Today Mississippi Mud’s Autumns Runnin Like She’s on Fire ( Autumn ) crossed the rainbow bridge. She got hugs and kisses from our daughter Olivia. She got spoiled one last meal of a Wendy’s burger and chicken nuggets.

As a breeder and trainer the ultímate goal is produce a dog that others want offspring from…Autumn fit this bill. She was an excellent mother that produced excellent offspring.

Autumn, you truly were a dog that others enjoyed being around and hunting over. You were easy to train and truly the first dog I attempted to run through a casting program. You were everything a waterfowler could ask for.

As a hunter…and especially a die hard like myself you want a dog that is willing and able to endure whatever you throw their way. Autumn was all of that and then some. I have fellow hunting buddies that can attest to her sheer tenacity that she hunted with. My only regret is not getting more photos and videos of your awesome retrives.

They say that you are lucky if you get one good dog in your lifetime…that isn’t the case with me as your mom was just like you and your daughter the same.

RIP Autumn. I hope you are fetching greenheads and geese in heaven with Rowdy, Cabela, Diesel and Ace. I can only hope the hunters never miss and the birds never stop decoying.

Snoop at 7 months starting the force fetch process! For day 2 I’d say she’s doing pretty well! First time having her hold a real wing…pretty common that puppies want to spit stuff out right away until they get used to this process.

Last Minnesota Hunt for the year yesterday was bittersweet as the birds are finally showing up and the season closes tomorrow. Mississippi Mud’s The Honey Badger Don’t Care made 6 great retrieves for me.

Taking a dog that you’ve trained for over a year on his or her first official hunt and having them behave and do the job is one of the most rewarding feelings ever. This dog is eager to please and energetic but a little soft at the same time. She did an exceptional job today and retrieved all 4 ducks I shot. It only gets better from here Mississippi Mud’s Lil Marsh Addict.
