Random cleaning photos of bloods and borneos. Short stay-cation and got a few things done including cleaning UNDER and BEHIND cages and racks.

I love a deep cleaned rep-room. Followed up by an evening of tapas with with wife.

Today passes with good and yet sad tidings. My original VPI captive bred and born borneo acquiring in 2000 hatched August 1999 passed away. She was having a rough time the last six
months. But we thrived together in the long run.

On a more positive note, I had a clutch of eggs from one of my favorite blood pythons, an ivory beauty who always makes big super chill offspring. 14 eggs and a pair of slugs. So as a keeper, breeder or hobbyist, when working with animals we must deal with the ups and downs of nature.

Well the herd is back outside! Sorry no videos of the move but i will my observations and efforts.

Took a weigh in on Shelly our 29 yr old male Sulcata and he came in at a measly 82lbs. Belle was frisky so I will get a weight on her this weekend. My guess is around 68-70lbs. Leo our old man leopard will get weighed then as well but i’m guessing 10-12lbs.

They got showered and cruised for late meal of fresh lawn and settled into their summer home.

Next clutch in the incubator…14 eggs plus another 4 slugs. This pairing should be fun and it all goes well should produce some wicked reds with striping…. VPI Hypo Genetic Stripe female bred by a John Giel Pollen.

Here is a fun project with math. If you add up all the ages of your snakes what would they add up to? I have it all in a spreadsheet so came of with 963 years. Almost a millennium worth of snake years.

I have age ranges up to 25yrs old and a range of animals in the upper teens. It is fun to see animals mature and thrive. It is sad to see some cases wane with age. I still support rescue activities but rarely keep them these days. But i’ve witnessed some amazing animals come through and it is rewarding to be able to still help when needed.

Finally got around to setting up the Slackline clutch including initial sexing. Definitely have a few visible Slackline aka Level 3, as well as Level 2, Level 1 and Normals. I’m still going over the clutch images to confirm the levels are consistent with the established standards.

As it stands we have 6.6 with weights between 66-72g with one female clocking in at 28g. They spent the initial 8 days in groups of six to work out their manners and were super chill… until sexed.😝

And so it begins. This is a very late hatching season but with all the challenges we have been faced with this year, I really cannot complain one bit. Just grateful to see eggs and now babies again. It really never gets old.

This pairing was VPI Slackline 2 to VPI Slackline 2. I’m so looking forward to this clutch.
