Chesapeake AndOhio Tromp
Princess Chesapeake AndOhio Tromp, passed peacefully December 20, 2023. Chessie, aka Chessica, Chessiefur, Tiny, and The Prettiest Tabbie In The Whole Wide House, was born July 16, 2008 in a barn in rural Rhinelander, WI. She joined our family on a rainy August day, which brightened it immediately. She was shy with strangers, and the only dog she ever trusted was Morgan, who also went over the Rainbow Bridge too early, when Chessie was just a kitten.
Chessie enjoyed sunny spots, hiding under the blankets or in her “closet of solitude” when she was not snuggling in her mom’s lap.
Chessie was a chatty girl who would converse with you; if you asked her a question, she would “murp” an answer. She gave the best head boops and purrs of comfort. She was diligent about her chores, as well. In the morning she would remind Mom to take her “treats” (morning pills) and at night Chessie would remind her to set up the coffee pot. Of course, she was rewarded with a snack for her efforts. How did she remind us? She would stretch up the side of the cabinet that held the coffee pot (and pills) and “run” her front paws against it in the most adorable manner. Of course, she kept up a running commentary until the chore was completed and she had her Temptations.
Chessie is survived by her people, Trent and Kat, and her kitty sister Dynamite Coltrane Chicago Tromp. She is also survived by her human sister, Chris Erkkila (Jason), niece Carlee and nephew Brian and their kitties Smoky Joe, Dixie and Skeeter, and human brother Hunter (Valerie). She will be missed by her doggy niece Dolly Barkin Tromp, who tried her best to befriend our shy girl.
Thank you to Homestead Animal Hospital and Dr. French for helping her with this journey.
Chessie will not be forgotten. For fourteen years she brought such love and joy into our home. Rest easy, Little One.
