If your dog is missing:
- let us know. We can put a Facebook post up for you. Please let us know about the dog, where it was last seen, a phone number to call with any sightings and a photo (pictures really help with shares)
- contact the local dog warden. They are contactable 24 hours a day. In Brighton and Hove: Office hours – 01273 294266. After 4pm and weekends: 07827 967088

- Register on doglost.co.uk. This is a free service. It emails local supporters and also automatically generates posters that can be printed. There is also a range of useful advice and links
- Check that the microchip details are up to date. Have you moved or changed telephone numbers? Contact the microchip company if any updates are needed
- Contact local vets
- Even though stray dogs are the responsibility of the local authority, some people take a dog they find to a local rescue centre. In Brighton, this is the RSPCA in Patcham. Call 01273 554218 between 10.30am-4pm, Tuesday-Sunday.

- The lost dog recovery team specialise in the recapture of difficult-to-capture dogs. They are a fantastic volunteer team with specialist equipment and can be contacted via Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lostdogrecoveryuksouth
There have been scams where people claim to have found a dog and phone with ransom demands. They do not have the dog and cannot provide key details. This, unfortunately, means that you should take any claims with care. If you have found a dog:
-Thank you for looking after them and keeping them safe.
- We don’t share found dogs on the page unless we are asked to by a dog warden or vet who has been unable to read their microchip. This is because of the risk of false claims. We want to get the dog safely back to the right home.
- Please take the found dog to a vet if you can. They will read the microchip and help reunite them. If not, please contact the local dog warden (details above) who can be contacted 24 hours a day and will help
