Have you ever been called out to a lion emergency?! Well our volunteers have!
This lion had a little fight with his mate and ended up with some deep wounds that needed cleaning. Luckily our volunteers were able to do just that and give him a full physical examination.

Relocation of wildlife is an important part of veterinary work in South Africa. Reserves need to ensure that there is enough genetic variation between their animals to prevent inbreeding, and to allow species to evolve to the constantly changing environment.

Our volunteers in Costa Rica having a class on nutrition. Nutrition is a key part of caring for wildlife in captivity. It is important to ensure that we are providing a diet that is as close as possible to their natural diet to prevent malnutrition and disease.

The volunteers in Costa Rica helped the Vets to move their flightless Macaws into an open air enclosure. They helped to conduct health checks, place identification rings and created new homes for them to nest in.

The volunteers were working hard last week to reconstruct the Coati enclosure at the wildlife sanctuary in Costa Rica.
They added some plants, dug a sand pit for them to play in, and built an amazing jungle gym!

Giraffe capture and relocation is a truly wild experience! It takes a lot of planning and preparation for success. After a brief immobilization, blindfolds and “ear muffs” are utilized to diminish their senses and make them more amenable to being guided onto waiting trailers.
