If you have any information regarding him please message PALS.

We are completely FULL. We have no more space for dogs or cats. Absolutely no open kennels and can't combine any more dogs.

We can't believe these boys are still here!
Cupid, Arrow and Valentine are our smallest and youngest available kittens. They are just over 3 months old and super playful. Cupid is the tabby boy. He is the shyest and calmest but has been coming out of his shell more each day.
Arrow is a mix of calm and energy. He wrestles with Valentine and snuggles with Cupid.
Valentine is a bundle of energy. He is non-stop kitten playfulness.

Come meet them Wednesday-Friday 1-6pm and Saturday 10-2pm.

It's the final week of March, and we are so close to hitting our goal of adopting out 7 dogs! We are only 2 dogs away and have several approved applicants we are hoping will come visit. Even with 5 dogs adopted, our kennels are still full between siblings being housed together and 3 newcomers.

Waylon is our longest resident. He is just over 9 years old and has spent the past 9 months with us. He is still very active and would love to go on walks or have a fenced-in area to explore. He needs a home without cats and would do best as the only dog.

Luckey is 1-2 years old. He is a big lover of people, including little kids. He excelled in Beginner Obedience. He still has some energy but would prefer to be a couch potato. Luckey prefers being the only dog in your life. He does great on a leash around other dogs. He has done okay with cats. We can retry him with cats if needed.

Come visit us Wednesday-Friday 1-6pm and Saturday 10-2pm or by appointment.

Our dog room is full of siblings!
We have 15 dogs and 9 of have a sibling here, too!
Magenta and Lavendar are 1 year old retriever mixes. They have long, fluffy hair. Super sweet and calm. Lavendar is a little more outgoing than Magenta, but both do well with other dogs and cats.

Roscoe and Oscar are 9 month old mutts. They are energetic and playful! They have done great meeting other dogs. Both are very outgoing.

Jill and Jack are 1 year old basset/lab mixes. Jill is full of energy and would do best as the only dog. She is built like a smaller lab. Jack is full of energy and loves using his nose to sniff things out. He has done great playing with other large dogs. He is built more like a basset hound. Both would do best in a home without cats or small animals.

JJ, Junior, and Cookie are our youngest dogs. At 7 months old, they have spent about 3 months in the shelter. The are lab/Australian Shepherd mixes. Junior is the biggest, and Cookie is the smallest. They have very little experience outside of the shelter and would do best with another dog in the home.

Come visit us Wednesday-Friday 1-6pm and Saturday 10-2pm or by appointment.

We have 12 adult cats looking for homes! They range from 1-4 years old. They are commonly overlooked for the younger, playful kittens.

Florence, Merrie, and Carol are our remaining mommas from 2024. They have raised their last litter and watched them all find homes.
Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum, and Scarlett were adopted out as kittens, and due to life circumstances, they were returned to us.

Eclair, Cannoli, and Cloud are some of our laziest cats. Give them a soft, warm space to lay, and they are happy.

Guiness and Clover are FeLeuk positive. They are bonded siblings who need to be the only cats in the home. They are super friendly and playful.

Come visit them Wednesday-Friday 1-6pm and Saturday 10-2pm.

Poweshiek Animal League Shelter (PALS) Responds to Animal Hoarding Situation
Grinnell, IA, March 14, 2025 – On Friday, March 14, 2025, the Poweshiek Animal League Shelter (PALS) was alerted to an animal hoarding situation involving 24 cats. PALS Operations Manager Shannon Foreman and volunteer Emily Renbarger swiftly responded to the call, successfully extracting the cats from a home where the tenant had been evicted.
The rescued cats are currently undergoing thorough medical evaluations and assessments. Following these evaluations, they will receive the necessary veterinary care to ensure their health and well-being.
PALS, a small shelter with limited capacity, can accommodate approximately 60% of the rescued cats. The remaining cats will be transported to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in Des Moines, where they will receive further care. All will be placed up for adoption at PALS or the ARL once medically cleared.
"We are grateful for the support of the ARL in Des Moines," said Shannon Foreman, Operations Manager at PALS. "Their assistance is crucial in ensuring that all these cats receive the care they need and find loving homes."
PALS is calling on the community for support during this critical time. Donations are greatly appreciated and can be made by visiting our website at palspets.net/donate or by sending a check to PO Box 123, Grinnell, IA 50112.
For more information, please contact: Shannon Foreman Operations Manager, PALS Email: [email protected]

JJ is one of three Lab/Aussie mix puppies we have available. She is very timid with new things and people. We are working on building JJ's confidence by talking her to Puppy Training Classes at Who's Leading Who, LLC.
Once JJ learns to trust, she will be the most loyal dog ever! She is slowly coming out of her shell and would love a a family to help her.
We are open Wednesday-Friday 1-6pm and Saturday 10-2pm to meet all our dogs and cats.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Guinness and Clover have been in our care for over a year! They came in as kittens and have grown up at the shelter. They are very loveable, playful siblings.
They are in need of a special family. Guiness and Clover have been diagnosed with Feline Leukemia Virus. This virus weakens their immune system and will lead to a shortened life (around 7 years). This virus can be transmitted to other cats thru grooming and sharing food bowls.
Guiness and Clover are looking for a place they can be the only cats. They have done great with kids and dogs. They would be great shop cats, but they can not be outdoor cats.
If you are interested in giving these two a home, message us or stop by the shelter!

Sprite and Crush's first birthday 🎂 is next month!
These girls are the last ones from our 12-pack of pop litter. The group was found in a pop box last May by Kellogg during the flood. Both girls are friendly and laid-back. They enjoy the company of other animals or are content to hang out by themselves.
We would love for them to be in a home by their Birthday!
Come visit them Wednesday-Friday 1-6pm and Saturday 10-2pm.

Jack and Tank

These boys are so friendly towards people and dogs. Both are guessed to be just over a year old.
Jack is a basset/lab mix. He has the nose and legs of a basset and the exuberant personality of a lab. Jack does great with big dogs, both male and female. He thinks small dogs and cats are toys to chase, best in a home without.

Tank is a medium-sized long-haired mutt weighing around 55 lbs. He loves leaning up against your legs for pets. He is laidback and doesn't get excited about much. He has done good with other dogs.

If you prefer female dogs, both of these boys came in with their sisters. Jill, jacks sister, would do best as the only dog. Magenta and Lavender do great with other dogs.

Come visit them during our NEW HOURS Wednesday-Friday 1-6pm and Saturday 10-2pm.

We are looking for foster homes for our pregnant/nursing cats and eventually weaned kittens.
Great opportunity for families to help!
A spare room (office, guest room, laundry/bathroom) are perfect areas for mom and small babies. We have a few kennels we can offer for pregnant/tiny babies to keep them in an even smaller area.
If interested in fostering for the first time with us; fill out an application at www.palspets.net
If you have previously fostered, send us a message on what you would be interested in fostering.
The more foster homes, the more we can help control the kitten population.
