2 years ago, Letty became a Huff. She mellowed mostly (except she gets VERY excited for treats-she frequently jumps in her water bowl while running to get to them), adores hubs, & has tried very hard to learn to bunny. She still hasn’t figured out how to groom others (she tries to bite eyeballs), but she loves doing zoomies with George (one will be in their respective pen and the other will run outside it). We are forever grateful that held her for us! Happy Gotcha Day, Letty!

Letty, the very rare bunny unicorn. How she didn’t feel the piece of hay sticking out of her head baffles me. But this is also the same kid who jumps into her water bowl when she gets the zoomies, so….she is such a silly girl!
Happy 8th Gotcha Day to P**a! This little sassypants has been through so much since becoming a Huff, yet she remains a spitfire. She tries to box at the vet when getting her nails done, hates when I groom her (yet clearly feels so much better after I do) & has only recently started to tolerate nose pets (but don’t try to pet her ears!). We love you, our tough girl! ❤️ **a
Gracie crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning. Our grumpy potato came to us after her family of 7+ years didn’t want her anymore. In July 2019 she became a Huff with the hope she would bond with George. Well, old lady had no patience for his toddler antics so that didn’t work out. But she grew to love the humans. She went from ‘I will try to eat your face’ to ‘yes, Mom, you can degoop my eyes multiple times a week.’ She loved fabric too much so wasn’t allowed any in her pen. Her favorite activity was bunstruction on her cardboard house (she went through dozens over the years). On Monday, she was the most active I’ve ever seen her, doing binkies & visiting the other buns (I’ve decided she was telling them to be extra good because we were about to be very sad). Yesterday she was lethargic & today she decided she was ready. At over 12 years old, she lived a good life & passed peacefully, knowing she was loved. We will miss you Gracie girl 💔
Letty, the bunny that the shelter put on the ‘bye’ list due to aggression. Look at her. Cute little paw sticking out of her box house. Sweet little snuggle bug on her bed. A little safety & love does wonders! It’s been about a year & a half with this silly girl ❤️
Holly prefers being on her left side, so I rarely get a chance to see her gorgeous coloring on her right side-& then when it happens & I try to take a photo, she moves of course. But this time I got her!!
For those worried about us flooding in California, where we live it is safe. Pepper, however, will tell you the sky is falling.
Yesterday the kids each got a pie to celebrate George’s birthday. George had his demolished within 30 minutes, while the rest of the kids happily nibbled on theirs all day.
Happy 5th Gotcha Day to our sweet George. His right ear is always alert (we are pretty sure from his initial wounds), his soul is always happy, & his brain is always-well, he’s not the brightest. But we love this mountain of energy, affection, & silliness!! He’s now the only boy bun & the girls mostly ignore him, but he still keeps trying to be friends ❤️

P**a is never sick. Never. So when she was acting off this week, I was going crazy trying to figure out what was wrong. Today I groomed her & discovered the problem-had a clump of poo stuck just under her tail-enough to make her uncomfortable. She had been fighting me while I groomed her, but once I removed the offending issue, she settled down. Bunnies are tough because they can’t always communicate WHAT is wrong-but we always eventually figure it out! **a #💩

This is pretty much exactly how Puddles looked in my dream. Adorable, squishy & clearly needing to be a Huff. Wonder how long until I find Puddles?

Last night I had a dream that a tiny black Shar Pei puppy ended up at our house & we found him outside being taken care of by Barb. The puppy had a cleft lip & I named him Puddles. So, just know that I will now be looking at all shelters & rescues for a black Shar Pei pup with a cleft lip-because that baby is going to be Puddles Huff 😂

George let me have snuggle time while we waited for the ball to drop last night. I think he forgets how much he enjoys snuggle time-& then when I make him get on the couch, he melts ❤️
My grief spiral began November 2022, when Rupert crossed the Rainbow Bridge. It continued as over the next 6 months, we lost Dusty, several human loved ones, & started to deal with the reality of an aging parent. I started back with my therapist, I worked on my grief, & more arrived. My loved ones lost humans & fluffs, & my heart ached for them. There were some rays of sunshine throughout the year & without those, I don’t know if I could have gotten through. There will still be lingering grief as we turn the page into 2024, but I am hopeful there will be more sunshine than clouds & I can be more present. I’ll be taking one day at a time & allowing myself grace. And snuggling my bunnies, spending time with the cats (but no snuggles-I like breathing too much), & spending more time with my human loved ones sounds like a good plan for 2024. Happy New Year!!

A year ago today, Holly came to our house, with plans to be a ‘one month foster.’ She had a leg injury in a splint but was not fearful & immediately won us over with her sweet nature. Even though it was several months later until she was officially adopted as a Huff, let’s face it-this is her Gotcha Day! She is always busy (even trying to take her picture is a challenge because she’s always moving!), loves rearranging her pen, digging in her busy box (cardboard box filled with toys and shredding items), & even though she is prone to bouts of GI stasis every 2-3 months, she’s pretty much perfect. Thank you for letting us attempt to foster-& then being happy with us when we failed ❤️
always has the BEST names!! Hubs said we can’t have Zesty Italian but Rutabaga might be ok 😂

Barb is so fun to watch. She played with something (a bug? a leaf?) for over 30 minutes. Pepper just watched her. Barb follows Pepper around & clearly worships her, but the Queen had enough this morning & gave Barb one of her infamous open-palm smacks. *Sound up*. Today was a huge step. I went on a walk with pup and hubs in the neighborhood for the first time since the attack. Hubs had the leash, I had my practice pepper spray & we stopped to visit one of our neighbors who had been worried about us. I was able to get through our walk with no panic attack so I felt really, really proud. Pup was so thrilled to have both of us on his walk.
