale and polishes and extractions if necessary!

This adorable guys were in for a check up today….they’re currently being fostered until they find their forever home.

Ever wondered what an X-ray of a swan would look like? Wonder no longer…… 🦢🦢🦢
This juvenile swan got caught up in a fence and injured his wing. We anaesthetised him and x-rayed to make sure there were no breaks. Luckily it was all superficial so he got pain relief and was sent to wildlife carer to rest up and get better!

Two weeks until I head to the COOK ISLANDS to volunteer. A lot of the work involved is about controlling cat and dog population through a desexing program as well as maintaining the health and welfare of the existing animals.

COOK ISLANDS 🇨🇰 🌴🐕

I’m off to Rarotonga for the month of June to volunteer at the only vet clinic in the Cook Islands.

They rely purely on donations and volunteers to keep the clinic running so I’m trying to rally some money and supplies before I head over.

The Bondi Vet A-Team (minus a few)💪🏻
I am so lucky to get to work these all these incredible people every day. Such an amazing team. Everyone is so supportive of each other and as much as we work super hard, we also have so much fun at work everyday.
It’s been a really tough year and we’ve all had periods of burnout and exhaustion but having such a great group of workmates and friends to work with everyday is an absolute game changer.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy 2022!! ✌️

Ever wondered how we X-ray a tiny kitten paw?? With a dental X-ray plate!! The same ones that go inside the mouth of a cat or small dog….so you can get an appreciation of the teeny size.
This little explorer managed to get himself into a bit of trouble and broke one of his tiny little toes (see second pic). But don’t worry, we gave him a little splint and some pain relief and he was back to his mischievous ways in a few weeks.

Unconditional love, the best company, endless fun and the ability to always make us feel better and more positive no matter what is going on in and around our lives.
