Shelby Cook's Gold Award - Training Lily My Gold Award project is to make educational videos promoting a safe, effective, and kind method of horsemanship geared towards rescue horses.

My name is Shelby Cook, and I am a Senior Girl Scout in Guthrie Girl Scout Troop 516, and a sophomore in high school. I am currently working toward earning my Gold Award, the highest award a girl can earn in Girl Scouting. My Gold Award project is to make educational and tutorial videos about training and caring for rescue horses. I will be making these videos as a long-term resource for Blazes Tr

ibute Equine Rescue for utilization with anyone who may be interested in training a horse using my methods, which will be geared toward rescue horses. I believe in a humble, safe, consistent, and effective method of horsemanship that values softness and kindness to the animal. I have worked with horses for several years and have started and put a good foundation on a rescue horse, so I am confident in my abilities and also have my trainer who can help me at any time I hit an inevitable roadblock. Blazes Tribute Equine Rescue will utilize these videos for potential trainers as well as for the adoptive families of their horses. My purpose for making these videos is to show people that rescue horses can make just as good of horses as any other kind of horse, in the right hands. It may take a couple extra steps, but I am confident in my abilities and with the support of the people around me, I hope I can make this project a success to help give horses a purpose.
