🥲How is this lucky or healthy? Some unfortunate little furry carnivore is going to “win” and have to eat the same old crappy starch filled treats that have been on the market for years. Just because you put the trendy label “plant based” on it does not make it healthy, hypoallergenic or appropriate for our pet carnivores. 🙄

I am vegan. My dogs and cats are carnivores. Everyone deserves to eat their species appropriate diet. Go freeze dried functional organ treats!

Got a Bargain on Eggs? Freeze Them!

Freezing cooked eggs changes their flavour and they have a rubbery texture. Most dogs don’t care😆 Freezing raw eggs makes them easy to use because you can feed them raw or cooked based on the dog’s tolerance.

Crack an egg and pour it into an ice cube tray (makes a mess if you’re not precise- ask me how I know 🙄) or beat a few and pour them into a 6 or 12 cube tray. Pop cubes as needed and thaw in the fridge overnight before using in meals, or use a frozen cube as a very messy treat 🤷‍♀️

Why do so many cats have oral health problems? 😿Their starchy kibble diets and processed canned diets contribute to bad bacterial growth. A raw meat diet prevents and corrects oral health problems. The correct bone size for their species can be safe and effective at removing dental tartar. This kitty is happily eating raw quail bones! 🙀

THE BEST BONES TO KEEP YOUR PET’S TEETH CLEAN! 🪥🦴

There are three ways to clean your dog’s teeth🐶🦷: your vet can professionally clean them, you can brush them every night, or you can encourage your dog to chew a raw meaty bone.🍖

Gnawing a raw recreational bones, especially a meaty one with cartilage and soft tissue still attached, is a great way for your dog to naturally get the equivalent of a good brushing and flossing.

⚠️But not all bones are safe for your pet🐶🐱 and certain types of bones are better than others for keeping your their mouth healthy. So today in the Inside Scoop, Dr. Katie Woodley Dvm and Dr. Laurie Coger are joining us to go over all the different types of bones and help you choose the right one for your dogs, cats and puppies!

We'll also be discussing:
⚡️When you should (or shouldn’t) deworm your pet
⚡️Natural repellants for fleas & ticks this summer
…plus download our TWO free ebooks on naturally cleansing parasites plus a bone guide!

Join us today at noon ET for this lively discussion! We’re looking forward to seeing your questions in the chat! 🙌

It is always nice when science supports common sense. The bottom line in this article is, “Another idea is one we regularly encourage all companion dog parents to do: start treating your companion dog with fresh or steamed vegetables, shaved almonds, or fresh fruits to easily add antioxidants to their diets.”

ATTENTION Pet Parents!

A chemical used in Milk-Bones, Ol’Roy, Kibbles’n Bits, Hill’s Pet Food and other pet foods should no longer be considered safe for consumption due to concerns about its ability to damage DNA according to a new animal-model study.

According to the Environmental Working Group: “A scientific panel created by the European Food Safety Authority found that titanium dioxide “can no longer be considered as safe when used as a food additive.” The panel, citing concerns about titanium dioxide’s genotoxicity, or its ability to damage DNA, based its conclusion on a review of hundreds of scientific studies. EWG called on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to quickly consider whether to ban titanium dioxide from use in food."

A chemical that may damage our pet's DNA should not be fed to pets.

Latest bad new headline:
Why You Shouldn’t Feed Your Dog Raw Meat

So a friend says to me her husband read this and she wants to know if they should be concerned about feeding raw to their pets. My response:

Hi!
Is your husband a vegetarian? Do you bring raw meat into your home and prepare it for yourselves to eat? If so, feeding your pets raw meat puts you at no greater risk than the raw meat you are already bringing into your home, unless you were actually eating the pets‘ raw food.

Here is a more complete article which states some additional useful information:

https://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2021-07/esoc-dfs070821.php

1) three of the non-raw samples contained multidrug- resistant bacteria.

2) Enterococci are opportunistic bacteria. They live harmlessly in the guts of humans and animals but can cause severe infections if they spread to other parts of the body.

3) Dog owners should always wash their hands with soap and water right after handling pet food and after picking up faeces."

This article doesn’t tell us how many non raw samples (kibble) were tested. If four, than 75% of the non raw contained enterococcus too. I also could not find who funded this study but the doctor who did the research is a paid contractor. I do not doubt the findings. But I am not concerned about raw food as Enterococcus is already in all of us and everywhere. If we learned anything from
Covid, hygiene is important!
Citizens learned that back in the day of all great plagues.

The wake up call that we should all receive when we read articles like this is not to avoid raw fresh healthy foods, but rather to discontinue the overusage of antibiotics and antibacterial’s which are creating the super bugs in the first place.

Washing hands with soap and water and using natural essential oils from plants to care for our bodies and our environment are the most effective and safest way to care for our planet.
