32 hours in a crammed truck with tails and noses tightly bound to the railing above. Why does the government consider this humane? Is speaking out for animals only the work of animal activists? Today, 14th June, is Ban Live Exports International Awareness Day. Every year, millions of farmed animals around the world are forced to endure journeys of hundreds, or even thousands, of miles, only to be slaughtered on arrival or be fattened, often in inhumane conditions. Hundreds of animals are brought into Kathmandu valley in horrible travel conditions. Deprived of food and water for elongated periods of time. Not even allowed to sit down, with their horns and tails tied tightly. Is this what humanity has come to? With Dashain right over the corner, thousands of animals are to be transported inside the valley for the sake of meat consumption. There are high chances of Animal Transportation Guidelines being violated by these transporters along with inhumane treatment of these animals.
