We are sad to report that one our newest fosters Ace passed during the night. Ace came to us with his siblings severely underweight, and ridden with coccidia. Despite the efforts of his great foster he crossed the rainbow bridge. This is the worst part of rescue. We try so hard. The fist of his litter, not to mention the other 20 that are in foster will need a lot of medical and we could use whatever support you can give! Watch our video to see some of our new comers.

**Urgent foster needed- capable of injecting insulin**

We desperately need fostering for a recent surrender. We recived a message last week from a person who’s 15 year old cat had stopped eating and was lathargic. When we spoke we found out she was homless, caring for her animals in a cold Camper. We agreeded to help and after extensive testing it was found the cat is diabetic. She has had this cat since it was a year and is heartbroken, but agreeded to surrender him to us so he can get the care he needs. We have an urgent and heartbreaking situation at hand. A litter of precious, bottle-fed kittens came into our care, and they were severely infested with coccidia, a parasite that wreaked havoc on their fragile little bodies. The kittens were afflicted by extreme diarrhea, which ultimately led to severe dehydration, creating a cascade of health complications.
In our relentless efforts to save these innocent lives, our dedicated team of veterinarians had to make the difficult decision to hospitalize them and provide life-saving IV support. Despite the exceptional care they received, not all of these kittens managed to pull through. It is a profound loss that has touched us all deeply.
Now, we are faced with a pressing challenge. The medical bills from their hospitalization have accumulated, and we need your help to cover these expenses. new foster fell through for these two sweet seniors. If we can not find a foster today we will be forced to acclimate them to the cafe. Although it’s a beautiful landing spot, being it’s kitten season and school is out it’s a bit overwhelming in there right now and we really don’t want to much stress on these guys. It’s only a 6 to 8 week commitment, until proper space frees up. Please message us if you can help !

Do remember Stumpy? She came to us as a surrender through VERG in Commack. She had those crossed eyes and had to have her tail removed because of an injury but she had such a sweet spirit! And now she gets to live out the rest or her life with the perfect family!
And she brought her favorite litter with her! Lol

Urgent plea for foster with bottle feeding experience

A Good Samaritan in Coram found these 4 three week olds and brought them to our trapper. They will need to be supplemented with KMR until eating. The trapper is actively trying to trap the mom and from what we are told one additional kitten. We need a foster to hold the babies and mom if she is found, or potentially hold the babies until they are old enough to move on to a regular foster. If you have experience in bottle feeding, or know someone who does and are willing to foster these guys please fill out our foster application below. All supples and vetting will be
covered by the rescue. Please help us!

Update:
Unfortunately this kitten was in real bad shape. When we met the finders at the hospital, the kittens legs were cold with no blood flow, belly was distended with internal injuries and was not Nero normal. They worked on her, but the decision was made to peacefully help her to cross the rainbow bridge. The Dr let Candice who called us to be with her and pet her as she slipped away. If it wasn’t for her, this poor baby would have died alone on the street with maggots crawling on her. Thank you for all who donated and helped cover her emergency visit, tests and eventual euthanasia.

This kitten was found in east New York and they called us for help. She is Being rushed to west hills West Hills Animal Hospital & Emergency Center now. May have been hit by a car, is dragging its back legs and has maggots on it screaming in pain. How can we say no. Please help donate to this baby’s care and let’s try and save her life. Aprox 10 weeks old. Our rescue is drowning in vet bills but we can’t turn a blind eye.

Typically lasting between the months of April and October, kitten season refers to the period of time when female cats are often giving birth to litters. This results in hundreds of homeless mom cats and kittens all throughout the island. Rescues all over receive hundreds of calls a month with new kitten spotting pleading to help these tiny babies. With every single intake comes time and money to trap, setup initial care away from other animals, initial and follow up vaccinations, spay/neuter, plus all of the food and litter needed to keep each one healthy. This leads to be hundreds upon hundreds of dollars for each cat, and there are thousands of them! The more you help, the more we can help!⁣
⁣
𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧?⁣
Aside from food/litter that 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 cat needs to live and thrive, with every kitten (or pregnant mom cat) intake the following is needed:⁣
- 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐩 & 𝐁𝐚𝐢𝐭 needed to capture kittens and mom if found. This can sometimes take multiple attempts to successfully catpure all kittens found.⁣
- 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 for kittens to safely live away from other animals and where they cannot get into danger.⁣
- 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 for comfortable and sanitary birthing area for pregnant mom.⁣
- 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐕𝐞𝐭 checkup for each kitten and mom (if found with kittens) before vaccinations are able to be given. This is typically within days of being rescued.⁣
- 𝐊𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐤 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭/𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚 for kittens who do not have a mom cat to nurse from.⁣
Follow up vaccinations routinely per kitten/mom cat.⁣
- 𝐓𝐍𝐑. If the mom cat is deemed feral and not adoptable, she is kept in foster care for the necessary length of time for kittens to nurse. Once the kittens are no longer dependent on the mom cat, she is released outside. If there is no familiar place for the mom cat to be released to, there are safe and cared for feral cat sanctuaries costing approximately $400/cat⁣
