Donāt Buy A Dog From Me
( What reputable breeders want you to know)
If you want to buy a dog and walk away, donāt buy one from me. If you want to pick a puppy because it came to you when you sat down or gave you a cute look, donāt buy one from me. If you donāt want to take my recommendations on what food to feed or what is best for the health and well being of the dog, after years of experience, donāt buy a dog from me.
If you just want a puppy NOW, because you need it for a Christmas gift or to be in Senior Pictures, donāt buy one from me. If you never plan to update me on how the dogs is doing or send a picture once in a while, donāt buy a dog from me.
If you want a dog to live in the backyard, run loose on a farm and never share time in the house with your family, definitely donāt buy a dog from me. If you want a lawn ornament, you can buy one made of cement or plaster, not much care needed.
However, if you want a puppy that has parents with health testing, that was socialized, loved and made a priority from the day it was born. A puppy whoās temperament and activity level has been carefully chosen to fit your lifestyle. A puppy selectively and purposefully bred to the standard set forth by our breed club, then maybe you do want to buy a dog from me.
If you want a breeder who will at anytime in the dogs life take them back, no questions asked. A breeder who is there 24/7 for you and your dog for questions and concerns and will work hard to help you resolve any issues. Then you might want to buy a dog from me.
If you want a breeder who loves each puppy/dog with all her heart, considers you part of the family and will laugh or cry with you at any time. Well then we might be a match.
Reputable breeders should never be lumped in with puppy mills, backyard breeders or those who broker dogs. A reputable breeder will be able to provide clearances, a five generation pedigree, an explanation as to why they bred the two dogs. While most of the time they will make little or no money. What money they might get is reinvested Into the dogs one way or another.
A reputable breeder knows their dogs, and can realistically tell you what to expect and when. They can guide you toward veterinarians, training facilities and products that will benefit your dog.
A reputable breeder will be your friend, a guiding hand and a strong shoulder.
So whatever choice you make, make it with the best interest of the dog in mind and if thatās not your planā¦.. then donāt buy a dog from me.
Author unknown but I'm sure LOTS of ethical/reputable/Preservation breeders feel the same

An all to familiar situation, copied and shared:
This is NOT a joke, this is a reality for a lot of our babies. Please read and really think about it.
Last week something terrifying happened
2 ppl showed up at my house, put me in thier vehicle and then put me on an airplane that dropped me off in Mongolia, They didnāt speak English so I didnāt know what was happening
As soon as I arrived more people showed up and took me to a party. I searched the crowd for a familiar face but there was none.
There was different food and no one spoke English so I couldnāt communicate my fear or worry or anything. People were talking, but to me it was just noise because I didnāt understand the language, They were hugging me and kissing me and trying to get me to play games and I just wanted to contact my family. At night they gave me a little room but I donāt sleep well in new places and locked the doors, I havenāt slept alone forever so it was scary to be on my own. The next day more parties and hugging and noise.
I just want to go home. I feel sick and stressed and scared. I donāt know if I will ever see my family again.
Sounds unbelievable right? Letās look at it from another perspective,
Today is the Day, Iām so excited we get to go bring home our new puppy, As soon as we got to the breeders my excitement was off the charts
I picked up my puppy and I cuddled him/her close on the way home. When we got home I invited a few friends over to meet him/her because itās all Iāve been talking about for the last 5 weeks. So of course I couldnāt wait to introduce him/her.
We threw toys and treats and everyone got to cuddle him/her. We had a great time!!!
I made the crate as comfortable as possible and securely locked the door and fell into bed happy and content. Tomorrow we get to do it all over again and the friends that couldnāt make it today are coming tomorrow.
This is Wonderfulā¦ā¦..
For Puppies Pickup day is Scary,
For You itās the best day of your life.
Remember that these animals have a brain and feelings and need time to adjust.
Puppies are not impulse decisions or toys.
Make an informed decision on what is the right timing for you and remember how scared they must be.
And of course, little Amelia (monkeymeelymoo)

Puppies had their first vaccines and microchip today, and happy to say, all babies are very healthy, no issues with breathing or heart, and didn't even make a noise. They were a big hit, like our babies usually are. Thank you Dr. Rowena š
The most adorable, petite wee man...Gizmo š he is so observant and juat likes to hang back and watch his siblings be crazy
As puppies prepare to head to their new homes I wanted to touch base on a common issue that breeders come across with new owners.
Realistic Expectations
You go to the breeders home. The pups are all social. They are quiet in the pen. The breeder shows you videos of them being totally relaxed at a dog show. All looks amazing and you bring your puppy home.
Then reality hits. The puppy may cry in the crate for the first few nights making you tired and agitated. The happy social puppy is refusing to greet the half dozen overly excited friends you invited over to see your new puppy. The puppy refuses to walk on a leash. Many are wondering how did my perfect puppy turn into a nightmare.
So letās discuss realistic expectations of when a puppy goes home. First of all the puppy has been in the breeders home since birth. They had their mother and often littermates. They had their routine, were taught expectations and were completely in their comfort zone.
Now suddenly they are taken to a totally new environment. Picture yourself being dropped into an unknown country, often in a different part of the world. You know only a few words of their language. Differnt trees, animals, smells, temperature and people. Now in the middle of this we are switching up your routine, decide to have a party with people you dont know, and ask you to do jobs you have no idea about. Overwhelming to say the least.
This is what every puppy goes through when going to their new home. Stress manifests in different forms. From not eating, reluctancy to play and greet people. Being apprehensive at the vetās office or as strangers reach for them. Diarrhea, vomiting and depression can occur.
So what can you as a new owner do to help your little one acclimate?
- most puppies take 3-4 weeks to acclimate to their new home. Repeat after me THREE to FOUR WEEKS! Not a 1-2 days. I canāt stress this enough about how much time is needed for a dog or puppy to feel comfortable in their new home!
- limit guests during the first week. We understand you are excited to show off your new baby but they need time to adjust. Plan on waiting 1-2 weeks before inviting people over
- ask guest to sit on the ground and let the puppy approach them. No squealing and grabbing the puppy
- set up a good routine
- restrict the puppy to a small area of the house. This not only reduces them being overwhelmed but also allows you to watch them
- donāt expect a 9-13 week old puppy to walk on a leash. Instead work at home with a leash where they are comfortable. Let them drag the leash, use treats to encourage them to walk with you
- if your puppy is refusing to walk give them time. My first trips to town with puppies a walk around a small block took 1 1/2 hours. We only move when they initiate the movement as they need time to take in the different environment
- understand your puppy needs time to see you as family. Expecting an immediate bond is unrealistic
- train your puppy. This not only helps you to bond but the puppy to look to you for direction and input
- lastly be patient. Donāt declare āomg thereās something wrong with this dogā. Nothing occurs overnight. Outings should be planned at puppy speed. So while you might imagine a fun walk around the lake in reality your puppy might only be able to handle walking a short distance that day.
Most outings for me take a long time, as I am often just standing still as the puppy cautiously explores the new environment. Patience is key!
Remember if the puppy was wonderful at the breederās house but now is struggling, you as the owner, need to help the puppy adjust which takes time, patience and training. Have realistic expectations and give the puppy positive experiences. Each puppy is an individual, donāt compare your current puppy to past pets and judge their behavior based on how another dog handled things. Lastly, try to see thingās from a puppyās perspective and adjust situations accordingly.
