Lost or Missing pets Brooklyn/Staten Island and Manhattan I found that by crossposting NYCAC STRAY and recinded dogs in Brooklyn and Staten Island, that my posts were being deleted by the admins. Therefore, post.

Please hang a flyer ASAP. Contact your local shelter. The purpose of this page is to give more visibility to missing pets in the NYC area, but not entirely limited to NYC. Many rescue agencies work outside that area in several states, affiliated with NYCACC including upstate NY. Please post your missing pet, search for someone else's and try to be kind. Feel free to crosspost and advocate with res

cues. Promote no-kill shelters for innocent victims of the dog catcher and his goons, like Cruella DeVille. These dogs can be adopted if the original owner isn't found, but NYC has its rules (which I think are stupid). They only deal w/New Hope rescues which complete paperwork like any idiot that can pick up a dog and take it home because well, someone owned the dog in the first place before it arrived at its current destination which needs to be adjusted in most cases. Some folks even drop off nice dogs that shouldn't be stuck where they are. FEEL FREE TO ADOPT! This is their main site: https://www.facebook.com/NYCACC?fref=ts and these are their current New Hopes: http://www.nycacc.org/NHPartners.htm

Dutchess is a 2-year-old dog who has recently found herself in need of a new home after her owner was evicted. At just 2 years old, this playful pup still has so much life to live and love to give. When Dutchess arrived for her intake exam, she approached the staff wagging her tail, seeking their attention and affection. Though she showed some mild tension in the unfamiliar environment, Dutchess was friendly overall, demonstrating her naturally sociable personality. While she did not accept treats during her exam, this could simply indicate she was feeling anxious about her new surroundings. Dutchess' previous owner described her as a very happy dog who loves to play. She enjoys jumping up to give kisses and gets great joy from playtime and toys. Dutchess sounds like a delightful, energetic dog ready to become a loving companion in a new forever home. She is still young and has so much potential to keep growing into an outstanding canine companion. With her playful, affectionate personality, Dutchess would surely bring endless joy and laughter into the life of anyone lucky enough to welcome her home.

*** PUPPY ALERT FOR 9 MTH OLD DOG ***

The shelter is no place for any dog to be but the euth list damn sure is no place for a puppy. As if it isn't bad enough that poor 9 month old Scrappy Doo has been returned!! This poor pup needs a break and doesn't seem to have experienced real love, home and family yet and that needs to change. When Scrappy came back, she was in a sorry state - unkempt, disheveled, thin, and even with green paint on her head. Her history may be a mystery but the fact that she wasn't treated very well in her last home isn't. It's clear she hasn't experienced the love and care every dog deserves.
Thirty-one pound Scrappy is out of time at the Manhattan shelter and she needs a second chance in a good home, the right home - one where she'll be safe and loved always, and never want for the latter again. Scrappy is a symbol of resilience, ready to blossom with the right family. She needs a home where she'll be cherished, safe, and never neglected again. Can you be the one to give Scrappy the love and security she's been longing for?

GONE BUT FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS

EUTH COMMAND GIVEN FOR PRETTY LIONESS WHOSE GOOD WITH CHILDREN. SHE'S HOUSETRAINED AMD PLAYFUL. JUST LOOK AT HER SWEET FACE. PLEASE STEP UP NOW AND SAFE HER LIFE NOW BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.

Urgently needs a Good Home by June 18, 2024

2 year old LIONESS, A Brave Little Soul in Need of a Loving Home 🏡 Lioness is a scared little girl with a beautiful face and gorgeous eyes, looking for a place where she can feel safe and secure once more. This past week has been especially harrowing for her, as she lost her beloved owner and the only home she has ever known. Naturally, she is terrified, and her fear was so intense that she wasn't a candidate for the handling part of her behavior assessment a few days ago—shelter staff didn't want to further stress her out. Despite her fear, Lioness's owner left behind some reassuring notes. Lioness lived harmoniously with an 8-year-old child and was tolerant and playful. She is initially shy around other dogs but warms up over time, so she will definitely benefit from a meet and greet with potential fur-siblings. She actively avoids cats. Lioness is housetrained, playful, independent, and vocal. She enjoys being around people and hanging out in the living room, though car rides make her nervous. When given the chance to get some fresh air and time outside of her kennel, Lioness slowly begins to warm up, revealing her sweet and gentle nature. What Lioness needs most is a loving home where she can feel safe and cherished. She is likely to thrive in an environment filled with patience and love. Let's help Lioness find the forever home she deserves before it's too late. Please consider opening your heart and home to this beautiful girl.

