Hello friends! We would like to introduce you our “secret cookie-nuts family”. Please accept our apologies for keeping them away from everyone for 6 weeks, but we wanted the kittens to grow a bit before telling you their story.
Exactly 6 weeks ago we received a call about the friendly cat being dumped outside by her owners. The cat they had since she was 6-7 weeks old. The reason?! Nothing new here - they took in a puppy and the cat was furious. Their son, who doesn’t live with his family now and is renting the room, ran to the area and was able to quickly grab her. He was absolutely heartbroken and tried his best to find the placement for his girl Mia. Next day one of our volunteers went to pick up this girl and Mia was not happy, which was understandable- betrayed by her family, dumped outside, picked up by the stranger and taken to absolute unknown for her environment. We decided to give her some time to decompress, but her foster mom was very worried about Mia’s mental condition. Little did we know that Mia went into the labor!!! This was a very long night for me and her foster family. She first had 3 babies and as soon as she realized we were there for her and her babies, that we were not going to hurt her or her babies, she relaxed and let us gently pet her and started to purr 🥺. We let her be with her newborns and the next morning she showed us her 4th baby kitten. She is being such a great mom 🙏.

This family is beautiful and we know that the kittens will start getting the pre-adoption applications quickly, but we will give the priority to the family who would like to adopt our mama Mia with her only son Acorn. She deserves the love just like her kittens are.

Thank you for listening and have a wonderful holiday season ❤️🐈‍⬛🐈❤️

What is happening 😭 ?! It’s November 27th and the kittens are still being born everywhere. 3 different locations where we are actively doing TNR, over 60 cats were fixed within the last 3 months and it’s not anywhere close to the end. This is definitely not like we planned our Thanksgiving week 🤦🏻‍♀️.

Update - Baby Thomas was released from the hospital and joined one of our amazing foster families, who will work on his rehabilitation. He is a real fighter and is doing really well so far! Thank you all for your help and support! We will post more updates and his photos within the next couple of days. Thank you Animal House Veterinary Hospital dr Lepkowski and her team, who again helped us to save another innocent life🐈‍⬛🐈❤️

Dear friends, meet Baby Thomas, the little boy who trapped himself in the car on Thomas Ave for at least last two days. Yesterday late night he was lucky enough to be heard by an animal lover Loren Rucireto Sicilia while she was walking her dog and spent over 5 hours trying to help him, but he was too scared to come out. Unfortunately we haven’t seen the post till early morning today, but luckily Loren left the note on the car, asking the owner to not start the car and he immediately contacted her in the morning, confirming the kitten was still inside. We rushed to the location and I can tell you the truth it was kind of a game. He’s too sick to even react to the food, which would have helped us to trap him, by setting the trap by the car. He was too weak and scared to get outside or even move to much and the space was too narrow for our hands to get all the way down and grab him from under the engine. Few hours later and our fingers were able to get to his body. I think all of us Valerie Shkymba McAndrews, my husband, the owner of the car Mike and I stopped breathing. Little by little we were able to get him out and just needed to hear his first loud meow! We rushed Baby Thomas to the vet hospital where he is being hospitalized. He has a severe URI, has a ruptured ear drum, dehydrated and underweight 😔. He is receiving a supportive care and we are going to stay positive!
If you can help us with his medical bills and his care, please donate directly on this post by using the donate button or via

No donation is too small and every single $1 counts. If you can not donate at this time, please share the post far and wide to help us to help Baby Thomas.
Thank you all for you continued support 🐈🐈‍⬛🥰❤️!

Few weeks ago this precious sweet mama, the foster family named Bubblegum, roamed into someone’s yard looking for some food. Not only the homeowner fed her and realized this girl was very friendly, but also she noticed this was a lactating mom. Bubblegum gobbled up the food and immediately left the yard. Being an animal lover it was very upsetting for her to see the friendly cat outside and not knowing if she still had her kittens and if she did, there could have been dozens of places to stay. All she could do was leave the box with some blankets outside. How happy she was when few hours later Bubblegum brought her 4 kids and made themselves comfortable in this box! The next night she brought whole family inside and contacted our rescue, asking for help and offering to foster the family. Of course we couldn’t say no!
Bubblegum was estimated as 1 year old and she is now spayed/UTD on shots/tested negative for FIV/FeLV/ microchipped and is also ready for her forever home!

