We are hiring!
Looking for a self-motivated kennel assistant for Saturday and Sunday mornings (7-9am). Duties include taking dogs outside to play area, cleaning/disinfecting kennels, food/water, laundry and bringing dogs back inside. Checking that cats have food, water and clean litterbox.
Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
Must be able to handle large, energetic dogs.
Options for more hours may be possible.

Open Saturday 10-2pm for Dog and Cat adoptions! We offer a 1 week trial on all dogs before finalizing adoptions.
We would love for our 4 lab mix puppies to find loving homes soon! They are very scared being in a shelter environment.

Today is Change a Pets Life Day!
UPDATE! CARDAMOM HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
We have chosen these three boys as the ones who need their lives changed the most.

For dogs, we offer a 1 week trial run, take them home and see how they fit in with your life.

Apollo is a sweet, playful 4 year old large mutt. He loves other dogs and has done good with cats. His ideal home will have a fenced-in yard for him to run around and explore. Apollo has spent the majority of his life in a shelter. He loves car rides! Apollo graduated from beginner obedience class in December, where he worked on leash walking and commands sit, come, and down. He is a very smart boy!

Luckey is a gentle, lazy 18 month old pitbull. He does amazing with kids and previously lived with young kids. He would love to be the only animal in the home so he can shower you with affection anytime he wants. He is currently enrolled in Beginner Obedience, and by the end of class, he is ready for a nap and belly rubs.

Cardamom is a big, beautiful black cat. He is under 2 years old but is reaching his 1 year anniversary of being at the shelter. He has grown up around other cats and lots of people visiting him. He can be grumpy towards other cats, but being in a home, he would have more space to himself. He is such a handsome boy.

We are open Wednesday-Friday 11-4pm for cat adoptions and Saturday 10-2pm for dog and cat adoptions. We also have appointments available for adoptions most days between 4-6pm, those can be set up by messaging us.

Ice and Boots are so excited to find their families!
Ice is an 8 month old sweet tabby girl. Boots is a 5 month old lab mix.
We are open 11-6pm Thursday for cat adoptions. Dogs available from 4-6pm.

The kittens love our hammocks!
These 5 grow up in a foster home together and still love hanging out.
Misty is the shyest. She is a very pretty grey tortie. She takes time to warm up but loves snuggling her foster mom.
The other 4 are part of our Outlaw litter. Boys, Billy the kid and Jesse James, are snuggled up top. Girls, Calamity Jane and Belle Starr, are shoved in the bottom. They are very outgoing and love attention!

UPDATE: On a home visit
Bonded Seniors Shih Tzus

Where are our small dog lovers? Poe and Bella were surrendered today due to owners health. Poe is 8 year old male and Bella is a 12 year old female. They are potty pad trained and use to an adult home. They are nervous and will take time to warm up. There whole life has been turned upside down. We would love to find them a home together!

They can be visited Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4-6pm or Saturday 10-2pm.

Open Saturday 10-2pm for dog and cat adoptions. We have several dogs that get along with kids, cats, and other dogs!
Our 5 month old puppies are ready to start looking for homes. Mom is a mini aussie. One of the dads is a mini aussie, and the other is a black lab. They will be fully vetted next week and ready to go home. We would love to have homes lined up for them after the spay/neuter appointments.

So many great cats and kittens are still looking for a home! Open Wednesday-Friday 11-4pm and Saturday 10-2pm for cat adoptions. We will be open Saturday for dog adoptions/meetings.

Sweet 5 month old girls Midnight and Annie were snuggled up in their double hammock last night ready for bed. We are sure they dreamed about having a home to run in and a family to love.
We are open Thursday-Friday 11-4pm and Saturday 10-2pm or by appointment.

Special Needs Cats

Clover and Guinness came to the shelter last spring. During their vetting process, they were diagnosed with Feline Leukemia Virus. This virus attacks their immune system and can be transmitted to other cats. Clover and Guinness have remained healthy while at the shelter and in their foster home. They were garage cats in their foster home but were brought back due to th3 cold weather. We would love to find them a new home together! They are just over a year old, very sweet large cats.

They can be adopted to other houses with Feline Leukemia Positive cats or as the only cats.

Come visit them Wednesday-Friday 11-4pm and Saturday 10-2pm.

Our last years babies are growing up!

These are just some of the 100+ kittens we took in last spring/summer. We have 20 kittens between 6-9 months old. They are still playful and curious but have outgrown some of their kitten antics.

Pinto is in need of a shelter break!

Pinto is a young Pit mix bursting with energy. He loves zooming around the play yards and playing with rope toys. Pinto's ideal home will be the only animal with adults only or with older teenagers. He does not do well with cats, dogs, or young children at this time. When he first came to us in August, he loved playing with dogs and was a super sweet boy who loved all people. In 5 months, he has been so stressed out his personality has changed. We would love for him to find a foster or adoptive home. He desperately needs out of our shelter.

We LOVE having dog training in Grinnell! They are so helpful with issues with our dogs and let us bring a current PALS dog thru beginner training each session! This session Lucky is the chosen one. Their intermediate class has 4 former PALS dogs!
They also offer a discount for our adopted dogs if signed up within 30 days of adopting.

Snow Day at PALS!

Thank you to Tylia Kaisand for donating the toys for our dogs. We were able to capture a few of them picking out their favorite.

Turn volume up for cute Tober noises! Tober was brought to Grinnell & Lynnville-Sully Veterinary Clinics after almost being hit by a car on Friday. He is a tiny baby weighing in at just 1.5 lbs. Tober is receiving treatment for an upper respiratory and eye infection. He is tiny, but his meow and purrs can be heard throughout the cat room! We have 60 animals available to adopt this week! Including 14 dogs and 33 kittens under 9 months old! Our Home for the Holiday Sale is still going on! Thanksgiving week, our hours will be Tuesday 4-6pm for dogs and cats and Friday 11-4 for cats only. Saturday 10-2pm for cats. Dogs are viewable by appointment only unless noted.

13 kittens were found in Kellogg and brought to us by a Good Samaritan. We could really use monetary donations to help with their care.

Come Volunteer with PALS!

Our Valentine Treat winners are... Spitfire and Bixby!! Spitfire got an extra special tuna pouch and a (probable) adopter! Bixby got a new dog bed! She had to fully sniff it over before curling up on it. Thank you to all those who donated a Valentine to our animals. We raised close to $400, which will help pay for spaying/neutering our animals.

Bam Bam is a high energy kitten! He would do great as an only cat with some dog friends. He is still at his foster home, please message us if interested in him. Scroodge would love a home with a confident kitten. He will be available to go home on January 31st We are open Wednesday-Friday 11-4pm and Saturday 10-2pm or by appointment.

Chowder is an amazing dog! He a little goofy, a little sweet and has a dash of ornery. He does great hanging out in the cat room and is dog-friendly. He loves people! He is guessed to be around 1 year old. Last weekend for our $50 adult dogs! We are open Wednesday-Friday 11-4pm and Saturday 10-2pm. Applications can be filled out at www.palspets.net