🐾 Lioness's Quick Facts:

Age: 3 years young!
Compatibility: Good with children, initially shy with dogs, avoids cats
Traits: Housetrained, playful, independent, vocal
Needs: Patient, loving home, time to adjust and feel safe

Share her story and help Lioness find her happily ever after! 🐾💕

PETRIFIED TOMMY HAS BEEN GIVEN THE EUTH COMMAND !

Urgently needs a Good Home by June 15, 2024

Handsome Tommy sure could use a little help and understanding today. You can see the pleading in his eyes in the only picture he has to represent himself during the most terrifying and confusing time of his life - when he's been added to the euthanasia list after losing his home and family. This handsome five-year-old boy has been through a lot and he has been intensely fearful in the shelter's care, which has escalated and this certainly isn't helping Tommy's case. Medically, he requires medical attention for dental disease, mild pyoderma in the groin area, and kennel cough. Combined, this could all be causing Tommy great discomfort and anxiety. Tommy arrived at the shelter following an incident with his previous owner. Despite the owner feeding him, taking him on walks, and providing water, Tommy reacted fearfully and bit his leg. The owner did not seek medical attention for the bite. Due to his behavior, the shelter recommends that Tommy be placed with one of their New Hope Partners. Tommy has potential, but he needs a patient and understanding home that can give him time to decompress and help him overcome his fears and learn to trust again. Are you the experienced and caring person who can provide Tommy with the second chance he deserves?

GOOD WITH THE SMALL DOG AND CAT HE LIVED WITH, ONE YEAR OLD ACE HAS BEEN GIVEN THE EUTH COMMAND.

A truly great puppy Ace has no support, no interest. Good with the small dog he lived with, and CATS, Ace would kiss the 6 month old baby that visited his home. Ace, however, is afraid of strangers, that’s why this timid, sweet puppy was given a bad rap by the ACC. Ace was surrendered by his people because they have NO TIME for him! This is code for “we do not know what to do with this puppy and we cannot be bothered”.

Buying a puppy, and then dumping him like his life doesn’t matter, people have gone crazy. Everyday our hearts are broken looking at these dogs’ pictures and reading their stories. No dog is born bad, and no dog is born perfect. They have to learn, to be taught, human rules. They need time, patience and love, some more than others.

This puppy Ace, has been waiting for someone to choose him, to open their home for him. Today is his last day, this puppy who is TRULY GOOD with everyone, 2 legged and 4 legged, inspite of the fact that his humans never socialized him, and we wonder if they ever trained him. Now he’s a bigger boy, no longer the cute puppy they bought, they’re done with him. They don’t even care what happens to him, if his life is taken.

Read what volunteers say about this great puppy Ace:

At risk!! I love putting my hands in Ace’s soft, shepherdy fur, but unfortunately for me, aside from short bouts of wanting to cuddle, Ace is far more interested in playing with his toys than snuggling me! And that’s ok, because he’s so entertaining: running around the yard with his lambie, tossing it to himself, occasionally resting it in my lap as he chomp, chomp chomps. The only thing that gets his attention for more than a few seconds are some enticing treats and then he’s back to play, play play!

Ace was surrendered for having no time. When he first arrived, he was so fearful he’d dodge the leash, pressing himself to the back of his kennel. Even when attempts to get him out were successful, he’d thrash about or spend his entire time in the yard pressed against the wall. But gradually, he started warming up to familiar handlers. We start to see notes of “soliciting attention, leaning into handler for pets, engaging with toys” and simultaneously a braver Ace begins to emerge. In Ace’s former home he lived with a small dog and a cat and got along well with both. He loved playing at the dog park. His favorite snacks are beef jerky, peanut butter and strawberries. Ace is also noted to have some difficulties with his back legs and will need follow up vet care. Ace is at risk for guarding behaviors exhibited both in the home and in the shelter. Due to that and his initial fearfulness, he is in need of a New Hope rescue and foster. You can express interest by filling out the prescreener from linked in our bio. Ace is 1 years old, 75 pounds and his ID is #197403

Please help Ace find his angel. He needs to be seen, how good he is needs to be told. The ACC will not give him another chance. They are in a rush to kill. He needs a home with experienced owners due to his being under socialized and fearful. That is all. Please help this beautiful puppy boy !

