As we have posted we are in a critical situation and almost out of funds!!

Of course we're still getting multiple requests for help every single day!!

This is absolutely a horrific position to be in. We don't want to say no and turn anybody away but we need to make sure we have the money to not only cover the almost 100 Animals still in our rescue but also we need to be able to cover the costs of the new animals coming in.

We got a call about some kittens that were on the streets and desperately needed help. How on Earth can you say no to little babies like this! So these kittens are now with our rescue and we are just praying that we will have money cover all of their vet care as well as food and supplies.

We want to also thank everybody who's made a donation to us from our last request. But if there's anybody out there who was still thinking about helping and making a donation now is the time we need you the most!!

Update on Bean. Her blood work was good nothing showed up in regards to why she would have seizures we've started around seizure medication and so far so good! Let's hope this will do the trick and she won't have anymore!

I (Pamela). Broke my foot trying to catch a cat and I just had surgery so I just wanted to apologize in advance if communication is slow these days and it takes longer to respond.

Bean went to see Dr Russell at Grace vet today to see why she started having seizures and also see about pain control for her body.. we are doing blood work and hopefully we will know soon whats going on.

Another great donation from a fabulous bunch of kids !!

1st Sooke Embers (Girl Guides) donated to us as there chosen Service Project his year. They are very passionate about helping all the animals ! They made some fabulous cat toys for us ! Donated a bunch of bottles, and some cat litter supplies as well gave me a yummy box of girl guide cookies ! Thanks girls ! This helps so much and the animals thank you !!

Also just a FYI .. I (Pamela) broken my foot ! (while trying to catch a on the lamb inside only cat! __ YES cat is now safe at home!!)

So hopefully it won't effect the store hours but please if you want to come in and want to be sure we are there just give us a call ahead of time. Hopefully things will remain the same but due to a few medical apts we might have to close for a bit .. I will try and update also on the FB Page when this happens ! Thanks all for your patience !!

When it rains it pours so they say ..

Bean (Paralyzed Chihuahua) just had a seizure! That was pretty scary. Getting her to the vet and hopefully it will be a one off.

And we Just got this poor cat in. We are calling him Chance. This poor guy has been suffering so much out fending for himself .. apparently people have seen him FOR YEARS!

This shows you that they don't have a great life out there fending for themselves. It is a harsh world for strays on the streets. Horrifying to think about what he has gone through ! But he is safe now and we are getting him to the vet today ..

Please if you ever see a cat looking hurt, injured or sick reach out for help !!

We are getting low on funds and getting worried about how we are going to fund all these vet bills. We are flooded with animals in care and more calls for help .. please anything will help if you can spare a bit please donate. As well share and spread the word if you can !!

Bucket needs your help! Sadly, he was just diagnosed with FIP.
But thankfully FIP is NOW Treatable ! So there is hope that we can save him but we need your help!!! The life saving medication is going to cost about $4500!

Please help us save him. Too many cats have died from this disease as until recently there was no treatment.

More info on Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) is a viral disease of cats caused by certain strains of a virus called the feline coronavirus

Do NOT let your VET tell you to euthanize without seeing what options you have. I treated 5 kittens a few years ago for FIP and they are all alive and well and doing Amazing !! I hear that some people are told to Euthanize as there is no treatment. PLEASE enough cats have already died from this if you are able and can afford the treatment you need to know there is a chance !!!!

As of February 2019, there is significant hope for cats with any form of FIP.

This sweet 2-3 year old boy sadly has become homeless after his father passed away. He's super sweet and loving. He is playful and mischievous and Is always looking for something to get into. He was always an inside outside cat and not adjusting to being inside only so would be great if he could find a home with somebody who lives not in the city and somewhere safe for him to have outside access?

He is good with other cats but he can play a little bit rough so need somebody who can handle it.

Another Huge shout out to the amazing folks at Cloverdale paint Langford location for the amazing kind staff! I went in today to purchase a couple long handled paint brushes. And they were so kind and donated them to us!! These will be used, not for painting but for stroking this beautiful girl. She's feral and pregnant. She's safe with me so she can have her babies. I'm going to work with her so she can see what being petted feels like and that humans might not be so bad. Hopefully this will also gain a bit of trust so when the babies are born she will let me handle them a bit... Happy birthday Linden!! This sweet girl was with us over 2 years waiting for the perfect home... We are so thrilled she is so Loved and finally found her forever home!!

