Darlington Rescue is a dedicated team of volunteers whose goal is to reduce the euthanasia rate at Darlington County Humane Society, improve the health of all shelter pets through providing veterinary, and medical care, and to provide a safe and loving care at the 'Bridge' facility while waiting to transport to approved Rescue partners. Due to a lack of funds, our pets would go untreated for injur

ies and illness, and their options at finding homes would be limited at best. Through Darlington Rescue, you and many others can provide the help our pets need to bring them closer to their new forever home.

😍HAS RESCUE😍

SMITH…❤️Smith, 1-2 year old 55 lb heart worm negative terrier mix arrived as a stray in August. He had a collar on so he must have had a family but no one ever came looking for him. Smith is such a handsome and charming fella! He is easy going and polite among both dogs and volunteers. Smith LOVES kids! He enjoys playing fetch and is highly trainable. Smith is located in Hartsville SC, ask for him today!

🩷Our awesome volunteers Lynn and Cheryl did the first can collection and run to the recycling center on Monday. $163.20 was raised and the van was full! Only half the drop off site was able to be emptied, but there’s lots of room for more cans! Thank you for your support, it’s so nice to see the new shelter collection site with so many cans to recycle♻️. Our Darlings appreciate your continued support, and we thank Lynn and Cheryl for their continued hard work getting this done.

🚀ROCKET had a great time during his Paws Around the P*e Dee adventure on Saturday. Always smiling, Rocket was happy to make new friends and give out some kisses. He enjoys a good snuggle and will happily jump up to sit beside his person. Rocket’s companions for the day described him as “sweet, compact and charming”. Another lover boy looking for rescue or adoption, ask to meet Rocket!

❤️Handsome Rocket is a sweet 2 year old 43 lb heart worm positive terrier/boxer mix who arrived with sibling Lylla in August. Rocket is dog friendly and walks well on leash. Rocket currently resides at the outdoor Bridge Facility and would love to get into a warm, comfy home soon.

❤️Rocket is such a polite boy. He walked so nicely on the leash and was very friendly to all the dogs he met as well as others through the fence. He has a propeller tail that doesn’t stop wagging. He’s a nice medium size and was happy to meet both male and female dogs. Rocket loved meeting a Junior volunteer too. 🐾🐾Are you looking for a handsome, snuggly, kissy kind of boy? Vin Diesel will happily be your forever love. He’s a 4 1/2 year old, 58 lb heart worm positive lab/terrier mix who arrived as a stray in August. He adores his person, is good with kids and other dogs, walks nicely on a leash and has waited so long to be noticed. Kennel life is hard on a dog like Vin, can someone please help him?

❤️Vin Diesel had a great time during his Paws Around the P*e Dee field trip. His adventure partner said he enjoyed walking around town, was good on a leash, enjoyed meeting new people, and was friendly, calm, gentle and sweet. He liked his car ride, loved his pup cup and the other treats. Vin enjoyed some affection from our Junior volunteer before he went out on his trip too, rolling over for some awesome belly rubs ! Vin has met other dogs in play groups and did well. Vin is hoping for a home with a comfy couch, someone to snuggle with and to be their forever dog. Please share Vin, located in Hartsville SC.

‼️EMERGENCY CARE CHIP IN FOR MERLIN‼️UPDATE CHIP IN FILLED‼️

🆘Merlin was found injured at a local gas station. He was lethargic, confused and could barely walk. He was taken to the ER and determined to be suffering from severe head trauma😰. He was given sub-q and meds by injection and kept on rest for the night then taken to our vet the next morning. He was unable to eat, barely walking, and could not see. He required several days of hospitalization. He is walking better, eating now and has regained a little vision. We had to jump to action to provide hospitalization to Merlin. We would really appreciate your support to help with this emergency care that gives Merlin a chance at recovery.

🩷Glinda was out and about during the Paws Around the P*e Dee event and enjoyed walking around town and visiting Wild Heart. Her handler described her as a calm, laid back pretty girl who is also a foodie. She’s got pretty good leash skills, and was more interested in people than other dogs. No cats for her, they are way too interesting for this girl.

🩷Glinda is a 2-3 year old, 46 lb heart worm negative bulldog/boxer mix that arrived as a stray last October. She had a collar on so she must have had a family. Sweet and affectionate, Glinda seems to be all about her people, and although she got along with other dogs in play groups she really loves her person. 🐾🐾Pretty Sia enjoyed her time out and about in Hartsville today during her Paws Around the P*e Dee Pal-entine💕 adventure. This pretty girl loved the attention and hopes to find a home soon. She’s a 1 1/2 year old blue heeler/cattle dog mix/shepherd mix, medium size at 42 lbs, and heart worm positive. Sia fully melted into this kind man she met at Purrs McBarkin'. Anyone who was patient and slow with her, she would sit on their feet and soak in the affection. This pretty lady is dog and kid friendly, please ask for her today. Sia is located in Hartsville SC.

Sia’s Pal-entine partner had this to say about Sia…I just wanted to take a minute to introduce y'all to my beautiful friend, Sia. I had the pleasure of being her field trip partner during the Paws Around the P*e Dee Adventure yesterday. She has been at the shelter since 8/6/2024 (that's SIX MONTHS 😰). Sia is struggling with her confidence, but really enjoyed meeting people during our trip who went slow with her. She liked the kids, and looked to the other dogs walking nearby for a confidence boost. There was an obvious improvement in Sia's confidence, leash skills, and trust in the very short time we had her, but she will definitely need someone who can be patient with her and let her love them at her own speed. She would probably flourish in a home with another confident dog to help her out. Sia knows how to sit, and is a smart, quiet gentle girl.

😟New arrival Maggie was found in her kennel lethargic and passing brown urine. She was rushed to the vet where her temperature was 103.9, and she was diagnosed with pyrometra. Immediate surgery was needed, and when Maggie was opened up, the Dr. found she also had peritonitis, where her abdomen was full of blood and pus😢. Poor Maggie was extremely sick and her life was on the line. We are grateful she has survived her surgery, as we continue to monitor her closely in hospitalization. We had to jump to action, and Maggie hopes you will donate to help cover her lifesaving emergency surgery. We need your support. Our Story

Darlington Rescue is a dedicated team of volunteers whose goal is to reduce the euthanasia rate at Darlington County Humane Society. With only a small percentage of our pets being locally adopted we rely heavily on rescues to save our homeless pets. We provide full vetting for all of our pets immediately upon arrival and place a high priority on making sure everyone is vaccinated and has the best medical care possible. Our Bridge Boarding Facility, an extension of the rescue program, is solely funded by donations and provides a safe haven for pets with extenuating medical conditions and or are in need of a temporary place to call home til they transport to their rescue group. Bridge Boarding frees up valuable kennel space at the shelter making room for that next homeless pet. By supporting DCHS Rescue, you are directly impacting and saving lives each and every day.
