What a nice Memorial Day weekend although it didn’t start out so good for me. I was sick but my human stayed up all night on Friday and took me for a walk each time I had to go out. He changed his plans so that the family could hang out with me on Saturday along with the corgis and Kona. We actually had a fun day although Milou and Winnie gave me a real headache as they always bark when they are happy and they were barking non-stop.

It felt good to just hang out and relax but my human also told us it is a chance to remember all of the soldiers and military personnel who have died in service of our country.

I hope you had a chance to recharge and are ready to start the week all over again. Summer is here and I cannot wait for the July Fourth celebration! Until then, I will be dreaming of all of you!

I asked my human why he loved me so much and without pausing he said that before I became part of the family, he thought he was happy but realized he was just in between days. Once he found me and met my mom, he found out what happiness truly was. I agree … even if I have to share him with Kona and the two corgis! hahaha

In a rare moment, he sang this 80’s song to me. I like when he sings 70’s songs but I think I will start listening more closely when he sings other period music like this one from The Cure.

My human was very pensive this morning as we went for our morning walk. I know he misses his dad as he was looking through old photos last night – his dad passed away in 2019. On my part I tried to resist looking for deer and rabbits and just walked a little more closely next to him while we were out. He told me that his dad always loved when he took me to visit them. I loved being in their house and would often sleep next to his dad’s lounging chair or next to him when he relaxed in the garden.

My human told me that he was glad that he had a good relationship with his dad and that he lived a long life and experienced many things and it gave him so many wonderful memories. I am not sure which of us will leave this world first but I know we will both make the most of it with respect to our relationship and that of our family’s relationship. And yes, I will always love the other dogs – Winnie, Milou and Kona. I love my time with my human. Please make the most of your time and tell those around you that you see them and care for them. I love all of you!

I know that many of you have followed my journey from the very beginning but some of you are new friends. I decided to stay in to sleep and introduce you to my older sister, Kona. She is a Kai Ken which is the bigger cousin to the Shiba Inu.

Kona is very shy and was very scared when we adopted her but has now become part of the family and we love her very much and I know she loves us as well. She used to be jet black but we are all getting older! She is 11 now (9 months older than me) and really loves the forests around our home. My human always sings Eagles and Genesis songs when he takes her for her walk.

Well, it is a very cold weekend here in New England and I hope you are staying warm!

We went from temperatures in the high 50’s yesterday to temperatures in the 20’s this morning. I am okay with that as it is still supposed to be Winter here in New England.

Good morning from Shibaville! The weather is supposed to be nice here in New England and my human is letting me take full advantage of that by walking extra long in the woods and forest around our home. Good morning from Shibaville! My human let me sleep in a little this morning and walked Kona and the two Corgis first so I had an extra 90 minutes to sleep. I don’t mind because that means that when we go on our walk, there is no hurry and we can take our time and it is light out so it isn’t as dangerous for him walking on the frost covered trails.

Tomorrow is MLK Day and my human told his little boy that it is more than just a day off of school. He said that Martin Luther King helped to open the door to having a dialog on inclusion and belonging and that this has made us all the better in the long run. He told me that this song is a reminder for him to love everyone and to treat everyone with love and respect and to hopefully get that in return.

Most importantly, he told me that this is how he feels about all of us. I feel that way too – especially about our family and all my friends here. I hope that you get a chance to relax over the extended weekend if you are in the US and don’t have to work on Monday. Yes, we will always be together, our love!

This was the first snow of the new year and I was very happy to get out into the meadow and forest. I got to see all of the different tracks from the deer, rabbits and squirrels and was really in my element.

My human let me explore for 90 minutes before we headed home. I really can’t wait for my little human brother to be able to go out in the snow with me later this afternoon.I hope everyone has a great weekend and I am thinking of all of you and wishing you could be here too!

I was feeling a little blue for the start of the New Year and wasn’t quite sure why. My human seemed to understand and slipped my leash on and took me out well before the morning light.

Even though he brought the flashlight, he didn’t turn it on – he didn’t have to. We have taken this same walk across to the field, almost every day for the past ten years.

We walked the white trail and then we walked the yellow trail and before we knew it the sun was rising. He told me that this will be a tough year for me and him as we are getting older and life doesn’t always make sense. We walked to the observation platform and sat there as our world was slowly waking up. We even saw a deer go running by on is way to the deep end of the woods.

I normally will sit on the platform but my human asked me to sit on the bench with him. I jumped up and sat next to him and then put my head on his lap. He told me that even though life can be an illusion, that I needed to know that he loved me and that will always and forever be the case. He scratched the back of my head and my neck and we sat there for another thirty minutes before heading back home. As we walked through the door, my little brother – his five hear old son, greeted us. My human unleashed me, picked up the little giggling boy and got my breakfast ready for me all in one motion. I really love my human and I know he loves me and everyone else in the family. I can see it from both sides now.

