Meet our walker and camp councilor Carly!!!

She just moved back to Charleston a few months ago and loves spending time with dogs and cats alike. The quirkier the pet, the more she falls in love. She also enjoys connecting and talking with pet owners, so if you see her feel free to say hello! There are a variety of different fruits that dogs can eat safely and many of them can actually provide your dog with additional vitamins and nutrients. It is important to only give your dog fruits in moderation and to start slowly to make sure they don’t have a negative reaction when you give them a new type of food.

Whether you’ve got a dog, cat, or tiny critter, make sure they have a warm, draft-free space to relax. For cats, a sunny window perch with a blanket can do wonders for their mood. Anxiety in dogs can be triggered by a number of things including loud noises, abandonment, travel, and fear of being alone.

Dogs may show signs of anxiety by…

Behavior: pacing, whining, hiding, digging
Vocalization: barking, howling, excessive sneezing
Physical signs: panting, drooling, trembling, or low tail
Other signs: excessive licking, not eating, or sudden urination
Body language: ears back, dilated eyes, whale eyes
Aggression: growling or biting

Rowena is beyond sweet and such a loving girl that craves attention. This energetic girl is very puppy like and would do best in a home (no apartments) with another playful dog and a fenced in yard to run around with her new best friend. She is also good with children.

**This dog is heartworm positive and will be treated by the rescue and will be available for foster to adopt for a local family in or near Charleston, SC that is comfortable with the restriction requirements for the duration of treatment.

Gordo is a medium energy big love bug who wants to be your best friend. He loves to go on walks and adventures, and does fantastic on car rides. He also does a great job settling into his crate for rest or sleep. He gets along great hanging and playing with other dogs, but it’s recommended to separate him when food is out. Gordo is completely unaware of his size (we’re working on it), so for this reason he is not recommended for families with small children.

Are you looking for a ride or die snuggle buddy? Well look no further. Bruno is a redbone coonhound looking for his fur-ever family. This handsome weirdo is WONDERFUL with other dogs and cats although he would be just as happy to be your only friend. Bruno sometimes has resource guarding issues and would do best in a home with older children. Bruno has done very well with learning all the basic house manners and leash walking. The thrill of a car ride or a leisurely stroll are the highlight of his day. He is very eager to please and does not always understand the concept of personal space and loves to throw his weight  around  your lap. Bruno does well in a kennel or left to his own devices to snuggle on a couch or cozy bed.

Abe is a sweet boy who is slowly coming out of his shell. He loves walks but also likes to sleep. He is good with people, kids, dogs, and cats. Abe is becoming more comfortable with passing cars, golf carts, and stairs. He is hesitant to get in a car, so we have to lift him, but he is fine once in the car and will jump out of the car. His silliness is starting to shine through the more comfortable he becomes.
