NZ Malinois

NZ Malinois More than just great genetics! Our dogs are bred to be top level working dogs with good food and prey drive. http://nzmalinois.com/malinois/

We spend the time with each puppy to ensure they get the best start to life so that you can hit the ground running with your puppy! We breed dogs that will be suitable in detection (narcotics, explosive, etc), security, patrol, military dogs, search and rescue, tracking and various performance sports. Our aim is to produce dogs that are true to the Malinois breed, have balanced drives, are environ

mentally stable and enjoy working for their handlers. Dogs with incredible stamina and are agile and healthy. Our main goal is to produce dogs true to the Working Belgian Malinois: self assured, confident and fast. Our dogs are not suited to pet homes or novice handlers.

I dread the day this dog leaves me! There is nothing about her I would change except prevent the injury that damaged her leg.

When a Malinois and an ex feral cat team up its nothing but trouble.

HausTralis Caramel Fudge "Karma" from our C Litter and Sir-Hiss-a-Lot are partners in crime. And I love it!

To say we're exceptionally happy with how well our C Litter are doing in their homes is an understatement.

The only reason that Karma and the cat are friends is because she went to owners who are experienced in dealing with dogs.

We are fussy about where our puppies go because the owner's experience is the biggest difference between a dog and cat who get a long and a dog and cat who doesn't.

We probably turn down 75-90% of people who want puppies because they have no idea about the level of skill the breed needs.

Our C litter are doing extremely well! They're now 2. And all our pups are doing exceptionally well in their homes! Their owners can't stop gushing about them! And that makes me a very happy breeder!

Here's one of our boys. He's available to approved females pending health testing.

I love how our pups are stable and adaptable: equally happy to work and love their families. Stability is something that we highly value.

You can have the best working dog, but if you can't live with them, what's the point?

We don't breed for people who want a dog to look cool. Dogs aren't here to stroke our egos. They're here to make us better people and be our best friends.

I recently published a puppy socialisation book.

If you'd like to raise a stable, well-balanced Malinois, you may want to read it.

I've had Malinois for over 10 years and in that time I've raised Malinois litters (where pups became premiere working dogs as well as stable pet dogs), many puppies and helped countless owners with their challenging dogs.

I didn't just raise a litter. I kept following them as they grew up. I didn't just help owners with their pups, I kept in touch with owners and seeing how the pups developed.

My number 1 goal is to raise confident, resilient and stable dogs. Of any breed.

And it starts with understanding our puppy's brain. That's why the book is focused on Neuroscience principles instead of Psychology.

You'll find it at Amazon.

Every time Raven helps me with a dog I'm in awe of her stability, sensibility and adaptability.

These are the reasons why I bred from Raven. I've met many Malinois from every breeder in NZ. And Raven stands out.

When we competed together, the obedience competitors all over the North Island commented on how amazing she was compared to the other Malinois they'd seen.

Raven would stay on her chair when I went around the field. No she was not tied up. She worked her heart out doing everything I asked. She never put a paw wrong. Considering how little training we did the first, 2 seconds and 3 thirds made me so proud of her!

I've never had a dog who gave their all as much as Raven gives.

Raven is safe around children, cats, chickens and all farm animals.

She's helped so many puppies and misunderstood dogs learn how to become dogs. How to trust. How to grow.

Raven is a true Unicorn. I dread the day that she'll leave me.

Raven has had amazing litters who excel in all aspects Malinois are expected to excel in.

Raven will no longer produce puppies but her puppies will now carry on her legacy with 3 of her sons approved as stud dogs pending health scores.

Repeat after me:

Malinois are not service dogs.
Malinois are not service dogs.
Malinois are not service dogs!

There are unicorns. But they don't need to become service dogs. People do stupid stuff. Dogs do stupid stuff.

Malinois are more likely than the average dog to do stupid stuff.

Or "Malinois make the impossible, possible" but not in a good way.

Want a problem dog that you constantly need to train and work on: get a Malinois.

Want a dog you can actually enjoy your life with? Get a gundog. There's a great range in there from drivey Britany's to challenging GSPs, to goofy lovely Goldens.

No one NEEDS a Malinois in their life.

It's a bit disturbing how many health issues are popping up from breeders who are claiming to be doing extensive health testing.

Either they're not testing.

Or the health tests are not yet able to test for these issues.

It's important to remember health testing is a tool. Health tests are not yet able to detect every possible disease.

The only way to save any breed now is to open stud books.

I don't have an issue with anyone trying to do the right thing and having bad luck. But don't tell lies about me, saying I'm breeding from deformed dogs (injury is not genetic). I don't believe in Karma... but it's sure starting to look like it...

It's funny that I get to have the last laugh!

This is Delta.

She's 10 years old.

She's a retired Military Working Dog.

This is her after taking 2 Va**ums.

When Raven had her operation after her leg injury I also asked the vet for Va**um with the hope it'll help calm her down. It didn't work. I took it back.

I gave up on trying to calm down a Malinois with medication.

I've even seen it turn a Malinois aggressive. The vet gave Jake some when we had him put to sleep when his body failed him.

I wish they hadn't.

Medicating your Malinois is a complete waste of time.

Incase you think you can medicate these dogs.

Incase you think they ever "calm down".

If you hope for either of those just get a calmer dog in the first place and leave these crazy dogs for those of us who love them!