As New England days go, this was one where I wanted to just sleep in and not go out in the morning. My human, on the other hand, wanted to take a walk and because of that, I got up and went out with him. The weather was not so accommodating as we are in that time of year where it sleets and rain mixes with snow to create a very grey and hazy day.

Nonetheless, we had a good time and he told me how much it meant to be able to take walks with me and to experience these past ten years with me. We have a full house and I don’t mind sharing him with everyone else in the house but I do cherish my alone time with my human!

As we were headed out of the conservation area, he told me that I will always be his tiny dancer. For a moment, I did not understand what he was saying. But then he looked at me and scratched my head and neck and said we needed to count the headlights on the highway as we crossed the road to head home. I wanted to tell him, whenever I am with him, I am already home. Hope you all have a great weekend. 😽

I am always reminded, that here in New England, the seasons come and go. My human always tells me that no matter what happens, we need to make the most of what is given to us and that includes the weather. We had a little bit of rain come through over the past few days but at least it wasn’t that cold that it fell as snow. Now, we have a respite from all the rain and wind and I get to play in Shibaville!

It’s Thanksgiving in the United States. I know that this is a sad time of the year for many people as they feel there isn’t much to be thankful for these days. We all feel that way at times and its always important to remember that you are not alone. Even when you have family around, it can feel that way.

This morning in the meadow it was very cold and I know my human didn’t want to be outside for too long but he allowed me to roll around and play next to the observation deck. We had Shibaville all to ourselves! Due to a recent outbreak of Covid-19, we decided at the last minute to stay local and although we will miss grandma, we will make the most of it – yes, I will even play with Milou and Winnie (the corgis) and Kona in the backyard this afternoon. I hope that you are able to enjoy this quiet time of the year.

Know that I can never say goodbye and hope you think of me and my family as we will be thinking of you. Please have a safe and happy Thanksgiving and start to the holiday season. :)

Tine is fleeting. My human always says that to me when we finish our morning walk and we sit on the farmer’s porch before going inside. Both of us are in our downward sloping years. He says that it is at these times, these quiet times in the morning that we can truly appreciate our lives and all that has occurred leading to this point.

There are good times and there are sad times but we always have each other and our family. I am grateful for my human for picking me over my sisters who were bigger than me and more approachable. I hid behind my mother and was in my own world when he picked me up, looked at me and said I would be part of his family. That was ten years ago. I can’t imagine a different life without my human and his family.

The last day of a warm spell here in New England. It was Election Day and my younger brother had the day off from Pre-K. He wanted to go for a long hike with me and my human and I showed him all of my special areas in the trails near our home.

My brother laughed so much as we strolled through the woods and kicked piles of the colorful leaves that covered the path. We had a lot of fun today and it reminded me of my younger years. I am glad he is having the time of his life and I hope we can continue our explorations as he gets older. I love my family very much. What a gorgeous fall day in New England. My human and I have been walking the conservation trails since early this morning while the rest of the family has been sleeping. It feels just like it did when he first got me as a puppy. I love walking through the woods and feeling the pine needles under our feet. All the leaves are now turning yellow, orange and red. Celebrating both Columbus Day here in the US and Double 10 (10/10) Day with a morning walk with my human and my other best friend, my little brother.

10 is a magical number in China and it means Perfection. Today, couldn’t be more perfect as I got to walk an extra long time and I got to do it with my little brother who turns 5 this coming weekend.

My favorite part of walking is when we finish and sit on the observation deck overlooking the meadow. We get to look at the meadow and we talk about the good old days. I love being with my human and little brother and I love the old days as they seem to be flying by.

Well it has been a long time since I posted an entry in long form and thought I would post this as the mornings this week have absolutely been beautiful here in New England. I love this time of year as it seems that I get to walk an extra long time with my human in the mornings and evenings.

Today we walked through the woods and past the meadow and went around the perimeter of the woods and then through them one more time before heading home. It reminded me of my younger years when my human would allow me to explore Shibaville for as long as I wanted to.

On our walk, he told me that he loves me very much and as we both get older we will need to take care of each other and appreciate all the good times we have had over the past ten years. The time has gone by so quickly and while the last few years my human has focused on my little human brother, I know he always has me in his heart too.

I told him that I will follow him and asked if we would follow me. He smiled and gave me a nice big hug and kiss and said “always”.

I love my human and am so glad we are one big family with mommy, the little boy, Kona and yes … even the corgis. I hope you have a great rest of the week! I will follow all of you - will you follow me?