KILLED 🥵😭💔

TIMID, SHY KUSHINA HAS BEEN GIVEN THE EUTH COMMAND!

Never know a stable life, Kushina is a timid, wary girl who has not had the best of luck in finding love. She was adopted out in 2022, when she was just out of puppyhood, and she returned to the ACC as a homeless stray. Can we blame her for being nervous at her intake ? Kushina has seen the ugly side of humans, the side that can’t commit, that seeks the easy way out, uncaring of others, and most specifically, uncaring of their pets, who bear the brunt of it all.

Yet, Kushina chooses to open up, chooses to be kind, and warms up when spoken to in a soft voice. She knows kindness and warms up. Look at this gentle girl’s face, her eyes are trusting no matter what, she wants to believe in the goodness of humans, even if she’s been failed again and again.

Our volunteer writes: FOUR-YEAR-OLD KUSHINA is eagerly waiting to celebrate her fifth birthday this summer in a loving new home! 🌟 Don’t judge Kushina for the stress she's experiencing from her lengthy stay at the shelter. What she truly needs is a good home with an experienced adopter (or foster) who understands the importance of giving her time and space to reset. Kushina needs someone who can guide her and shower her with unconditional love. Despite her challenges, Kushina has been nothing but highly social with staff and caretakers since her arrival. Let’s share Kushina’s story far and wide to give her the second chance she so deserves. She's a social, playful, and affectionate girl who loves to shower her friends with love. Although she may need a little extra help from a new family, she warms up nicely to positive vibes and just needs to know you care. This isn't Kushina’s first stay at the shelter. She was here a couple of years ago and each time she greeted the male Helper Dog calmly with a soft body, though she got a little nervous when he started to bark. Kushina is a beautiful girl loaded with potential, just waiting for the right home. Please don’t overlook this deserving and beautiful girl. Kushina is ready to thrive in a happy, loving home. Share her story and help her find the family she’s been waiting for! ❤️🏡

Please help Kushina, she has only hours to live. No interest means she’s unwanted, that’s enough justification for them to kill her. Post in the comments or message our page for assistance if you can help this girl.

The definition of beauty! Shadow is a breathtaking, young Shepherd placed on the kill list shortly after arriving to the shelter. She does her poised breed very proud. She is healthy with a clean coat. Sadly Shadow had the misfortune of having a home where she was bullied by the other resident dog. She is trained in commands, housebroken, respectful, allows all handling and enjoys bathtime. She even likes car rides. Being locked in a kennel amongst barking and begging dogs is not ideal for her breed. She is highly social with staff and ready to find forever love. It took her just a few days to adjust to the shelter and connect with people. She has so much to offer an awesome home! The shelter will not extend her extra time, slating her for a merciless death. If you would like to save this beauty, either by fostering or adopting, please message us now before it is too late.

One year old smart puppy boy Pete has been given the euth command. Pete was found loose, walking by himself, and now because there’s no room for homeless, unwanted dogs in NYC ACC, he has only a few hours to live. We cannot believe that this very young boy has gotten no interest whatsoever. He was at first understandably scared, and flinched when they were scanning him, but Pete quickly understood what the ACC is all about, that it’s a “safe” place for lost or homeless puppies like him ! He immediately adapted and did great in his behavior evaluation. He is a social and friendly puppy, and like most puppies, he needs guidance and patience. He has the makings of a great canine companion, in the hands of an experienced, committed and loving human. Please, let’s not let this baby be killed for being unwanted and homeless. In a world full of cynicism, a dog’s love is the only pure and sure thing. Many puppies have been killed, please help Pete. Please get him seen.