Drum roll...... The winner of the 50/50 draw is Deanna Lane!!!!! The pot was $11,520! Deanna gets $5,760 And after fees we will have approximately $4,608 to go towards the animals! Thank you so much everybody who purchased tickets and for sharing!!

Bean went for a nice walk today! Got some good smells in...

Babies!!! They got their first free run out of the cage and in the house!! Tricky, Lilly and Salem were having so fun! Poor Maderine wasn't allowed out of the cage yet because she's still shy and needs to learn to Love people first. So she needs more work. But hopefully with a little bit more time she'll be good to go and can play with the babies.

Rest in peace sweet Dixie. Dixie was one of the many pigs we adopted out over the years. She went to her new home in 2018. She was deaf so it was a bit harder to find the perfect home for her. We were so lucky she had so much love. Sending our condolences to her family for giving her an amazing life. Here's a cute video of her be sure to have your volume up you can hear her singing!! Here is a message from her family: I am saddened to say that today we said goodbye to our sweet deaf pig Dixie. She has been the sweetest of pigs. Often seen gathering bedding and singing to herself. Always ready for a scratch which would immediately have her fall over for a belly rub. We will miss you sweet girl

This will also help us SO much as we have over 140 animals in our care and just took in over the last few days over 40 that all need vet care which will be over $20,000 ! Kitten- Bonanza !! 16 kittens just in off the streets !! Thank goodness someone called for help .. but there are more as well as many 5-6 months old and adult cats there .. We will be working on getting everyone from this property so they can be vetted and fixed!! These kittens are sick and most probably would die over the winter. If not to illness, or weather but to predators. Please donate to help if you can so we can continue to help the many calls we get every single day for help !!! All of these kittens will require vet care which will be up over $600 each kitten not including if they need medications. And not including good kitten food and supplies !! That is $9,600 at Min. for just the basics just for this 16. But we have also already taken many adult cats from this property and many more to go. And it continues.. this sweet little one too young to be on the street on her own. Thankfully someone found her and called us!! She's starving . Will have a full belly now and a warm heated bed. Looking for more baby's and mom of course.

OMG .. Who says animals can't coexist ! These guys love each other ! Niki Gollmer adopted both of these guys from me (plus 2 other cats) and they all adore each other !

This is why we do what we do ... Remember Hutch? This poor boy had a really rough start of his life. He's only 3 years old and came to us terrified, frost bitten ears, broken teeth,. And have half a missing front Paw. He's got an amazing home now and he's doing so well we wanted to share how sweet this boy is that he's starting to trust again!

Felix had his Leg Surgery. He came to us with a bad injury to his back leg and after X-rays it was determined he needed a bone removed from his back leg. He would have been in a lot of pain and it would have continued to get worse. He is healing nicely ! Poor guy will now hopefully be pain free!

Sweet Linden has been with us 695 days !!! this is a lovely sweet girl who just wants a family of her own .. she has a skin disorder (EDS) but it is very manageable and pretty easy to keep her safe ! Here she is with the amazing dog Trainer Dave with Tomey K9 Services -- She is learning amazing skills and getting ready for her forever home ! -- I will post another video of her in the comments !! Thank goodness and a huge thanks to the amazing folks at central emergency vet. They didn't give up on him and it was touch and go overnight but they finally found a medication he responded to and he's doing so much better and finally back home! Here he is back to his feisty self! We still at 100% sure what happened. But we're very glad he's okay now.

Our Story

Broken Promises Rescue was started in 2011 by Pamela Saddler, Kathleen Davis and Cora Timothy who have been doing rescue for decades. Unfortunately Cora left Broken Promises in 2013 and Kathleen in 2016. The new Board of Directors are Pamela Saddler, Maria Moore and Debbie Henson.

We are a all Species Animal Rescue for homeless pets throughout BC. We are a 100% volunteer group with no shelter so all our animals go into foster homes ! As long as we have a foster home we can help ! We cover all their vet care and any training and rehabilitation that they need and once ready they go up for adoption ! Our adoption fee’s help cover all the costs that we spend on each animal before they go .. We focus on BC and local animals who are stuck in the shelter system and not getting adopted due to breed, color, health or age .. We have been doing rescue for over 20 years and it is our heart, soul and true passion .. together we can make a difference with the support of big hearted souls like you !
