I thought I'd post something useful for you today. So if you're wondering how you can knit a simple Beanie, then look no further as here is a simple pattern for you to try.
Making a beanie hat is a fun and relatively simple DIY project, but of course, you do need to know how to knit or crochet first (If you need help there are plenty of ‘how to videos’ on YouTube). Here's my basic guide on how to make a basic knitted beanie:
Knitted Beanie:
Materials:
1. Worsted weight yarn (about 200 yards)
2. Size 8 (5 mm) circular knitting needles (16 inches/40 cm)
3. Set of size 8 double-pointed needles
4. Stitch marker
5. Yarn needle
Instructions:
1. Cast On:
• Using circular needles, cast on 80 stitches.
2. Ribbing:
• Join in the round, placing a stitch marker to mark the beginning.
• Work in a K1, P1 ribbing for about 1.5 to 2 inches.
3. Body:
• Switch to stockinette stitch (knit every round) until the hat measures about 7-8 inches from the cast-on edge, depending on your desired length.
4. Decrease Rounds:
• Begin the decrease rounds:
• Round 1: K6, K2 together; repeat to end of round.
• Round 2: Knit all stitches.
• Repeat these two rounds until you have around 10-12 stitches left.
5. Finishing:
• Cut the yarn, leaving a tail. Thread the tail through a yarn needle, slip the needle through the remaining stitches, and pull tight to close the top of the hat.
• Weave in any loose ends.