Garden was discovered tied up and left behind, and now he's eager for a fresh start in life. Struggling to adapt to the shelter surroundings, this young lad deserves the chance to thrive beyond its confines. Let's help Garden bloom into his true potential!

Poor little Garden, the young, compact (37lbs) male puppy who has endured such a difficult start to life. This handsome, darling boy was heartbreakingly dumped and left to fend for himself on the harsh streets of New York City. At just 1 year old, he's still a baby, so scared and uncertain of the world after being abandoned by the only family he's ever known. It's no wonder he's skittish and timid - the poor pup must be absolutely terrified, wondering if he'll ever find a safe, loving home again. But with patience, compassion and a calm, nurturing environment, Garden can absolutely learn to trust and blossom into the affectionate, confident companion he's meant to be. It will take time and effort to help this lovebug decompress and rebuild his self-assurance, but the rewards will be immeasurable. Showers of gentle praise, reassuring cuddles, and a predictable routine will go a long way in making Garden feel secure. And once he learns that his new family will never hurt or abandon him, you'll get to witness the pure joy of watching this sweet boy's spirit come alive. Though his start in life has been difficult, Garden's story doesn't have to end in sadness. With the right home, he can go on to live a wonderful, happy life filled with love, playfulness and the safety he deserves. Providing this precious pup the time and space he needs is the greatest gift you could give.

Three year old Blu Boy only has one picture to represent him during the most important day of his life—the day that decides if he lives or dies. In this photo, you can't fully appreciate his handsome seventy-pound frame or the beautiful brindle stripes that make him so unique. Striped dogs like Blu Boy often go unnoticed, but we're here to ensure that Blu isn’t disregarded. This loving family dog was surrendered to the shelter because his owner had landlord issues. Now, we need to find him a home where he is welcome. Blu has lived harmoniously with children and a small dog, and he even did well with visiting children. He is social, affectionate, active, playful, and independent, and he loves car rides. When meeting new people in the home, Blu initially hides but soon tiptoes out to see what’s going on and ends up making friends with everyone. It’s safe to say that Blu Boy is a social, good boy in a bad situation, desperately in need of your help to secure a second chance. Blu knows basic commands, does well in a crate for a few hours, and is described as enthusiastic. He will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. If you are moved by his puppy face and the pleading in his eyes to survive this dreaded day, please consider opening your heart and home to this beautiful soul in need. Blu is healthy, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. Help us give Blu Boy the life he deserves—full of love, safety, and joy. If you’re ready to make a difference in his life, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

GONE BUT FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS

Euth command given for this affectionate pup Parrot !

ABANDONED IN AN APARTMENT WITH POSSIBLY HIS SON PARAKEET WHO HAS BEEN ADOPTED MONTHS AGO, Parrot arrived at the ACC, all loose and wiggly, so happy and grateful that he and his son were rescued. And today, Parrot’s long wait will finally be over, he has not gotten any interest, with so many puppies on the kill list and at the ACC, no one bothered to look his way.

Yet this boy is overflowing with love and devotion, the same love and loyalty he had given to those unsavory characters that were his humans, who abandoned Parrot and Parakeet when they moved out, as if dogs are unwanted furniture.

Parrot loves people, and is good with dogs, but due to kennel stress, being caged for a long time, and taken out only 1 hour a day, if he’s lucky, he has began to cage fight. He has all this unused pent up energy and he is suffering from it.

Please help Parrot have a happy ending, not in a garbage bag. After his ordeals, abandonment and failure to find a home at the ACC, (not his fault as the ACC has awful pics of this handsome boy ) he deserves a loving committed home. It hurts our hearts to think that his quest to find new humans to love will end in his death. Please help him, he needs to be seen, he is not a big boy, but definitely big on love and loyalty. Please help !

Today is National Lost Dog Awareness Day. Did you know that if your dog lands in a shelter as a stray he might be held for only 48 hours before being placed for adoption?
If he has visible ID or a registered microchip it will greatly increase the chances of him being returned to you. Have a plan in place if your dog goes on an unsupervised adventure. Know where you should register him as lost and have a list of phone numbers for animal control or the police department. Have a current photo ready to upload to flyers or shelters. Check his collar tags today and log on to his microchip profile to make sure your information is up to date.