P.S. transport is available anywhere in NYC/NJ/Long Island

It’s been 1 year and 5 months since we rescued Dio and Apollo from the streets when they were still tiny babies and they hadn’t received a single serious application. Don’t you think they deserve to have the family they can call their own😩?! We need the community’s help to find this bonded pair a right home. Look how beautiful Dio and Apollo in their Halloween costumes. All they need is a loving family, who will also understand that after being at the foster home for 17th month they will need a little time to adjust to their new environment and will not jump on the laps the day they were adopted. They are being fostered in the home with the dogs and another cat. They love their fur friends, but unfortunately their foster’s cat wants nothing to do with them and it makes it more and more difficult for the foster mama to keep fostering this gorgeous pair. It will break our heart if we will need to board them in case we will not be able to find a new foster home for them. They are being fostered on Staten Island, NY, but we will transport them anywhere in the tristate area to the approved adopter.
If you are interested in Apollo and Dio, kindly complete the adoption application using the link below to start the process and arrange meet and greet

Since I missed the Northern Lights and don’t have any photos to post, I am going share with you Pippin the Big Heart aka Richard ❤️!
Many of you may remember the severely wounded boy we took in last year who ended up testing positive for FIV. As much as it is hard to find the home for an adult cat it is even harder when they have some health issues or FIV or FeLV positive, Richard, now known as Pippin, was adopted last winter and is living his best life with 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛brothers (who are FIV-!), spoiled and so much loved by his parents! He will never be betrayed again!
Happy Life Pippin ❤️

Just look how spoiled and beautiful our 🐺🐺🐺🐺 are! Bluey and Grizzly, Bowie, Static are still looking for their forever homes! Grizzly is our shy boy and he feels very comfortable around his affectionate sister Bluey and we would love them to be adopted together. Blue and Static don’t need to be adopted together as long as you have another cat or cat friendly dog they can bond with. These kittens are fostered on Staten Island, NY with other cats and the dog. The transport is available anywhere in NYC/NJ/Long Island.

The more I live the less I can tolerate the human stupidity. This little guy was found accidentally by the volunteer while feeding one of our many managed feral colonies. It was a usual night or what we thought was usual, when the lady heard some sounds coming from the woods while she was feeding the cats. As you can imagine you can’t see much at night, but thankfully this little guy was screaming his lungs out and the noise was coming from the same side. Imagine how the animal lover feels when she finds the closed carrier with the cat inside hidden between the shelters! The person who left him there didn’t bother to even think if this baby would be able to survive. If he would be sitting there scared in fair without making a noise she would have never knew that there was an animal left to die suffering the slow terrible death.

This is the reason why the rescues “want too much” from the families who apply to adopt. You can tell us whatever you want, but we will keep trying to find a perfect home. And while the circumstances may change and the family will not be able to take care about the animal adopted from us or any other reputable rescue, the rescues always take their animals back. And this is the reason we all get aggravated every time we see the posts “free to a good home” and give the animals away without screening the potential adopters.

The “thing” (sorry, but I can’t call it human) who left this guy just like that to die or “things” who put their house cats outside thinking their cat will figure out how to survive do not deserve to have even the spider in their house and I hope they don’t and will never have the kids.

We beg everyone to please please please screen the potential adopters! Do not hesitate to ask the questions. Ask for the vet information and actually call the vet! Do the home check! Vet the animals you adopt out and ask for the adoption fees. Microchip every kitten and cat you give away, this way there is at least a chance that if your adopted animal is found and scanned someone will reach out to you.

P.S. this polydactyl cutie, who is the most affectionate and playful kitten, needs a name 🥺🐈‍⬛

We will also appreciate any help with his future medical and foster care. No amount is too small and every dollar helps. Thank you so much in advance!
