One of our sweet pups has a big medical concern, and some big medical costs coming up, and we could really use your help!
A couple of weeks ago, on the same day that she had a meet and greet for potential adoption, we noticed something alarming on our sweet Luna. It was a large lump on her neck, and we had never seen it before. We were fortunate to get a vet visit the very next day. At the visit, they did a needle aspirate, and got only what appeared to be blood. When they sent that sample off, it came back inconclusive. So we took her back in for an ultrasound a few days later. The result was baffling. This large mass – approximately 5” by 4” – didn’t look like anything recognizable, and her CBC didn’t show anything abnormal. A referral was made to an internal medicine specialist. During that wait, the mass got larger.
Today was that visit. Some very concerning things are being discussed, like the big C word. Tomorrow, she goes back in for a CT scan, which will hopefully tell us what we are up against.
Luna is the sweetest girl in the world. Her life started off on a chain, being a baby machine. She came to us in very rough condition, and we spent months getting her back to health, including heart worm treatment, before putting her through Beyond The Bars. She loves every human she meets, including the doctors today. She is loving and gentle, and nearly perfect – and she’s young. 3 years is too young to face a cancer diagnosis, so we are sending up all the positive energy we can muster for her. Will you join us, please, in sending up a prayer to your higher power – whatever that looks like for you – for this girl?
Between the vet visits we’ve already had for Luna, and tomorrow’s projected cost, just getting through the diagnosis is going to cost almost $4,000. We are committed to our dogs, and doing whatever is needed to care for them, but that’s a lot of money for us.
Will you help? Luna deserves it . . . they all do. Thank you in advance for your support.
